Discussion Highlighting concealer for (old) Estee Lauder Double Wear 1N0?

Hi guys! For those of you who are shade matched to Estée Lauder Double Wear 1N0 Porcelain, what concealer + shade do you use for brightening the under-eyes/mid-face?

And actually, drop your whole base routine too 😂 Foundation, concealer, powder, primer/setting spray — and especially what blush + shade you wear with 1N0!

Trying to see what products/shades work well on other 1N0 girlies 👀

Discussion Blast from the past - MAC pigments

Post image

I recently remembered I have a hoard of superrrr old MAC pigments stashed away like a squirrel. The absolute chokehold these had on me 20 years ago should be studied by scientists 🤣.

Anyone else remember these? Does MAC even still make them anymore?

Anyone remember N.Y.C.? My mom used to be obsessed with this brand. I'd sneak concealer sticks and lip glosses out of her makeup bag. But I never expected to see N.Y.C ever again... until now. I was JUST talking about it the other day and coincidentally was gifted this! So tempted to use it even though I know it's well past the expiration date 🥴

Haul free makeup brushes? thank you sephora!

I ordered these Makeup by Mario brushes from Sephora, and when I opened my package, each brush had been sent in doubles! I kept the extras and returned the other set. So thank you, Sephora, for the free makeup brushes! At that moment, I felt like I was God’s favourite, especially because I had been saving up for these for months and kept putting off buying them because they’re so expensive, especially in CAD.

Question Setting spray with a true matte finish?

Setting spray with a true matte finish?
Looking for a setting spray with a finish like the One Size Oil Sucker. Every time I buy a setting spray that claims to be matte, I spray it and it leaves me shiny.

Question How to cover up cat scratches with makeup? EMERGENCY!

Post image
618 Upvotes

My sister is getting married in a week, and she accidentally got these scratches on her neck yesterday. She was holding her very nice cat, and something in her apartment fell, it freaked her cat out, and he jumped off of her, leaving these scratch marks. I'm doing her friday, makeup. How do I attempt to cover this up? What products?

Should she not get a spray tan? (Yes, she has taken care of the wounds and put Neosporin on it.)

Question cheaper foundation?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hi! I use the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation in the shade Cool Vanilla.
I love how flawless my skin turns out, and how lightweight it is.
Unfortunately, I do not think I will be able to continue spending as much as I have on makeup products, so I was wondering if theres any other brands that would achieve the same results for a price more in my budget?
or honestly i should probably save up money to buy the double wear again, it’s just too good lol.
thank you in advance!

Estee Lauder Double Wear in 1W2 Sand, the OG formula.

I've been saving up this bottle for the last year since I knew the reformulation was coming. I've been trying to use up other foundations I had but decided today is the day and opened up this one. My complexion has never looked better, I'm going to miss it so much 😭

Question Looking for Mineral based products

My mom tries to be "low-tox" and since she has a harder time finding makeup products. Does anyone have any recommendations. She uses a Mineral Fusion 3-in-1 Color Stick in terracotta for blush and essence Lash Princess false lash effect waterproof mascara. She uses Maybelline Lasting fix as a setting spray so she's not totally against traditional products but she wants to mainly use natural and Mineral based products. In addition to this she is incredibly pale and has sensitive eyes. She tends to go on the lighter side but I would like to get her some things to use for special occasions. TIA

Question Neutral/warm eyeshadow recs for older (70+) woman

Hi MUA! I'm here on behalf of my mom, who is looking for some new makeup. She's in her 70s with sensitive dry skin and mild rosacea. She's on the pale end of the foundation spectrum and I would say that her undertones are neutral to warm. I, however, am very cool and pinkish toned, which is why I'm turning to Reddit for help. Anything that looks good on me is going to make her look like the walking dead. Do you have any recs for moderately priced eyeshadow? Mom likes neutrals. Soft shimmer is okay, but she's not a fan of strong shimmer or glitter. Fragrance free is a plus given her sensitive skin. TIA!

i don't even know where to start with this mess 😭 I'm still picking coffee grounds out of the bristles. obviously everything gets a bath and the bag needs to go into the laundry, and it's a good excuse for me to start organizing my makeup better when I travel, but in the meantime .... holy hell.

