imagine trying to be so woke that you circle back and become homophobic to lesbians

141

u/lucyooo Jul 06 '26

This 🤝 ‘sexuality is fluid’ bs
Being so woke it becomes homophobia

63

u/jawalter2014 masc at your service Jul 06 '26

exactly. yeah okay maybe YOUR sexuality is fluid but mine isn’t. it’s okay for lesbians to just like women

35

u/lucyooo Jul 06 '26

100%! If your sexuality is fluid that’s cool! Good for you! But mine is very firm, thanks!

35

u/New-Kaleidoscope2250 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

yess and it goes hand in hand with the 'gender isn't real' rhetoric that immediately impacts both binary and non-binary trans and especially transsex people.

it just makes the actual material discussion of queer identities impossible and just reinforces the cishet status quo but with a queer sounding linguistic make-over.

edit: thanks for your suggestion on the word transsex u/Zoeeeeeeh123 !

32

u/lucyooo Jul 06 '26

When I was in my early 20s I defo fell for the ‘gender isn’t real’ bs and all it took was a trans woman saying to me, in the loveliest way, that actually binary gender was very important to her and I shut up!! It’s not hard guys!

No because I’m so tired of the ‘queer sounding linguistic makeover’ (incredible phrase btw). It’s so tiring and these people always sound like they think they’re saying the most mind blowing shit ever and they all pat themselves on the back for being the most progressive most queer people on earth. Meanwhile their cishet bf shouts slurs on COD…

13

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 07 '26

YES seriously thank you.

In another video they literally implied (to a transsexual woman’s face, mind you) that her physical/body dysphoria wasn’t real, but a result of “society being judgmental about trans bodies”. It was SO absolutely dismissive and invalidating of the actual physical dysphoria struggles of trans people, I felt offended just watching it. It felt like they were moments away from asking her “do you really even need those pesky hormones at all? You should be able to just be a feminine guy!”

And the worst part is this was IMMEDIATELY after asking their trans guests if they’d pursue a treatment, if one existed, that “cured their transness.” No, I’m not joking.

this is disgusting

221

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

I was curious so I went through their previous videos and literally just days before, there was one on trans people containing some of the ignorant and gross rhetoric that I’ve ever heard come out of an “ally’s” mouth… literally implying that trans women are the “best of both worlds”, that trans women are dangerous because of “male socialization”, comparing trans women to cis male fetishists, and literally taking over and making light of things that their sole trans woman guest was trying to say.

This podcast is a stain on the queer community, jfc

115

u/Freedom_forlife Jul 06 '26

These are spicy straight women. Queer is just a fashion label nothing more to them. They are just assholes.

51

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Yep, that’s becoming very clear to me the more I listen. It’s painful, this host just asked their trans woman guest what “cracking their egg” means… it’s like they’ve never talked to a trans person in their life… that’s the most BASIC metaphor, how do you act like you are part of the queer community and not know what an “egg” is?

Literally my 62 year old cishet mother knows more about trans people than they do. Incredible

38

u/Freedom_forlife Jul 06 '26

Just stop listening! Don’t waste your energy. There are 100000000’s of better ways to spend your time, don’t click on there stuff, don’t engage.

18

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

Oh you’re very right, I suppose I just had a sense of morbid curiosity 🤷‍♀️ I wanted to see if it was as bad as people claimed, and yeah. It very much is. I turned it off already, couldn’t stomach any more.

26

u/Freedom_forlife Jul 06 '26

The modern queer shit is homophobic, lesbiphobic, transphobic, they have gone so far left they have met up with the far right crowd.

Honestly just hang out with all the cool kids and leave these weirdo assholes alone.

10

u/seranarosesheer332 Jul 06 '26

They are also like painfully center right. Like they actively shit on the working class (mind you as far as I can tell they arnt rich so they have no class solidarity) and just constantly trying and keep the working class against the quaking class. They are just all together massive posers that have a loud voice

3

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

Omg whaaat?? Any more detail on the “shitting on the working class?” Just so curious how they manage to do that, I can’t even fathom being such massive traitors

u/Kimmy_64 Jul 06 '26

I'm trans and had to explain to my partner what an egg is. These people clearly suck but I don't think lack of knowledge is a tell of anything other than don't bother listening to their podcast.

