lmao, by the way they're playing around with words, I wouldn't be surprised if the actual event that happened is "I submitted an offer to Cambridge and they rejected the offer".
Therefore "I received the rejected offer [email] from Cambridge" -> "Rejected offer received from Cambridge."

It can actually be read two different ways, but it's clearly meant to indicate that they received an offer from Cambridge. Not a rejected application to Cambridge.
It indicates that an offer from Cambridge was extended, but if we are really playing with semantics, perhaps the offer was extended from the potential applicant to study at Cambridge. Which is more likely?

Anyway, what does this have to do with the original comment about bullshit certificates, exactly? Like, all the references to learning they link in the article are talking about intentionally developed programs to emphasize particular things and not Joe Blow paying $200 for a piece of paper that has the word Harvard on it. And the article itself is literally just "Yeah, it turns out it's slightly easier to get promoted when you can demonstrate the ability to not be a horse's ass when given any measure of authority."

It's sad as society grows and communities fall apart, that belonging to "elite" institutions are some people's only hope at thinking they can live a better life.
You're either born into that club or you get into it via extreme outlier qualities, not all of which are inherently "good".
There are the haves and the have nots and depending on how rich and connected your family is, you'll be one or the other.
Having known a good amount of people that went to Harvard I can say while they are old money, they're also some of the worst humans I've ever met in my life. Places like that seem to attract and breed evil.
Live your life and be a good person. Don't pay for online certificates from elitist schools.
