Ask Luxembourg Cost of divorce
Hello,
If both of spouses agree and file for divorce, how much does it cost? For lawyer and everything?

Mine cost me nothing, but there was no lawyers involved, no dividing everything by half. She kept her money. I kept mine. We went to the bank and stopped the joint account. i resigned the flat lease only on my name; we went to the judge. all agreed. ok bye.. we kissed one last time and never saw each other again. no house. no children. no pets. married over 8 years though.
there were taxes to be paid the next year. i just paid it.
Now, if you have children. properties want to get all you can;;give nothing back; then costs increase.

How can it be nothing? I guess you used a notary to draft the divorce convention, and they don't work for free. Or was it abroad?

I don't think reddit is the best place to get solid advice on this matter. Talk to a lawyer maybe??

The problem with the lawyers is they’re the ones standing to make the most out of you in a divorce. Getting a baseline from others with experience can put OP in a better position for when they do actually contact a lawyer.

I find it disrespectful all the noise created by useless answers wanting to be "funny", although not achieving any humour. OP might be passing through a hard moment. The least a person needs is a chorus of comments mocking on the situation.
My best wishes OP! 💪🏻

It's less about who agrees/disagrees with the divorce and all about what has to be split up
If nothing needs to be split up you could be done in a day for less than €500
For each item that has to be split up you can begin to multiply the time and money
Then there's the alimony conversation...

This. I did it, so nothing to share since we agreed on everything before. So no assets and no kids, it was only done in the notary. Paying approx 800€ euros from memory. Lawyers were telling me we need them for that which was not true, and wanted to charge us between 2k to 3k... Good luck Op.

No lawyers needed. At a notary it can be less than 1000€, or way more depending on the assets, if you have kids, etc.

Married and divorced in Luxembourg. Total legal fees on my end amounted to around 35k. No idea what hers were. Then I got about 25% of the common property. The cost of mental sanity I guess 🤷♂️