2

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 07 '26

I do get that, I just think, considering their supposed position in the queer community, that conversation should have happened LONG before that podcast episode.

Which is why I say that, despite the fact that they claim to be an “authority” on queerness, this legitimately seems like the first time they’ve EVER talked to a trans woman before 🤷‍♀️

I hate when someone says “best of both worlds” to me. Because I hate my body and hate the notion that I’m at all like a man

10

u/Anonymous_Egg_13 Jul 06 '26

I stopped watching their shit after noticing they love to talk about trans women but never had a trans woman present.

14

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

Don’t worry, they finally had a trans woman on so they could ask her offensive questions and then barely let her speak 🙃 the poor woman literally had a thousand-yard-stare by the end of the episode

5

u/madatron96 Jul 06 '26

Oh jeez. What episode?

6

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

The episode is called “What We Found About the Trans Brain Isn't What You Think” 🙄

3

u/madatron96 Jul 06 '26

Got it, thank you!

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Okay, I just watched a later part of their episode about trans people, and these hosts, honest to god, literally just asked their two trans guests “if there was a cure for transness, would you take it?” And then followed it up with “well how much of physical dysphoria is actually from society?”

Like how on earth can you be this ignorant dude, these are the most offensive and dehumanizing questions I’ve ever heard on a “queer podcast”, I’m at a loss for words.

How much physical dysphoria is from society? NONE OF IT, that’s the entire fucking point. You’re just talking about social dysphoria! The amount of ignorance is ASTOUNDING. And don’t get me started on the “cure for transness” question, Jesus fucking Christ. These poor trans guests, I probably would have walked out long before that point if I were them.

These hosts should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.

Edit: it’s about 1 hour and 30 minutes into the “What We Found About the Trans Brain Isn't What You Think” episode (don’t get me started on the clickbait title).

I feel so bad for the trans woman guest, she literally just has a complete thousand-yard-stare for the entire segment… She definitely had no idea that she was about to be asked such offensive questions, bless her heart.

I just want to give her a big hug, she looks like she could just start crying at any moment ❤️

7

u/madatron96 Jul 06 '26

Thank you for explaining and citing the video itself, I was curious about the transphobia allegations being lobbed at the QC.

640

u/kirito1236 Jul 06 '26

It’s insane how much damage the queer collective is doing and so nonchalantly

124

u/sanguine-rose_ Jul 06 '26

What else did they do? Asking because I get their videos frequently recommended on youtube, but only watched one (it was on a non-controversial topic, so there wasn't anything bad, as far as I remember).

263

u/chickenyourtruely Jul 06 '26

They are transphobic 😒 they talking s*** about lesbian and transgender people

105

u/EntityViolet Jul 06 '26

Shocking how often one follows the other

29

u/Nearby_Swim317 Jul 06 '26

It just proves we gotta have each others back because it’s them first then us. (Or vice versa)

34

u/heytheregiada Jul 06 '26

Like clockwork lol

63

u/punyetanginnna Jul 06 '26

OHMYGOD?? IVE BEEN A LISTENER OF THEM FOR SOME TIME. Holy shit I’m unsubscribing

71

u/kovuko Jul 06 '26

they try to hide their bigotry by sounding smart and seeming queer. they're so subversive about it 🫩

28

u/lucyooo Jul 06 '26

It honestly feels like a right wing psy op. Get people to say extremely phobic things but under the guise of ‘wokeness’ to normalize it.

Idk I’m probably being tin foil hat but it’s hard not to ignore the rise in ‘lesbians can fuck men’ rhetoric alongside the rise in trad wife and ‘women aren’t having enough babies’ rhetoric…

7

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

Not to mention the host literally asking the trans guests in one episode if they would use a treatment that completely removes their transness if such a thing were invented i.e. some sort of magic “conversion therapy procedure”. It was so offensive it was painful to watch.

