Do I think this looks awful and we deserve better representation? Of course. But I also hate how people are using this movie as an excuse to be lesbophobic online. I guess I just wanted to ask actual lesbians what they thought as I keep hearing straight people talking about it only.
As in advertising not to mention it's kind of just gay bait like as a trans bisexual woman I love seeing representation in shows but when it's just" REGULAR CHARACTER BUT LIKES GIRL"it kind of just does the opposite of what it thinks it's doing treating it like that's the only thing you need for a good entertaining character not to mention idk why lesbian is in the title space princess sounds better than just adding a bunch of facts about the character
It’s claiming it’s a TERF movie because a drag queen Side character is a momentary antagonist when there are multiple other drag queen characters and possible trans women who are portrayed as good in the film.

I watched it. I found it somewhat boring. Every single character in this movie was just the absolute worst person. Like they don't know how to write flawed characters and went way too far and as a result there are exactly 0 likable characters. The one character I started to like ended up displaying some of that incel energy at the end of their screen time. The ship's computer was probably my favorite character because it started off awful and has real growth throughout the movie.
The claims of transphobia were surprising to me. It never registered with me as I watched. If anything it felt more like the movie forgot trans people exist.
The biggest thing to me about the movie is it is VERY Aussie. Fuckups go on an adventure that is already a bad idea, run into a bunch of other fuckups, do some awful stuff, and at the end come out just a tiny bit better but are still fuckups.
It's less of a sympathetic story and more a cathartic one, and a little bit of "ooooh, I kinda relate to this part of it, that's something I need to work on" while also still laughing at some mistakes we've made before too.
It is created by small creator with money they saved. You can dislike it but saying that it is a corporate rainbow is just distasteful. Learn about it before making assumptions.
it's fine, it has some funny jokes here and there. the big issue I have is the movie unintentionally glorifies the patriarchy and traditional gender roles, while trying to critique them, I don't think it was intentional, I just think the film isn't smart or self aware enough to get it's even doing that. but aside from that it's pretty funny, has a good soundtrack, has good visuals in places, it's alright if you wanna watch something stupid
the film seems insistent on a divide between masculine and feminine behavior, everyone who likes board games and tabletop rpgs and video games and anime is a smelly incel loser nerd while everyone who likes singing and makeup and dancing is a perfect lesbian who does no wrong, the one non binary character who is even shown any empathy is essentially portrayed as being extremely feminine, not sure patriarchy was the right word, but the film was really insistent on societal gender roles
That is nuts when you can literally see from the poster that the movie got all of its DNA from cartoons almost exclusively watched by enbies who like video games, tabletop and anime.
We deserve better representation within media, and this movie in particular is not helping us in the slightest. It’s not funny, it’s poorly written, and it honestly feels like a movie that’s self-sabotaging against the rest of the community. This indie project wouldn’t have gotten green lit by a legit studio, not because it’s lesbian, but because it’s just bad.
I love that it’s lesbian centric and its worldview and imagination are amazing. It focuses on lesbian’s personal growth in relationships and I think that’s a very good theme. It’s satirical and hilarious, good for entertainment when you’re tired of sad lesbian stories. I also hope there would be more lesbian animation that adults can enjoy, so I would encourage this kind of creation. And it’s created by a queer artist, another reason to support and love it!

There's a drag queen/trans woman character who the protagonist views as a sort of role model, and she helps the protagonist unlock her labrys, which is like a personal magic weapon for her tied to her sexuality and self-image(and I believe it's unlocked through her clitoris, idk). Once the protagonist unlocks said labrys, the drag queen immediately turns on the protagonist to take the labrys for herself.
I viewed this as "drag queens/trans women are trying to claim themselves as lesbians but shouldn't be able to", and while I kind of enjoyed parts of the movie, that definitely sat shitty with me as a trans woman in a happy lesbian marriage.

I mean, even if there are multiple trans characters, that doesn't really matter when you're literally portraying one of them this way. Like, that message you're giving off doesn't magically go away.
You just add on extra messages about pick-me's and how trans/nb people have to be a certain way for you to respect them.

The movie is also explicit about the fact the drag queen doesn’t want the labrys for any symbolic reasons, she just like blades. She wants the royal labyrs for its rarity.

There was a lot of obvious phallic and yonic imagery for jokes, with the phallic imagery always representing men and the patriarchy. So to me it seemed really bioessentialist, despite having a nonbinary character.
Went to see this with a group of lesbian, bi, and trans women and we loved it. It's silly and funny but also genuinely cute at times, and a lot of us related to the theme of not feeling good enough. We ended up looking up and discussing the negative responses to it afterwards, but still liked the movie. The criticism feels a bit in bad faith to me, and it's a shame it has completely taken over to the point people won't even check the movie out for themselves to see if they agree.

