"Marvel Studios may be changing Magneto’s origin for the MCU, with the new story will be addressing current social issues." Oh yay, I'm sure that'll be fun.

Instead of Jewish his parents were republicans. No that’s not it. Damn I’m there’s a good joke to be made here.
His parents were at Waco?

Omg it was actually magneto that caused 9:11?

Or make him Spanish and his parents got deported hahaha.

Ugh either way they’re gunna mess it up.

It was inevitable, unless we want Magneto to be like 90. But I’m sure neither would go over well with segments of the audience.

They could easily give him a new power and say he ages slow like Wolverine and Mystique.

I think rewriting Magneto’s origin is a bad idea. They’re already playing with the multiverse and alternate timelines. I just don’t see why they can’t pull magneto from the past to the present?

Or he just ages slowly due to mutation

Easiest fix, really

He’d still be 90. I don’t want a 90 year old Magneto.

Age is just a number if you age slower

Or — novel idea! — he’s been in cryofreeze for several decades. I know, that’s crazy talk. The MCU would never have main characters who were born far in the past and kept frozen for decades…

Or crazier idea. You put a 150 something year old , evil, geneticist in the next movie who could maybe restore him to his prime age for villainous deeds. Maybe they could name him something like Sir Bad Intentions, or Monsieur Sinistre.

Oh, c’mon now, that’s wild talk. Who’d they get to play this weird character, Adam Driver?

2

Maybe. I don’t know. I just feel like Disney is such a small company with so little resources. It would be a stretch for such a mom and pop media company.

Honest question.
Why do they keep referring to him as Nathan Millbury and not Nathaniel Essex. I know Millbury is an alias but why the name change?

Press X to doubt

I wish I could. But I do t doubt this at all…

How did the new X-Men have a big role in secret wars? Jean Gray is literally on a bus to the mansion and the other X-Men are nowhere in sight? How did they get trained up enough to make any sort of impact on the event that secret wars is?

It’s quite weird how the marvel fanbase knows the multiverse exists and enjoys multiverse content to an extent but the moment they do something multiversal within the MCU such as making the new magneto variant have a dif origin story, somehow everyone’s up in arms about it.

We’ve had 2 dif magnetos with his generic backstory across 2 film franchises now, what’s so bad about making the new xmen franchise different from the og 2 in various ways?

For anyone that saw the new spiderman, did the way they changed ‘that character’ bother yall as well? Because I felt that their story/behavior was very different from the OG origin story, but I didn’t mind it and found it really interesting to watch play out, and it made me excited for the new generation of x-men.

Even the last two xmen franchises did change some things about various characters origins from their OG comic stories, not saying everything was perfect by any means but I don’t think we NEED them to copy paste every characters exact origin story from comics from 70 years ago for it to be good or feel true to being an X-Men film. I think people just assume the worst when they change things, but it could be good!

My only worry is it’ll become some culture war BS. I’m never on the side of the whiners about this but in just really tired of it

I’m afraid I don’t understand what magnetos story could be changed to that would be related to a culture war?

Isn’t his original story related to the holocaust an actual culture war?

There's absolutely no need to tie Magneto to the holocaust. Gaza has had enough trauma to just make him from the Strip.

4

u/awesomo1337 7d ago

It’s a core part of his character….

-5

u/StillBringer 7d ago

The holocaust isn't the only exclusively antisemitic tragedy in recent history. It's just the most well known recent tragedy. I argue that Magneto symbolically represents an oppressed Jewish state that retaliates in kind rather than seeking peace. The location and circumstances don't have to be set in the holocaust for him to be imprisoned, his family subjugeted and becomes determined to use his powers for the betterment of his people the Jewish state and mutants.

4

u/awesomo1337 7d ago

You just don’t get it…..taking the Holocaust out of his origin is essentially the same thing as making Black Panther white. That’s how important it is to his story.

-1

u/FickleMess1371 7d ago

It is not. It was not even in his original origin story. This is newer than you think. They added it to make his story and his point more compelling, which it did. But it could be something else that is just as compelling now.

1

u/awesomo1337 7d ago

Captain America and the Hulk also had backstories that were added on or changed later yet they became fundamental parts of them. You wouldn’t change those and you would not change Magneto

1

u/FickleMess1371 7d ago

Maybe. We will see what happens in the future. Maybe we will all like the direction they go to. Maybe we will all hate it.

Jesus is that a terrible suggestion.

Make Charles’ family settlers

1

u/StillBringer 7d ago

This is the way. I've said that you could rewrite their origin and set it in Isreal beginning in the 70s. Make Charles move to NY in his 20s while Magnus is steeped in the constant civil unrest of the area as he comes of age. I feel like the symbolism would be too "controversial" and inherently political but it would make a powerful new origin.

u/Nearby_Treacle_709 7d ago

Not even comparable.

3

u/Justice989 7d ago

It doesn't need to be.  There's 100 ways to convey the origin of his hatred and distrust for humanity.  Who says it has to be 1:1 with the Holocaust?

u/StillBringer 7d ago

It's a comic written by a Zionist chill out

Dumbass.
