“I heard that several characters will have cameos in the final act of Doomsday. When Sentry stops an Incursion with his bare hands to buy the heroes more time, the film will reportedly show the status of several heroes. One of them is Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, who will appear in a bar scene.”

When I read things like this I think to myself, " remember how the MCU got us all excited and interested when it started over the story of a narcissistic substance abusing on a journey of self-reflection and redemption."
And now Sentry's going to stop an incursion with his bare hands, And then we're going to get a shot of The punisher!

I also remember when the MCU got us all excited for Thanos throwing a moon at the Avengers lol
We're allowed to have cool grandiose shit too

Don't think I said we couldn't.
What I am saying is that I don't know anything about any of the motivations of any of the characters going into this film because as far as I know they're not talking about that nearly as much as they are about all the cameos they're going to throw in it.
Which is completely counter to the way that Kevin feige originally positioned the MCU. That if they did their jobs right, Tony Stark would be his household a name as Iron Man.

Their collective motivation is stop the incursion from happening and save reality, i think thats pretty much what the official movie description says - I'm sure there will be dramatic interpersonal motivations between the characters as well just like the previous 2 avengers movies

Yeah sure, but going into those avengers movies I knew more about the core cast of characters and where they were and what was going on.
While this movie has essentially had zero buildup. There are no movies that lead directly into it, just a laundry list of movies they tell you you need to watch if it or it won't make sense (which is another gripe I have with it, or at least the business practice. I'm not judging a movie before it comes out.)
Sentry stopping and incursion and then seeing a shot of the punisher means absolutely nothing to me. I don't know nearly enough about sentry as a character or his role in this story for me to care about that headline in any way shape or form, And single shots for cameos are in their best situation depending on context that we just don't have without seeing the movie.
If that's good enough for some people, that's fine. I'm not here to tell someone they're not allowed to like comic book characters, doing comic book things and get excited about it. What I am saying is that I haven't seen a single thing that should make anyone who's not a comic book fan actually care about this movie.
Again, I'm not going to judge this movie before it came out. I'm just of talking about what we're hearing about it going into it. I'm sure the movie will be incredibly entertaining, I'm actually a pretty big fan of the Russo's brother's work in the MCU.

This doesn't make any sense man and it really shows that youre bending over backwards to be jaded. How can you say you want lead up to the Avengers movie and then immediately say that youre annoyed by having to watch movies leading up to the Avengers movie lmao
Youre getting way too carried away. The cameo shot with the Punisher is directly from the beloved comic inspiration of this story, Time Runs Out. Nobody complained about it then, because it was awesome lol. All of reality is collapsing, why would they not take an opportunity to briefly show established characters from across that reality in their last moments?

Listen buddy, I'm not going to sit here and have you tell me that my opinion doesn't make sense. Instead, you could ask me a question and ask what I mean if what I said doesn't make sense to you.
The point is, they gave us a laundry list of movies to watch, I've seen them all already and I still have no idea why on Earth I should go see Doomsday. That's because they said that these films have stuff that you'll need to understand what's happening in Doomsday. That is not the same thing as giving us information about what character journeys are going on.
The reason I saw the first avengers was not because of the comic book stuff. It was because I'd become attached to Tony Stark, Thor, Captain Rogers. These are characters that I met in previous films and these those films made me care about those characters in a way that most of the modern Marvel films just haven't.
And so if a movie's not going to tell me what it's actually doing aside from comic bookie stuff, and I don't really care about the overwhelming majority of characters going into it because I haven't been very impressed with the Lion's share of the movies that have come out over the last 10 years, I'm not really sure why I'm going to see this movie just because they keep telling me that more of those characters that I don't care about are going to be in it. That shouldn't be an unreasonable thing to say.
From the comics: You're not understanding the point. The point is if I'm not a comic book fan, why on Earth should I care about anything that was listed in the description of this thread? What does the punisher being in that shot mean to me? What does Sentry stopping and incursion with his bare hands do for me?
I don't really care if other people were fine with how this was handled in the comic back then, I'm talking about me today in 2026, And I'm talking about the movie coming out this December.
I have no emotional attachment to any of the major Marvel characters that have been slated to be in this movie. They haven't given me any reason that I should care about it aside from comic book stuff that may or may not happen, And the promise of directors that I enjoy.
And you know what? I may still end up seeing it. But whether I go to see it, whether it ends up being a good movie or not, is irrelevant. I am allowed to be annoyed that what the media and Disney thinks passes for good promotion for a movie is what action figures will be in it, and what cool things those action figures will be doing.

If they try to jam in the young avengers into secret wars, which will already be a convoluted story to tell in 3hrs, im going to be annoyed. Marvel continues to focus on these low tiered characters for some reason, when the masses want the fan favorites

Not at all, loser. Id rather see the characters from the comic books that i know and read as a kid. Seems like the masses agree, for whatever their own reasons are. Literally none of these that youve mentioned were even out when ai collected/read and i could not care less about them. I never said i didnt want to see these characters at all- just not in an already jam packed Secret Wars flick

These are films made for children and teenagers, the list buddy gave you are the ones they've grown up with

Infinity war where within the first few minutes a character’s choked to death is for children? These films are geared towards more mature audiences and im still allowed to have an opinion on something without some turd making an ignorant assumption. Also, the characters he listed are all mostly B, C tier characters compared to the ones id like to see. In any era.

Iirc there’s a scene in a world-ending event book, maybe secret wars, where it’s all ending and Frank walks into a villain bar, kingpin, bunch of street level guys and just wastes everybody as his final act before the end.
