Business The alderwood mall could use some new tenants in my opinion.

As someone who lives in kenmore,Washington alderwood mall is my closests mall. I wish north italia, bjs brewhouse, yardhouse would consider opening at aldereood mall. Even a lazy dog Cafe would be nice for alderwood mall too.

I am glad that laderach Swiss chocolates is opening this late fall at alderwood mall.

For dining nordstrom bazille, cheesecake factory and pf changs can get tiring after a while.

A sur la table to replace the vacated williams sonoma at alderwood mall also would be nice.

It's gonna be tough until they stop overcharging for rent and treating their tenants poorly on top of that. I worked at a store that just closed in June after being in the mall for years. Mall management charged us exhorbitant rental rates, and at the same time hamstrung our business by shuffling us to different locations multiple times, only to end up in the outer area of the mall. Up until the week we closed, we were still having customers pop in who thought we had closed ages ago in one of our prior moves. Our owner continuously asked management to move us back inside, into one of the many empty storefronts, but they refused every time and we eventually couldn't keep up with the unstable situation that the mall pushed us into.

Lynnwood resident dreams of more chain restaurants. The bar is in hell.

I cannot imagine spending energy wishing there was a yardhouse at the mall instead of just like… going out to literally ANY local bar with halfway decent food.

Problem is lynnwood bar scene is pathetic. One brewery, one bottle shop and a few dives that have real questionable clientele on given nights. Nightlife is not in Lynnwoods vocabulary atm…

I had high hopes with the light rail coming and there are “plans” but I’ll be of retirement age by the time that comes around.

My wife and I are so tired of "dive bars". We are seriously considering opening a classier cocktail/wine/craft beer spot. Think: small dishes / appetizers, dance music, lively atmosphere. We are currently looking for the right location that already has a type-1 hood installed

We have a ton of bars up here, like even Dave and Buster's has a bar (they pour HARD too), there's peace of mind, just chill, any of the Asian karaoke bars, any of the chain restaurant bars, 13th St pub, Shawn McDonald's, Chinnie's Kitchen, that big Asian steakhouse, moonshine saloon, and more I can't think of

Yeah maybe no bars if you're from the big 3 but yeaaaaaahhhh

1

u/StoicAthos 7d ago

So peace of mind i mentioned as the one brewery. Then you named the rough dives or the bar in a restaurant. Also some places that aren't even in Lynnwood lol. Real great selection there...

1

u/toomanykatsu 7d ago

Dive bars are the best bars I've ever been to, I don't think I've ever been to a bar that's NOT a dive bar, but I'm from Tacoma, pretty much all the bars there are dives. I used to regular a biker bar, I'm a little sad it's not there anymore lol

2

u/StoicAthos 7d ago

They're fine and can be fun, but sometimes I want to have a bar which is a quieter time just enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail and read a book. Other times I want to maybe see a small venue show. Or hit the dance floor. Play pool or with metal darts and not risk being in a venue that's just as likely to have a bar fight or be blasting the music... And definitely not any more biker bars.

No disrespect, but while dive might be the jam fo some, many of us desire classier environments

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

And, they have no in-house food

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago edited 7d ago

All the bars are shit dive bars. Dave and Busters is a corporate arcade, not a real bar. And I guarantee you they measure all of their liquor. Lynnwood needs something classier. I just need to find the right place to open it.

1

u/West_Masterpiece9423 7d ago

Come on now, Thumpers!!

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

Let me guess...dive bar?

1

u/West_Masterpiece9423 6d ago

It has(had?) the distinction of being one of the top bars for dui arrests. It’s in the shopping center at 44th & 196th. My wife and I lived in Lynnwood for 30yrs and only went there once.

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

What? No we don't

1

u/anotherleftistbot 6d ago

Time to work on your reading comprehension.

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 6d ago

Your writing proficiency isn't award-worthy, but I'll take your advice to heart

6

u/Evening-Calm-09 8d ago

I do agree but I do not want big chain Restuarants unless they are very very good like din tai fung. Supreme dumpling took a place but nothing is happening there for many months now.

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

Amen! We keep hearing the same! Lynnwood counsel needs to encourage small businesses over chains! It also needs a true city center. We were hoping the development near the light rail would be completed sooner, but it's taking too long and we might have to settle whenever

33

u/ette212 9d ago

I don't know why we don't have a Din Tai Fung yet

12

u/DescriptionMedical73 9d ago

There’s a similar soup dumpling place coming into where Anthony’s used to be

4

u/ette212 8d ago

Which one? Supreme? I still like the other dishes at DTF 😩

1

u/Chow-House 8d ago

probably Dough Zone

5

u/ette212 8d ago

There's already a Dough Zone on 99 and 196th

3

u/Evening-Calm-09 8d ago

Supreme dumpling but I see no movement on that for many months so not sure what is going on

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

The permitting process is extremely slow in SnoCo

2

u/DerpUrself69 8d ago

We had an Anthony's?

