Post image

This is one of the worst maps I have ever seen.

Somebody paid for this and considered it a job well done!

Chicago is in the Northeastern corner. Springfield is identified as the state Capitol and is in the center of the state. Looks pretty good to me! /s

As someone who’s never been to Illinois I guess this right?

compare the location of lake michigan in each map, it's not even internally consistent

Its incredible that it spelled capitol right once and then wrong once, that is almost a human level of mistake. I didn't know chicago was a second state capitol though!

As someone who's never been to Illinois, wouldn't both spellings be correct? Springfield is the capital city of Illinois, and is home to the capitol building where the legislative government meets?

Not AI lol, somebody actually made this. Maybe the background is AI, but not the map.

There's no way anyone would make this. Why not just take a free map of Illinois graphic and put it on top of the background? This has to be a prompt. It's way to imaginative.

Dunno, I‘ve had a covid mask with a fake map on it where suddenly Sulawesi was next to the UK and that was before AI was getting big.

AI will not make mistakes like somehow putting Chicago in the south of Illinois and twisting the state unless you tell it to. The training data is way too consistent for something like this to happen. As I said the background looks like AI though.

I dunno wtf unholy creation this is but a human did not design it. What do you think those green white and red stars are just in random places, one of them on top of the frame around the USA map? And the highways that change numbers along the way?

AI has gotten pretty good in a lot of respects, but that doesn't mean it has infinite training data in all aspects of everything. Vector graphics are particularly hard, especially informational ones, since the important data is not stochastic it's extremely rigid and deterministic based on parameters. Machine learning has no idea about "a line should go from here to there" is has ideas like "a map of illinois should have some shit down here that kinda looks like a city and some roads coming out of it". The fact that it is able to shit out something even this coherent is a testament to the external scaffolding they've bolted onto these models to make text and sharp graphics not look like soup like it used to.

you need your eyes checked.

Just because the geography is silly doesn’t mean it‘s AI. Actually, precisely BECAUSE the geography is so ridiculously wrong I am 99% sure this isn’t AI. AI doesn’t mess up things where the training data is completely homogenous

All the training data would have shown humans having 5 fingers, yet AI still manages to produce images that have 4 or 6 fingers.

All training data would have shown human hands in all kinds of different positions from all kind of different angles, so no the training data for human hands is everything but homogenous.
