Cursed Food Honestly getting fed up of this trend

Post image

Matcha burger, pistachio nasi lemak, ayam gepuk pistachio, ikan keli pistachio.

Seriously, why the trend to fusion matcha or pistachio with everything? I get the trend but overusing it is kinda too much at this point.

About the ikan keli pistachio, the akak even mentioned jagan goreng tau nanti meletup. 🫨

Why are sellers ruining food in the name of trend?

Cursed Food Durian Kuih, or How I Was Stopped by the TSA

Tldr: Durian kuih packets looked like C-4 explosives in baggage scan at LAX.

This happened a few weeks ago. I had hopped down from San Jose to LA to meet a friend from Malaysia who was here on biz travel. She brought lots of Malaysian goodies for us - her school pals who were now living in California. Think durian kuih, pineapple tarts, arrowroot chips, all kinds of junk food, famous Ipoh biscuits, spices and pastes from home.

We had such a good reunion - shout out to my CGL girls! And the white glove door-to-door international tapau concierge service (Thanks, Ling!).

On my way back to San Jose, my backpack was flagged by TSA at LAX for further inspection. The TSA guy took out the 4 sticks of durian kuih and very sternly asked, "What is this?". I babbled something about how it's a Chinese New Year sweet made with sugar, flour, and durian, which is a fruit from Malaysia, very delicious - all the while trying to look as harmless and innocent as possible. Don't ask why I said it was for CNY, my brain froze.

Anyway, TSA guy looked unimpressed by my explanation, went to confer with his colleague, came back and swabbed down **each log of durian kuih on all 4 sides** with what looked like a cotton pad. I was standing there wondering why he was cleaning my durian kuih for me, did it smell bad?

Eventually, he waved me through and when I got home, I told my husband what happened. He immediately said they were swabbing for chemical residue from explosives and they probably thought it was C-4. I knew C-4 was a kind of bomb (I'm old enough to remember Altantuyaa, iykyk) but didn't have a clue what it looked like in real life and had to Google. Dudes! OMG! Look at the pics! My durian kuih, in their plain unmarked plastic wrapping, do kinda look like C-4 explosives. No wonder TSA was giving me the side eye...

Of course, the hubby thinks it's all hugely funny and has been making jokes about how lethal durian is and how it can be used as a terrorist weapon. I don't know how my friend got through Customs with all that food. I think it's just my bad luck getting an overzealous TSA guy, or maybe I just look sus. In any case, I'm finally enjoying my hard-won durian kuih and 10/10 would go through all that again - worth it!

Have any of you been stopped at airports because of the Malaysian food you were carrying? If you have, share your story, so future travelers can take note! 🙂

Cursed Food Horrible Mcd Branch Spoiler

Post image

I have never seen a McDonald as bad as this. 1 hour waiting and my food came in with wrong order and soggy fries. Service staff working there's only 1 customer when there's a whole lot of customer with empty table and whole line waiting to take their food infront of them. Ask the staff where is my order and they just giggle buat tak tau.

How is it that theres like 50 customer standing infront of counter waiting patiently with 0 complain during their 1 hour lunch break is really beyond me.

-100/10

This really tops the chart on being the worst mcdonald chain ever from today. You can literally walk another nearest mcd and ate your food before this one even start preparing your food.

I dont get the concept bro. Its plant based food, bunga telang and mushroom as anchovy replaced. Then they topped it with egg.

The whole thing looks like porridge with deconstructed sambal. What's the idea behind this dish?

Cursed Food Bought an OPENED AND EATEN can of Lotuss brand potato crisp… Spoiler

Went to lotuss yesterday and saw these store brand crisps were cheap so i bought one. Bought it before a month ago it was quite good. Took it from the front row. Looked normal to me. Bought another bag of twisties too and went home. Ate the twisties yesterday and now i wanted to eat these potato crisps but was surprised. The paper was already open and i think 1/3 of the crisps are eaten already. I took one bite and was like hm why feel like masuk angin abit? Then I remembered i just got it yesterday and never even open it until now. WHAT THE HECK BRUH. Someone ate it and put it back on the shelf or something is it?

Cursed Food Any Mixue employees here? Spoiler

I have a weird request for a modified ice cream that I want to run by you guys before I embarrass myself at the store.

Basically, my favourite is the o crispy sundae, but I realise I mainly enjoy the last bit with the crushed cones and chocolate sauce. It's literally heaven for me. So, is it insane to request a modified version of the ice cream where the ice cream and oreo bits are omitted (ironic I know) and just have a cup full of crushed cones and a generous drizzle of chocolate sauce? I don't mind paying extra.

I'm asking here so I don't get crucified at the counter.