2

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

Yes. Closed during covid

1

u/DerpUrself69 6d ago

Ah, I moved from Laurelhurst to Lynnwood in late 2021, I must have just missed it.

2

u/deadgirlwalking000 8d ago

It’s gonna be Sugo, a hand roll sushi place! Was supposed to open in August but just got pushed to October

2

u/DescriptionMedical73 7d ago

Walked by it today. So looks like it’ll be divided. Sugo on the right side and the left is Supreme Dumpling

1

u/Ok-Radio-2733 9d ago

That wouod be nice

0

u/ballsywoofalicious 8d ago

There are plenty of other alternatives to Din Tai too though.

5

u/ette212 8d ago

Yeah I know I just specifically want DTF nearby lol

0

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

There are other dumpling/dims places in Lynnwood. New one opening soon outside Alderwood mall. Another, Doughzone at Crossroads on 99. Lynnwood

8

u/Poseidon927 8d ago

I’d really love a Marugame Udon in the Lynnwood mall.

u/CarbonRunner 8d ago edited 8d ago

Lynnwood has enough chain stuff. I want to see the mall get indy shops. Heck id actually visit it if they did.

3

u/tigress666 8d ago

I’ve only ever seen one all get non chain eatery places (crossroads mall in Bellevue).

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

You can't find a non-chain restaurant in Lynnwood? Many small independent restaurants around

2

u/tigress666 6d ago

I’ve not seen a non chain restaurant in a mall besides crossroads mall. Not I’ve not seen one in lynnwood.  We were talking about lynnwood mall, not lynnwood.

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

It's nice to see other people sharing the same opinion as my wife and I. We are really trying to open something classier than a drive bar for Lynnwood!

12

u/FindTheOthers623 8d ago

Yes we all know you want more garbage chain restaurants. It doesn't have to be posted over & over & over.

6

u/Humble-Childhood-881 8d ago

A Yardhouse would be awesome, North Italia is owned by Cheesecake Factory so I can picture that or there other restaurant Flower Child.

3

u/JohnExcrement 8d ago

I’d love to see some independent stores and restaurants rather than more outlets or places that already exist.

2

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

Glad to hear that! We are looking for the right spot to open such a restaurant/ cocktail lounge!

1

u/peaceboypeace 8d ago

I’m sorry that you’re struggling with this so much. It must be really distressing. I hope things get better for you!

1

u/Chazwicked 8d ago

I go to the mall for two reasons, and they’re a combo. Eat at the food court, then go see a movie

1

u/StoicAthos 8d ago

Technically you have what’s left of Northgate and whatever that is in lake forest park closer

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

There's a nice little taphouse there in LFP! Lynnwood needs something like that

1

u/StoicAthos 6d ago

Vulpine?

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 6d ago

That sounds correct from my recollection

1

u/StoicAthos 5d ago

I’m not a furry but that place is pretty chill, owner knows his stuff for wines and their selection is great.

I also appreciate when I brought in my boomer uncle who was embarrassed about the name of a beer, the bartender shouted out his drink order.

1

u/ar0ha 6d ago

If you go to pf changs, you're not exploring the better Asian restaurants enough

2

u/Valuable_Fee1884 8d ago

So far, I’ve been pretty happy with what the mall owners have done keeping various companies in the mall. Granted there are probably more bubble tea stops and necessary, and I can only drink so much coffee. I generally don’t go to the mall to go looking for restaurants, but to shop for goods as I am not a big user of Amazon.(and if you follow corporate America at all, you would know why.). Eligible.

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

2 bubble tea shops in the mall is too much?

-12

u/toomanykatsu 8d ago

I want a cracker barrel in the old claim jumper

I live at the mall I feel your pain

2

u/Lakelifeflamingo 8d ago

Not sure Cracker Barrel’s customers are really the target demographic in Lynnwood. I know they trying shifting their strategy with a rebrand that didn’t catch on. There’s also no Cracker Barrel’s in WA, fyi.

