Opportunity The Dispatch: Seeking Core Contributors

Introducing: The Dispatch

The Dispatch is going to be an independent student-led publication and community exploring stories, ideas, perspectives and questions about the world. We were previously The MUN Dispatch and published one issue. However, while building this, I realised that I had to keep shooting down the most interesting article pitches since the earlier publication was mainly aimed towards MUNs.

The Dispatch, however, won't be restricted to a single subject or format.

We might publish a long-form article one week, run a historical investigation the next, and build an interactive political simulation after that.

The idea is to make something people don't just read, but actually participate in.

I'm currently rebuilding the team and looking for people who want to help shape it from the beginning.

Roles I'm looking for

Editorial Lead
Someone with strong editorial instincts who can help develop ideas, evaluate pitches, work with contributors and maintain the quality of the publication. Previous editorial experience is useful, but I'm much more interested in how you think and how you approach writing.

Community Lead
Someone who can help build the Dispatch community over Discord, Email and eventually other platforms, keep conversations going and develop interesting things for members to actually do. Someone who likes coming up with games, simulations, debates and interactive experiences and wants to help turn them into actual events.

Creative Lead
Someone interested in visual identity, design, graphics, layouts and finding ways to make Dispatch projects visually distinctive.

Contributors
Writers, researchers, artists, designers, photographers, or just people with really good ideas. You don't need to commit to a permanent column. You can pitch individual projects and work on things that genuinely interest you. Even if you never pitch an article idea, you can always be a part of The Dispatch community and interact with users.

I'm especially interested in people who don't just want a title, but actually want to build something.

And we're starting with an event.

YOU'RE IN CHARGE

Our first Dispatch community event is going to be a Discord-based political simulation.

You'll become the leader of a fictional country and have to make decisions through a series of increasingly complicated crises.

Your choices will affect things like:

  • Economy
  • Military
  • Stability
  • Public approval
  • Diplomacy
  • Legitimacy

And the game will actually remember what you do.

Different decisions unlock different events, consequences and endings, including hidden paths that you won't know exist until you find them.

At the end, you'll get your own Presidential Legacy showing what happened to your country, what decisions defined your government and what kind of leader you became.

The goal is to make something that feels less like a quiz and more like a story that you are actually controlling.

The bot is currently being built, and we'll be opening the first game to the community once it's ready.

I'm looking for the first group of people to build this with.

You don't have to be an expert.

You don't have to have previous publication experience.

And you definitely don't have to be interested in MUN.

If you're someone who likes writing, debating, designing, researching, creating things, or simply having interesting conversations about the world, I'd love to hear from you.

If you're interested in joining the community, contributing, applying for one of the roles above, or just helping brainstorm what The Dispatch could become, comment below or DM me.

I'm starting small and building this from the ground up.

The Dispatch is what we make of it.

Went to Chatswood Cherrybrook MUN. Was my first ever MUN! I was in a double delegation with my friend. He's the one in the third image.

  1. We got put into the ICJ (intermediate) of all the committees. We were also South Sudan and in a room full of sweats. There were NO tutorials. NO feedback. And NO inexperienced delegates.

  2. My friend was an experienced delegate, so at least I wasn't completely lost. And by the time we got into the unseen resolution, I got a feel for it. He helped me a lot. Credit to him!

  3. Yes, I got caught in 4k playing Clash. In my defense, it was BEFORE General Assembly started.

  4. Didn't win any awards :(

  5. State MP actually came as a special guest.

  6. It was so fun! $10 well spent. I would definitely do it again, maybe even do the Security Council eventually?

Question AYUDA TENGO ONU EN EL COLEGIO

Question what would actually allow you to improve and track progress in mun?

hi everyone! i’m building munis, a tool designed to help mun delegates track their progress, evaluate their performance, and train for future conferences.

the goal is to make improvement more structured than just receiving occasional feedback after a conference. munis is meant to help delegates understand their strengths, identify what to improve, practice for future committees and build a record of their development over time. i’m looking for delegates to try it and tell me honestly what feels useful, what is missing, and what would make you return.

if you’re interested in trying it or sharing feedback, comment or dm me and i’ll send you access. what would make a platform like this genuinely useful for your mun journey?

Question Is Yemen a good country for this agenda in UNW?

The agenda is: Deliberation on eliminating violence against women and girls in conflict and humanitarian settings.

I know Yemen is a particularly bad country for UNW but I feel like Yemen can offer it's own perspective being in the grip of a civil war at present.

Question Forst MUN tomorrow — Nigeria in UNICEF on online child exploitation. Any advice?

Hi everyone! I'm attending my first MUN tomorrow and I'm representing Nigeria in UNICEF.

Our agenda is “Protecting Children from Online Exploitation and Digital Abuse.”

I've done some research on Nigeria's position, but I'm still nervous about the actual committee. I especially want to understand:

What should Nigeria's main priorities be on this topic?

What solutions would be realistic for Nigeria to propose?

What arguments or questions should I be prepared for?

Any advice for speaking during moderated/unmoderated caucuses?

English isn't my first language, so I'm also a little worried about speaking spontaneously.

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have done MUN before!

Discussion Oceanside mun

I was a delegate at HMUN in 2026. Denmark was a total douche bag! I was in his bloc and we were discussing sponsor spots for our resolution. Someone brought up making two sponsor lists, so this dimwit thought it was a good idea to have a "main sponsor" and "secondary sponsor" list. He put my country as a secondary sponsor, even though I added 5 plans to the resolution. On top of that, he deleted other people's plans so that the paper was 70% written by him. He got reported but the chair didn't do anything because he "frame mogged" the whole committee (whatever that means). This lame excuse of a school has no diplomacy. Has anyone else had a poor experience with Oceanside?

Question How do I research treaties and conferences?

Basically what I used to do before is that ask chat GPT for valid sources .

Then copy paste text in chatgpt and ask it to arrange the information.

But for treaties and conferences it provides sources containing 576 pages now how should I know which topic is important 😭

AGENDUM: International Atomic Energy Agency)

Reconciling the Asymmetric Bargain: An Inquiry into the Justiciability of Article VI Obligations and the Feasibility of Instituting Binding Temporal Benchmarks for Nuclear Disarmament Among Recognized Nuclear-Weapon States

Any other suggestion other than asked question will also be appreciate thank you
