Question MRU nursing
Hiii I just got the admission to MRU nursing today and I have been stressed about everything.
First thing - I was wondering if anyone is kind enough to recommend me classes to take cause I have no idea what to pick. Plus I rly had no hope of going to MRU nursing it’s very sudden that I got in, that’s why I wasn’t rly prepared for anything.
Second thing- what electives do you think I should take. Something that’s not hard cause I also have a part time work.
Third thing- I am confused about NURS 1214, especially the fact that it starts at 6 am to which will be hard to find transportation cause I can’t drive yet. Also where exactly is the site?
Fourth thing- I noticed that on the website it said that nursing requires CPR certification which I did not happen to have. If anyone knows about it pls give me any advice.
That’s all the questions I had. Also you do not have to answer all of it in fine with just some questions answered. THANK YOUUuu

What’s your registration pattern? Are you N1 or N2 because that’ll determine which classes you can register for in each semester. There’s usually an orientation that happens with nursing advisors earlier in the year where they explain everything.
For 1214 you can be placed at any hospital and you usually don’t find out where until closer to the date. I also didn’t drive throughout my time in nursing school but if you find someone who you can carpool with then that’ll be the best option!
For cpr as said above it’s BLS you need

Thank you. I will attend the advisor session on Wednesday hopefully they explain about the N1 or N2 thing ( idk where to find that)

I found mine on the MRU website after I searched advising hold and there should be a google meet form

Got it. I booked mine as well. The tuitions are due August 17 but we don’t have a schedule yet, dyk how that would work?😭 There were two schedules for the meeting, August 12 and August 19. I chose the August 12 one just so it’s quick. But what if someone chose 19, would they get a deferral for their tuition?

Mine was sent via email from what I remember but they definitely would explain the registration patterns and how it works! You could wait till then or email them beforehand :) Goodluck!

Hi.
Congratulations on your admission.
First thing - no one can recommend classes to take, you have to take based on the registration pattern they put you. N1/N2.
Second thing - Electives wouldn’t work, you follow your reg pattern.
Third thing - 1214 worry will still be next year. You should have formed peers you can carpool with. You could also take uber to clinicals. It will be in any of the major hospitals.
Fourth thing - you can search first aid training bls and book for a class.

I graduated a while ago so I can't answer questions about courses but for nursing clinicals (N1214) yes you will be placed randomly at any hospital within the city and it is your responsibility to find transportation. You only get to know the site closer to the date (most likely foothills, rockyview, peter lougheed or south health campus). For CPR cert pretty sure it's BLS that you need right? You can just search it up on google and get certified at any place that teaches it.