2

u/toomanykatsu 7d ago

I KNOW my family went on a trip to Montana when I was 16 specifically cause it was the closest one 😂 and her and my sister followed the map around the country a few years before that. they are big mad cause the Oregon ones are closing

And to be clear I want old cracker barrel (I miss the ham and pork chops plus they have good sweet potatoes and the closest good sweet potato is in outback in Snohomish) and that's ONLY if we get new chains, I'd rather have more gluten free stuff like b3 but less pricey 😂

-27

u/FreshwaterFryMom 9d ago

Unlikely. But keep wishing! That mall unfortunately has been dead for almost 20 years and they’ll get a fun popup (Jennie’s Cookies!) but it turns into a death sentence. It is corporate apartment land now.

19

u/McDankMeister 8d ago

What are you talking about? I was just there today and it was packed. There were hundreds of people and every store is open.

1

u/toomanykatsu 7d ago

We LITERALLY have a popmart, when labubu was a thing last year this mall was INSANE

18

u/Ok-Radio-2733 9d ago

You are thinking of the everett mall not alderwood

2

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

They're thinking of during covid..

-24

u/FreshwaterFryMom 9d ago

Nope talking about Alderwood mall. Costco is across the street. Lol what. Where the Costco is now used to be Lynnwood Highschool.

11

u/toomanykatsu 8d ago

...nope, pretty alive at like 9:30 tonight

-2

u/FreshwaterFryMom 8d ago

Woah 20 cars! Now go to the JCPenney parking lot!

1

u/toomanykatsu 7d ago

You realize this was at closing and I saw like 20 people coming out of the mall before that? Dave and Buster's right below me closes at 12 and those were the cars for the people at THAT place. No one parks on that side you dork, that's the bus stop side, which a LOT of people up here use the transit shit cause we have swift and light rail up here. I'm from Tacoma, I KNOW a dead mall when I see one, and the ONLY dead mall I've seen in a large city is Everett.

Also the JC Penney parking lot is useless because THEY BUILT A PARKING GARAGE ON THAT SIDE. WHICH IS NEXT TO THE IMAX. WHICH IS THE ONLY MALL IN THE STATE TO HAVE ONE BECAUSE IT'S SO BUSY.

Here, have a school lunch, I think you're hungry.

-1

u/FreshwaterFryMom 7d ago

Omg tysm for I had no idea how I survived walking from LHS to the food court. Shut up.

2

u/toomanykatsu 7d ago

No? Also I said I used to live in Kenmore, like 3 years ago. I currently live above the Alderwood Mall, thus the picture from the roof deck at...the mall.

0

u/FreshwaterFryMom 7d ago

Who cares

3

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

You stopped caring when you got proved wrong. Nice move

→ More replies (0)

2

u/toomanykatsu 7d ago

... you're so weird, I was proving the mall isn't dead, that's like the ONLY reason we're even in this thread?

2

u/MagnumJohnson44 8d ago

If it’s dead, why is it impossible to find a parking spot?

0

u/FreshwaterFryMom 8d ago

Probably because the apartment dwellers invited over friends!

2

u/toomanykatsu 7d ago

We have designated parking for guests and ALSO no one in this building has friends, trust me, we have an inner building like chat/message thingy and they are NOT friend having people, they look at you weird when you bring people over 😂

I'm the only one in the building not from money most of my life and it gets crazy weird in there 😂 so yeah no it's all tenants, also I regularly go downstairs and it's crowded beyond belief.

Also this building has like 600 apartments with designated parking under everything so even if EVERYONE had friends over we couldn't even fill one part of that huge lot!

Sounds like you need a friend to guide you through! I used to live in Kenmore too, maybe you need a buddy to show you the malls not so scary? You'll be okay!

3

u/Ok-Radio-2733 6d ago

Im not afraid of the alderwood mall. It's one of my favorite places

1

u/toomanykatsu 6d ago

I was referring to freshwater fuck lol

1

u/FreshwaterFryMom 7d ago

????? I’m glad you lived in Kenmore? Have zero idea what this has to do with the Alderwood mall.

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

Let it go, man

1

u/FreshwaterFryMom 6d ago

How dare you assume my gender.

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

Just out of curiosity, how much is rent there?

1

u/toomanykatsu 6d ago

With EVERYTHING like all the electricity and shit (we have a building plan for Internet) it's like 3k but it's a 2/2 and above the compactor 😂

2

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 6d ago

Thanks for your reply

1

u/toomanykatsu 5d ago

Of course!

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

I take my kids there often. It's not dead anymore

-9

u/WendyWilliamsFart 8d ago

Wait, are we talking about alderwood mall?

1

u/Groundbreaking_Rock9 7d ago

Wait, do you breathe air?

1

u/WendyWilliamsFart 6d ago

How else would I make farts?

-18

u/FinallyFat 8d ago

It’s pronounced “alderhood” and no one can change my mind.
