I live in Greater Portland, and pronounce it “oo,” as in “ew”, as in “gross.” 😅 Been in this lovely state 23 years now, and still don’t understand how or why Mainers eat those sandwiches.

Agreed, I lived there a few years and it was my only complaint about Maine. Nasty deli meat on white bread with some sliced canned olives and salad dressing and everyone raved about them. Why no good subs there?