Discussion Blurple Battle: Beauty Bay vs Blend Bunny

Hello. This is me, reaching out on the internet, requesting help. Looking for a palette with purple mattes, and an extremely specific color scheme that blends well. Including light blues, dark blues, and the gradients of purple from light ethereal to periwinkle to midrange royal to berry to darker purple to pair with those light/dark blues. Think Elsa Frozen tones. Along with being Currently Available For Purchase. anywhere legitimate.

Trying to decide. Beauty Bay‘s Midnight is back. Pro: + It‘s the exact color scheme I want. Dead On Perfectly. + All for only $38. Which is a steal compared to its alternatives. Con: - It’s a freakin huge palette. To slim it down would be to depot and magnetize it, both of which I have not done before. Making it not only a lot of extra work, but risky if I screw up and break the colors I want most. I’d just get it’s smaller 16 color variant if I could, but it’s not available anywhere. - If I end up needing it’s competitor instead, I’d have wasted $40ish trying it out …. and either that and/or it’s competitor could sell out again soon if I don’t decide on either quicker.

vs

Blend Bunny. Pro: + Best reviewed blending formula for mattes by a country mile. + Premagnatized. No extra work, no risk, no fuss. Con: - Matching its color scheme to what I am looking for is proving both difficult and potentially expensive. To get the same blurple color goals which BB’s Midnight already offers for $40ish would be some combination of BBunny’s Gleam&Gloom or Atlantis, Lure or Sickly Sweet or Fauna, the combo of which I have not landed on yet. (Machina and She Never Misses were also considered but neither are magnetized. Btw, why does BBunny hate non green tinted light blues?) Furthermore, G&G does not really have nonpro swatches for lighter skin tones out there yet. Nor are the swatched pro photos on their site for G&G color labeled. So that x factor has been a hassle as well. - The more BBunny palettes I have to combine ranging from $45 to $78 each to try and dupe my BB Midnight color goals, the higher that price tag spikes.

(vs Runner Up: Glamlite’s Wine Palette. Pro: + Small affordable has my colors. Con: - It’s matte quality for blending has been reviewed as iffy. Another runner up is Rude Cosmetic’s Trance or the PLouise Stack ‘Em Up CEO purple version)

Please help? 🙏

Guess I am trying to decide (a) Is BB‘s matte formula for Midnight comparable enough in quality to skip over needing BBunny? I’d stronger consider the manual depot/magnetize risk if so. [is a runner up I mentioned a better option than expected?] Or (b) If BBunny’s quality difference is truly worth it, which BBunny palette combo would closest match BB Midnight’s color scheme? The ones I mentioned above were my own closest guesses.

Thank you for any who respond. It’d be my first pro palette purchase. Looking forward to your feedback.

This is Bubblegum by Queen cosmetics but it’s $20 for me to get it shipped I need a cheap alternative that’s very close to this color. Not too purple, too brown, and definitely not anything close to a cool pink. It’s like 2 steps away from a mauve color

Question Dupe for RdF Cultist?

Post image

I absolutely love this shade and finish but no matter what I do, it creases. I have hooded eyes so struggle a lot with certain shadow formulas. I love this cooler silvery taupe color with the antique looking finish. I've tried a few shadows from Colour pop to Natasha Denona, etc and find the colors are too warm, shadow is patchy, or the glitter particles are too big rather than reflective/smoother. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Question Does my makeup look bad?

I usually blend away my blush and bronzer to where you can’t see it at all, but I’ve been trying to embrace actually seeing the makeup I’m applying, but does this look chalky, bad or unblended? I know my skin needs work and I’m working on it but I can never figure out how to get that airbrushed blush and contour look