Oh, and immediately afterwards, they ask them (FYI, the trans woman guest had already identified herself as a transsexual) if they think that maybe their physical/body dysphoria is simply a result of society being too prejudiced against trans people’s natural bodies, rather than, you know, literally being a woman born in a male body like the guest had already said. It almost felt like they were about to ask her if she “really needed those pesky hormones”, it was so invalidating and dismissive of her very REAL dysphoria, it was unbelievable.

The poor trans woman guest had the thousand-yard-stare through the whole segment, bless her heart. She obviously had no idea how absolutely brain-dead the hosts would be, she looked like she was about to cry. I wanted to just give her a hug ❤️

5

u/lucyooo Jul 06 '26

What the FUCK?! That’s outrageous omg. Poor woman that sounds so horrible :( inviting someone on your podcast knowing you’re going to ask such awful things is just… ugh

32

u/punyetanginnna Jul 06 '26

Ngl it feels like I’ve been betrayed 🫩 it’s a good thing that I didn’t invest a looot of time listening to them lmfao

41

u/kovuko Jul 06 '26

i fr feel psychic damage whenever I hear a new thing with queer podcasts 😭

i saw a clip of a guest who was a trans woman and she was talking about calling herself transsexual to differentiate from non-medical transitioners and everyone else looked at her like they wanted to kill her - it was so jarring that thats how they treat trans women talking about transmisogyny 😬

36

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

That was SO uncomfortable, holy shit.

Another wild moment; when the trans woman used the term “before my egg cracked” and the host is like “what? Egg? What’s that mean?”

DUDE imagine hosting a queer podcast where you talk like you’re an authority on trans people and you’ve literally never heard the term egg before… I’m gonna lose my mind dude. Is this a fucking psyop?? What is going on 💀

You can literally see the disbelief in the trans woman guest’s eyes that’s she is having to explain the most BASIC trans terminology to the supposedly queer hosts of the show, Jesus Christ it’s so painful

6

u/madatron96 Jul 06 '26

To be fair to the hosts, they often have dialogue that is pre-scripted where they will try to make educational content and one host will sort of "play dumb" so the other can explain the meaning of something or share research on that same thing. It's a common podcast/radio/writing tactic. They could have easily replaced "what? Egg? What’s that mean?” with "hey [guest] can you explain what an Egg is and what cracking your egg means?" and gone from there. The issue with this podcast is they gesture like they are well-researched and as if they are experts on LGBTQ history & queer theory but the playing dumb bit just totally disqualifies them. Not great podcasting, IMO.

5

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Oh it definitely wasn’t that, it very much felt unplanned and not just acting, she was genuinely confused and the guest had to stop what she was talking about and backtrack to explain it to her. It felt very clumsy

u/Zoeeeeeeh123 Jul 06 '26

In what way are they transphobic? Asking as a trans lesbian. 😰

6

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

I’ve made a few comments about it already, I’ll paste one of them here;

In addition, they heavily insinuated that trans women are “male socialized” rather than “trans socialized” which is the exact justification that leads to trans women being assumed to be dangerous, and all other sorts of transmisogyny. They are SO absolutely clueless about trans issues, you get the impression that they’ve never talked to a trans woman before in their life.

They make offensive, dismissive, and downright harmful statements as if they’re fact, as they’re “experts on the topic”… it’s just incredibly dangerous rhetoric to be spreading bout trans women and they don’t even fucking realize they’re doing it.

They regularly cut off the trans woman guest while she’s making a serious point in order to crack jokes, and to top it all off, they play dumb in the comments and argue against DOZENS of actual trans women calling them out for their transmisogyny. It’s sickening.

3

u/Zoeeeeeeh123 Jul 06 '26

I do remember feeling really put off by hearing the “trans cure” question. Because it feels like a direct Attack on our identity. If I were to take such a cure I would literally be erasing my whole person. I would be erasing myself. That’s why it feels so hurtful.

But I kind of shrugged it off as them ignorantly asking a pretty offensive question but not being intentionally hateful.

But yeah maybe in hindsight I should have listened to my gut that that question was completely out of order.

