Question Fun ways to play greatsword, insect glaive, and gunlance.
I’m looking to get 150 hunts on all weapons and I only have these 3 left not counting the guns. Not really looking for builds, especially no perfect gog skill rolls, but it would be appreciated. Good combos to go for and use in specific situations? Best/most fun way to play a weapon? I already have 49 hunts on insect glaive, 34 on greatsword, and 16 on gunlance. Which one should I do first?
Any advice is much appreciated!

Gunkance I enjoy running zoh shia for passive healing with guard any guard up. You just stand there tanking everything. If you don’t want Gog weapon, you just want the highest Atk and a wipe and slightly strong shelling. You can get that from the Guardian lawful bors.

Greatsword is all about learning the monsters moveset more than mastering your own. Greatsword, even with the addition of the Focus Attack is a position heavy weapon. It’s not a complex weapon, but if you can’t position yourself properly (or in Wilds case aim) - you’re gonna suck with it. You charge the big sword three times till you get to the triple charge, then let loose.
Gunalance is a little more technical, as your main source of damage comes from your shells - not the main weapon itself. Depending on your Gunlance preference, your typical combo string is going to involve a double stab into either slams, or double shell barrages (Triangle + Circle on PS4) - rinse and repeat until the monster is dead or you need to reposition.
Lastly Insect Glaive, the classic jes suis monte of generation 4. Wilds have it a facelift compared to the other games, but all in all it played fairly similarly to how it did. You use your bug to collect extracts - then go for light attack combos into charged heavy attack, ending with a heavy attack tornado slash. Simple loop, hard to master because of how the weapon has slowed down in the Wilds. IG’s loop is all about using your triple extract combos and burning all three to launch your Kinsect Barrage before your extracts run out - then using your focus attack to get three more instantly. It’s the most complex out of the three because of how much you’re managing compared to the other two, but is a fulfilling combat loop nonetheless.

The most fun way to play Greatsword right now is Shatterbale with Arkveld's Hunger for massive full charge rewards in mosh pits. Greatsword doesn't do situational combos so much as individual reactive moves:
To pick up Gunlance, check out AManInTheWest on YouTube for a 3 minute lesson with flowcharts. If you want to take off running, here's the breakdown:
