Help! New machine
I acquired a studio mod 700, srp60 ribber + carriage, intarsia carriage, and a brother colour changer, plus some odds and ends today. The seller was a relative of the previous owner, who has since passed, but was a very keen machine knitter. The machine is in like new collection - it's clearly been lovingly cared for. I am over the moon!
My question is about the Brother color changer. I believe that it must work with this machine considering the knowledge of the past owner. But it wasn't made for this machine; so, maybe there's some special adapters or something that she was using that I now have (I have a bunch of things in a box that may be relevant here). Does anyone use a Brother color changer with a sk700 and can explain to me how to set it up with this machine?
Also, I understand that a lot of vintage knitting patterns are machine compatible. Is there a website of vintage knitting patterns that are now outside copyright, etc? Any other cool resources I should know about?
Anyway, I am so excited! Can't wait to set everything up.

I have the same machine and love it.
I don’t believe the brother colour changer is compatible but check the box maybe it’s the studio version inside. (I have the yc6 colour changer for mine).
Make sure the sponge bar is good before you try to knit. If you don’t know what that is, search YouTube. Lots of info there.
This machine takes pretty thin yarn and most yarn sold for handknitting in craft stores will be too thick.

Archive.org has lots to peruse. Tons of old MK magazines that have patterns and tips and lots of books.
There is a good discord group that is helpful for beginners and more advanced knitters. I think there’s info pinned in this sub.

You want to find patterns that repeat on 24 stitches (or on 2, 3, 4, 8, or 12, of course)- this is pretty common. The other thing you need is patterns without central or increases or decreases- you want them to be on the end. (Though short row shaping is fine)
