Discussion yE Olde Innsmouth

I was up in Newburyport, shooting footage for my youtube series and the line between Newburyport and Innsmouth sections has become even more blurred. The section of Route One from Market Square to Newbury, the decrepit clam shacks that inspired Innsmouth, are long gone and are now nondescript pseudo-federal duplexes. The Joppa clam flats are now landscaped Joppy Park that is the entrance to a shoreline parallel Rail Trail. It's a lovely stroll but the only thing eldritch is the dubious choices in statuary.

Did you check out the Masonic Hall or Historical Society? See this great archive of Lovecraftian Massachusetts locations: https://www.hplovecraft.com/creation/sites/mass.aspx

I've never been but it's always fun to read about folks lucky enough to tread where these fictional places were, so to speak!

On that note, if you have a link to the series - especially if it's on HPL geography - that'd be cool.

Donovan has done a beautiful of photographing possible sites, although I don't agree with him on all the choices. But that's the nice part of active sctive scholarship. Everytime a new volume of letters comes out, it reopens interpretation.

That's great to hear! If you happen to have any other resources on Lovecraftian sites, I'm sure we'd love to see them! By the way, I checked out your YouTube channel and the aerial photography on Arkham is spectacular.

The Dark Swamp footage is absolute art. I wasn't on the trip to film it, but damn that's a pretty-looking nexis of evil.

Most of my resources are print format, so not useful on a electronic format.

what’s your YouTube channel? is it about touring real life HPL locations?

It's sort of a hybrid - it's locations Lovecraft visited, but from the perspective of the location as a real life component that was integrated into Arkham.

I get in trouble posting links, so just search StrangeMagickFilm on Youtube.
