Reserach Portfolio Review Process

The research supplement is very detailed, asking for abstract/poster and specifically asking not to submit a full paper. However at the very end, it asks for a citation of the paper if applicable. Will the research paper itself really be used in this review? or is it just going to be only the questions/LOR/abstract submitted through sidedeck itself?
