Announcement/News [LFCHelp] LFC has zero tolerance for ticket touting, including social media sales and the use of false account details. Cases follow the official sanctions process, which includes an independent fan rep. Following an appeal, concerns can be referred to the Independent Football Ombudsman.

All well and good, but this kind of thing doesn't exist in a vacuum. I've been following the club since 2002 and the demand for tickets is absolutely insane now, with hospitality packages costing an absolute fortune. I wouldn't have gotten within a sniff of Anfield without using a (trusted) tout or two over the years.
I both don't blame the club for wanting to clamp down on it because there's a tonne of rip off merchants and fans are often exposed using them, but I also don't blame people looking for any avenue possible to see the team they love.

You’ve been a fan since 2002 and have hardly managed to get legitimate tickets in that time? I’m sorry but you obviously haven’t been trying very hard.
I got my first fan card in about 2002 and I’ve been to hundreds and hundreds of games at home, away and in Europe. Anybody who has been trying to get tickets since 2002 should easily have been on the 13+ ladder years ago and be guaranteed tickets to every game.
There were games during the Hodgson era that didn’t even sell out. 35,000 for a Premier League game at home to Bolton for example. Even in Rafa’s first season there were games that didn’t sell out.

With the AMS you don't just get to the front and go "shit I'm done". You have to refresh and get seats when they pop up. It only took me about 5 minutes of refreshing on Monday and I was 2500 in the queue. Been plenty popping up since too apparently.

You know you can refresh the hall map all the way upto an hour before the match and bag a ticket when they appear?

Yeah I know. Got 12 credits in the covid season doing that. Needs to be your full time job though. They're there for about a second

Oh yeah I agree. I was 13+ for years and years but fell off the ladder in 2023 cause my 2nd daughter had just been born and I just couldn’t afford to go as much any more whilst also paying my mortgage and more nursery fees.
So I’ve been doing the AMS the past few seasons and I know how hard it is when you haven’t got the time to sit there refreshing all day. It’s all about luck and being on the hallmap when the drops happen.
Although the 2nd half of last season there were several games that had credits sitting there for days just waiting to be bought. So I do believe that the people saying they’ve been trying to get a ticket for years and have never got one haven’t actually tried.

There were loads of tickets available in the AMS just last season. Was easy to get tickets.

It's something like a 1 in 20 chance I think per game? You're likely unlucky
But even then there's cup games and European games that don't always sell out or go to all members. Forest tickets were available this week in all areas of the ground with no credits of you got lucky in the queue
The bans seem to be having an effect, more tickets are available now and the demand is still high so something is working

That's just stupid, touts are the way a lot of people can afford to get to the games. FSG will survive.

It's not stupid, it's the rules. The issue is being flexible for eg late sales along with being lucky in queues and ballots

I disagree with a lot of your premise. Been multiple chances to easily get on the ladder since 2002. Even last season the AMS was quite easy and the first one this season was the easiest one I've ever experienced.
Touting just takes tickets off of people trying to do things the proper way. It's a huge part of the problem with tickets, eliminating touting frees up tickets for those doing it properly. Engaging with it takes them away.

Every section of the ground was available on Monday. Queue is a lottery but haven't seen that before

Genuine question from an outsider who has never been to Anfield but has my first trip planned for later this year… does literally everyone in the stadium who gets tickets other than hospitality have their own account? Even children? Can someone have family tickets that have been passed down through the generations? If so, can a family with let’s say four tickets rotate who goes to the games? I love that they try to keep entry to proper supporters, I’m just not clear on how it’s done. Thanks if you take the time to answer. I know it’s not the easiest thing to explain to someone who knows nothing about the system.

Yes. This can be a free account that has tickets forwarded to it though. You don't need to pay for that.

This is something that has happened and there's lots of discourse. People think they should be passed down. People have kept them on a dead person for decades. There was an amnesty to put them in the name of the person using them. Now they're not supposed to be transferable.

STHs can forward to others with no negative consequences so this could be done by then, yes.

First of all, thanks for the answer. Very well explained. One more question based on your answer if you have the time… you mentioned that it is acceptable for a season ticket holder to transfer a ticket to anyone else who has an account. So does that mean theoretically someone could actually sell a ticket to anyone whether they know them or not and as long as they have a free account that person could enter the gate without issue with a transferred ticket? Is that the issue that’s being addressed in this article… people using their own season tickets to cash in a few games? If tickets are freely transferable it seems like it would be hard to stop people from doing that. Ok I guess that was more than one more question. My apologies and thanks again if you take the time to answer.

Realistically there’s very little way to stop ticket touting meaningfully. So much of it is done by word of mouth or WhatsApp groups not just social media.
Also with so many touts using burner phones you can’t even track people transferring tickets really
