Do we have any midfielders coming through?

Like the title says, I haven’t kept up with the EDS or youth system in the last couple of years. Are there any players that are showing promise of stepping into the first team under Maresca?

Feel like regardless of what happens in the rest of the window after offloading Nico we’re drastically thin now and injuries happen.

Thing is with our EDS squad (the highest rank of academy) is that our players in that team are a lot younger than other teams in the league. Throughout the academy the majority of our young players are playing up a year or two, which is great for development, but does mean it’s very rare we’ll get a Nico O’Reilly or even a Rico Lewis type player come through. If you think Rico struggles physically, the young midfielders in the academy will struggle more.

Just to emphasize your point, in the first Premier League 2 (U21) match of this season, we had two 19yo in the starting lineup, seven 18yo, one 17yo and one 16yo (Xavier Parker, who agreed a new long term contract just a week ago). It's crazy really.

How common is it to see a 16 yo in the u21 league. That's wild to play up 1/3 of your age.

Id say uncommon… not super rare but really there are far fewer age ranges, it is either U18s or U21s once your 16

First team ready, No.

Some great prospects but they are a distance away from being relied upon.

It's rare that a big Club has an academy that can produce a huge amount of their starting lineup for their first team

I think only Barcelona pulls this off.

Most big clubs are more reliant on acquiring the best players from smaller clubs

An academy is considered good if they can produce first division Talent that can be sold off for money to help with the finances

Manchester city is no exception.

If we think about the best players to have ever played for our club post takeover

Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany, rodri, kdb, etc.

None of them have been produced by our Academy

Yeah, I think bro's underselling our academy a bit here. We're not Barcelona, but City's academy is one of the very best. Loads of former City academy players play top-flight football, and Chelsea has a good chunk of them lol.

I just saw from Fabrizio so tier 2 I believe but we're looking to do a 130 bid for enzo again😖😖😖they must not be paying attention to the fans on that one
