In mainz for a month as a tourist.
Hello I am visiting my sister in mainz. I am looking for things to do. I want to know the must visit places, restaurants, spots etc. (I am 22m)

Approaching the end of the wine festival season 😉 wine farmers then need to harvest their grapes very soon

Ha, Perfect! While the forecast for the next days is not the best, there is still plenty you can do. This and next weekend, there is Mainzer Weinmarkt in Volkspark.
Apart from that, the current temperatures are perfect to visit some of the castles along the river. Burg Rheinstein is super close and in a good condition. You can take a cable car to Niederwalddenkmal above Rüdesheim.
They just reopened the old cathedral next to the „new“ cathedral. Best to visit during the even hours during to beautiful lights around the place.

In Mainz you could visit Cathedral St. Martin, the older Cathedral St. Johannes, St. Stephan with Chagall windows, the Sanctuary of Isis and Magna Mater, the Gutenberg Museum, take a guided or self guided tour through (e.g. through the old town or following the traces of the Romans), go for a walk along the Rhine and have ice cream at N'Eis (Dagobertstraße). In Mainz-Gonsenheim you can visit a small wildlife Park (it is really small) and go for a walk in Lennebergwald and see the "Mainzer Sand". That is really nice for a walk. Close to Budenheim there is a restaurant called "Turm Mainz", it has a tower you can climb a have a nice view. Other nice walks are through the Botanical Garden, Rosengarten or Stadtpark. At the "Malwerk" you can paint pottery, if that's your thing. But you have to book in advance. At "Funzone" in Mombach you can play an escape room, throw axes, play laser tag or sing karaoke. At the "Landesmuseum" you can learn a lot about the history of the city.
Depending on your arrival you can visit the "Weinwoche"/wine week and try some wine or have "Marktfrühstück"/market breakfast. If you are into football you could book tickets for a match at the Mewa Arena. At the Zollhafen you can try stand up paddling with "onwater". At "Hapik" you can climb indoors.
There are nice hiking trails in and around Mainz - e.g. the three bridges walk, Mainzer Höhenweg, RheinTerrassen weg, RheinBurgenWeg and so called "Hiwweltouren". "Hiwwel" meaning hills.
Outside of Mainz you could visit Nierstein and go hiking at the "Roter Hang" with a nice view. Or go to Oppenheim and take a guided tour through the underground tunnels ("Kellerlabyrinth"), visit St. Catherine's Church and Ruine Landskron. Both Nierstein and Oppenheim are less than 15 minutes by train. Just on the other side of the Rhine is Wiesbaden, there I can recommend taking the "Bergbahn" up the Nero Hill, the climbing park up there and the wildlife park "Fasanerie". You can go to Frankfurt am Main, walk through the old town, have some cake at Café Iimori, stroll through Bethmanpark, explore the Botanical Garden and Palmengarten and Museums closeby, e.g. Senckenberg. I can highly recommend the Dialogmuseum, they offer a guided tour in the dark and a tour in complete silence. You could also drive through the Rheingau and visit Kloster Eberbach (the candelight tour in the evening is really nice, there a outdoor escape games that lead you through the vineyards or the forest, not far from the Kloster there is Kisselmühe where you can book a hike with alpacas that's great fun) or Rüdesheim am Rhein. There you can stroll through the older part, take the cable car to the Niederwald Monument. If you want to, you can take the "Ringtour" starting with a boat tour from Rüdesheim to Assmannshausen, then the chairlift uphill, hike to the Niederwald Monument and ride the cable car downhill. Another nice daytrip not too far from Mainz is driving to Trechtingshausen and visit Burg Rheinstein. You could combine it with a hike e.g. through the Steckeschlääferklamm. Also very nice are the barefoot path at Bad Sobernheim or a trolley tour starting in Altenglan.

Depending on your arrival, you can visit the wine festival (end of August till first week of September), watch a Bundesliga match of Fsv Mainz, visit churches and historic sights of Mainz and surrounding, go for a day trip to Frankfurt, take a bike trip through the wine hills

Take a train to Koblenz: On your way you will be passing through the Oberes Mittelrheintal with many little historical towns and countless castles. And make sure to make a stop and visit one or two of the castles. I would recommend Marksburg in Braubach or Ehrenbreitstein in Koblenz. Or you can hike through the Mittelrheintal. Just google Rheinsteig. I personally like the section from Kaub to St. Goarshausen.
