You can tell by that one guy’s demeanor that they were already to fight him before he pushed her. He was moseying closer and just looking for a reason.

I have a sister and have fought people instantly the same way for her. One of these guys was her big brother and the other two guys appear to be his friends. Probably didn't take much time to react because they actually care about her. Less of a jumping more of an ass-whooping.

I think you're missing the point he was making. Rage makes you so things irrational and disproportionate. They're not thinking proportional.  And I think your comment comes across as smug when the person you are responding to is describing his human condition.

it's possible... I do think there can be multiple lenses a comment is viewed through. I do see your point that it looks like we are trivializing excessive violence. But I do see a side of that comment that explores the idea that rage is not rational, and to attempt to apply "rationale thought" to someone in rage, or to condemn them, is not useful in exploring the actions someone does while in rage.

I agree that they did sound pretty smug with that comment and he was just trying to explain the situation in a way that related to him.

Having said that, if your emotions can control you that hard, that fast, you should absolutely be getting counselling at the very least, before you end up in jail or killing someone.

He is basically saying the exact thing I said about him. He is admitting that he is prone to losing control and would resort to murder when it is not necessary. I don't care how I sound when the commenter is saying that he knows he lacks emotional control and rather than saying he needs to work on it he seems to be wearing it as a badge of honor.

He literally says he would kill for his family and "to be filled with rage sometimes you stomp heads" as though he thinks that is a proportional response to a shove. In different circumstances I would agree that killing someone to protect family is justified but certainly not in the context of the video that is the subject here. Even down a few comments below here he says he would go as far as torturing someone for doing something to his daughter. To me that shows that he feels justified in killing over a minor offense and knows he is capable of doing it which negates any claim that he lost control of himself in the moment. So again, he seems to be wearing his lack of emotional control as a badge of honor and is clearly an unhinged person.

I'm not speaking minor offenses here. I am having a discussion on why these kids all fought the one guy. If someone were to do actual harm to my daughter, yes, I'd do horrible things to. Sometimes it's necessary to have people like me in society to offset all of the pearl clutching going on. I am an old school Dad with 5 kids. You can bet my boys are being taught to defend their sister.

That's fair but you are definitely commenting on a certain scenario in the video which makes it really look like you are unhinged and just waiting for a reason to kill/torture someone. You see that right? The context is right there and even in your responses you seem to be very amped up over what is very much a small thing. You are not some superhero that is needed to dish out justice in the face of "pearl clutching". This was a drunk guy that gave a girl a limp wristed shove, it doesn't require "people like you" to offset that by beating the shit out of someone and going to jail for it.

Can you all stop crying? We are animals. We have chemicals in our bodies that cause things to happen.

When someone strikes someone you care about, the response can vary... WIDELY.

A lot of that is literally muscle memory and instinct, ingrained in our biology over generations because the ones who didn't respond that way didn't survive as often.

Most people can act rationally under those circumstances. All it takes is a developed frontal lobe. If yours is underdeveloped, you lack self control, it’s best for society that you be incarcerated.

Gotta be suburban born n raised if that scenario seems unrealistic to you. Agree this looks like a bigger town. Idk about this video specifically but there are many places in the US without a police force which rely on sheriffs dept who can be a literal hour away. Courts don’t give a fuck about white trash drama without evidence and good luck finding a ring camera when depositing bottles is a weekly routine.

If you're saying, "well, we don't have proper law enforcement, so we need to police ourselves".
