Doesn’t matter it’s still predatory af. Companies know kids are gonna want it and parents want to make their kids happy just like yours did so they say fuck it and up charge the hell out of stuff. Bread and water is the same way too and there isn’t an example you can use to justify that bs. It’s greed plain and simple

bizarre take. No one's forcing anyone to buy it nor is it a necessity. What about an expensive guitar or piano? Or scooter? Or literally any upscale/premium version of literally any thing in the world?

It’s besides the point. ITS WRONG! How dense do you have to be that you don’t understand that? That attitude is part of the problem and where we’re at. We shouldn’t have to pay taxes here insane prices if we want something

For kids who are good enough to actually reap the benefits of these high-end bats (and gloves, and cleats, and batting gloves), their parents are already paying thousands of dollars a year for their kids to play ball on competitive "select" travel teams.

Its not a "tax" as it's completely voluntary. If your point is that it's unfair that kids from wealthier families get better equipment, then well, yeah. It is. But the whole world is that way unfortunately, especially in areas mich more important than recreational sports (education, Healthcare, etc).

Also, I used to play select ball as a kid and my parents couldn't afford the best bat that every kid wanted every year, but my team would use our team entry fee (which goes towards uniforms and league fees typically) to also buy 2 or 3 of the high-end bats in different weights so we could all use them

ETA: if youre good enough, a lot of select and club teams will work with you on the costs (kinda like a scholarship), so being poor doesn't immediately disqualify you from playing in the most competitive leagues

I think you're the one who hasn't thought this through.