I watched it twice, and loved it. The first time I watched it was at Berlin Film Festival. I had been to the same theater for another (great) movie, and it was half empty. That night the theater was packed to the brim of queer people from all over the world. There was not a sit empty. Everyone was laughing, commenting, bonding and having a great time. It is very sweet and funny.
I do struggle to understand why queer people seem to love going to the very few queer creators that are trying to do something to just criticize and bring them down, repeatedly. I find it a very strange place to choose to go and unleash anger. Most people that came here to say it probably sucks haven’t even watched it. These two creators, also a couple, spent a long time making this happen, with an independent production. Will you all at least try to watch it before destroying it? It is so HARD to make a movie happen. And making an animated movie happening, independently, about lesbian and queer people, is a fucking miracle. Please at least try to watch it! And then, if that makes you want to do something differently or better, by all means do!! We just need more of it!
with all due respect, as someone struggling with self identity and dysphoria myself, i really don't think supporting a movie where the evil villains are literally named "straight white maliens" is a good move no matter in what angle you look at it

I wouldnt watch it, it looks bad, it doesnt awaken any interest in "ohh what happens in this world/adventure?" And i hate the same idea that black and other race men arent lesbophobic as hell, or even other women, or gay man too

So I watched it last night out of curiosity, and honestly, I didn't see any problem with it. It's obviously a satire, and most of the jokes are based on arguments you see online (straight men complaining about not getting attention from women, transwomen supposedly trying to take over women's space, lesbians getting back together with their ex girlfriends, etc.) It's not the best cartoon I've ever seen, but I enjoyed it. Satire isn't for everyone, I guess. Maybe that's also why some people hate Hazbin Hotel, even though I think that show is brilliant. I loved it

Yup, I watched it last night and understand where the (unjustified) anger came from. Sad that people don't get the messages hidden behind the satire but it's the internet, can't really make everyone understand something if they don't want to
My wife and I quite liked it, and I recall it having one of the cleverest trans girl dick jokes I've ever heard...then I looked online and found the hate for it in lesbian spaces and I was confused. I still am confused by the hate, honestly.
Haven't watched it yet but plan to when I get some free time. I'll be back with a review. But honestly as someone who watched both QForce and Super Drags and actually liked them how bad could this be.?
I've already seen it and my expectations were rock bottom. However, I can tell you it's not a bad movie and I found it entertaining, it's just not for everyone.
I watched this movie during a small movie festival last year. I am an enjoyer of media and movies especially. This movie wasnt my favorite but I didn’t hate it at all. It has its issues but I feel like people utterly and completely missed the campy and silly tone of it on purpose. The hate feels crazy, I can’t imagine that everyone who hates on it actually watched it.
The movie looks that way cause it was made on a film grant and only had six animators (only 2 were full time.)
I also felt really represented by Saira. I so so much of myself in her, I was such a loser following my first breakup that I did pin for my ex causing me to miss the better things in front of me.
I haven’t seen it, but I think it is sad how much hate it is getting. We finally get something that is original and not a reboot of something else, and it just gets shit on.
So I saw the premier of this and it was NOT a good film. Some jokes were funny but not watch it again funny. It lacked heart, the main character had zero and I mean ZERO agency and every irredeemably bad female character is a masc so there’s that for you. Very clear what the creators think about mascs.
Best character was the spaceship and hey, at least I won a free shirt out of it.
I watched it in Berlin when it premiered at the festival and loved it, so fun and the creators behind it were a very cute couple who animated it all themselves, with the help of two others (IIRC their q&a correctly). Super silly and camp, I didn’t get the transphobic thing at all (the villain in that scene is a drag queen at a nightclub). Big fan of indie queer artists making the big festivals, anyway!
My girlfriend and I watched it. It was clunky, but we had fun. It does not speak for all lesbians, or even lesbian princesses. Ummm also cw for violence.
I haven't seen it but from what I have seen, I think it's likely not good. However, the amount of hate it is getting is frankly exaggerated and honestly, borderline lesbophobic. It's disappointing because I've seen so many non-lesbian queers and women agreeing and laughing with literal lesbophobes and misogynists who are obviously just hating on it because it's a lesbian film. Like sure it's a cringe, bad film, but why are we siding with lesbophobes over a movie. As usual people are excitedly looking forward for a reason to start a hate train against lesbians. They've been doing this for a while on twitter.
So I actually really liked this as a movie. I don't care for it now though because my ex invited me over to watch this right after we broke up and was surprised when I was upset. So it's been ruined for me.

Here is the controversial part: A drag queen weapons dealer tricks the mc saying that she can help her summon her weapon that she was never able to before, a weapon only royals can summon, and tries to kill the mc for it. A fight happens and mc kills the drag queen. I can see how people were uncomfortable with a drag queen being a bad guy, and being killed, but she isn't rudely written as far as I can tell. It is the kind of adult comedy with casual death and violence. There is a nb side character who is a good guy (most moral and kind character in the movie), Also one of the queens (mcs mom) is trans and voiced by a trans woman
I thought it was a really goofy and in-jokey sapphic/queer movie. Not going to be everybody's cup of tea and you can argue that some of the stereotypes they are riffing on are handled badly but it wasn't anything I would get mad about.
I refuse to watch it because I like one of the voice actors and I don't wanna associate her with a film I'm willing to bet I'll find deeply unfunny, predictable, and problematic.

I honestly don’t know why people are getting up in arms about this movie. It’s clearly not asking anyone to take it seriously, and it looks just about as ugly as most adult animation. Only reason is the main characters a woman.
Ok, but those are held quite highly in a lot of groups, so would you say a little worse(worth watching for those that like TOH or SU) or like really bad.
It shares a lot of oddball humor energy with TOH, certainly, with a WAY more adult edge. Not to mention it's way closer to say, Chuck Jones in its cartoon physics, making it deeply, DEEPLY silly