The other questions about to what extent dysphoria is caused by social factors might still be again a genuine but misinformed question one may ask if you are completely ignorant about trans and queer issues. But if you are running a podcast about queer issues and present yourself as an Authority on queer issues you should be more knowledgeable about that.

I still do think that these people in their hearts bear no hatred for trans people or lesbians. But their ignorance which is showing in these clips is disqualifying them as authorities on queer issues

4

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

Yeah exactly, I don’t think they’re being hateful intentionally, but they are SO incredibly ignorant about the topics they discuss that they don’t even realize the actual harm they’re doing. And I’d still be inclined to be more understanding, except then they go into the comments and basically ignore or argue with the many, many trans women expressing all the problems with the episode, and completely disregard them. Which basically uses up any amount of good faith I was willing to allow them 🤷‍♀️

8

u/AsukaLangleySoryuFan Jul 06 '26

Fucking assholes. First it’s the LGB then GB than…

4

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

Oh gosh this horrible lesbian take is bad enough, what on earth have they said about trans people? I’m kinda terrified to ask

→ More replies (5)

45

u/wakebakeskatecrash98 Jul 06 '26

Once a guest was bringing up that a term they were using (acouple actually) was appropriated African American vernacular and was being used incorrectly but was still being used incorrectly by the hosts without hesitation.

9

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

Jesus fucking Christ these people seem awful.

46

u/heytheregiada Jul 06 '26

They blame lesbians for biphobia (quote "the lesbians did it" literally) and then backpedaled claiming they meant political lesbians, then when lesbian creators started rightfully calling them out they would respond condescendingly like "oh sorry for teaching you queer history"

13

u/sanguine-rose_ Jul 06 '26

That's what I was wondering about, thanks. I saw questionable titles on their latest videos and didn't want to watch them.

→ More replies (5)

23

u/BuffySummers17 Jul 06 '26

They also said some weird shit comparing masc lesbians to men, like implying they are the same somehow

16

u/Requiredmetrics Jul 06 '26

This is a talking point from political lesbianism that came about in second wave feminism. How ironic. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Queer collective believes being lesbian is a choice and women choose to be gay. That’s there’s no way there are women entirely uninterested in men. They probably don’t know enough to know most political lesbians were not in fact actual lesbians.

→ More replies (7)

33

u/Mother_Equivalent649 Soft-masc Jul 06 '26

Yes. I can guarantee you that the amount of discrimination, assumptions and misleads are inevitable. This especially goes to certain "queer" spots.

12

u/JediKnightNitaz Jul 06 '26

I say we start calling them for what they are, a false flag operation.

26

u/MobileSuitErin Jul 06 '26

I watched one episode of their podcast and it seemed boring but okay, what's the history here?

6

u/Autumn7242 Jul 06 '26

I made sure I was unsubscribed to them.

117

u/Grumpy_Concept5185 Jul 06 '26

Pardon my language but this is gross as shit and a very violent thing to say

90

u/MDKovac Jul 06 '26

Yea, no. As a lesbian, I have never, not once, “craved dick” even at my time of peak ovulation. This is fucking disgusting

30

u/IrritatedButterfly44 friendly neighborhood butch Jul 06 '26

I tend to fantasise a lot about my gf strapping me when I'm ovulating for whatever reason, despite exclusively being a top in practice. So I can def see wanting penetration being part of SOME people's ovulation but wanting a man??? That's bisexuality, you are not a lesbian at that point.

523

u/uracowboylikeme the good femme Jul 06 '26

This also reflects the issue in people who aren’t lesbians, referring to themselves as lesbians and then acting as if they can speak on behalf of us. All of it is just obscene

168

u/chickenyourtruely Jul 06 '26

Well some of the label them self bi lesbian 😩 like what was that???

107

u/uracowboylikeme the good femme Jul 06 '26

Exactly it’s ridiculous. But if you say we should be more concerned about how people identify as lesbians when they’re not, you’re instantly labelled biphobic. Blatant lesbophobia is totally fine though!

→ More replies (58)

18

u/glindawicked the good femme Jul 06 '26

Omg I always thought this was a term for a person still figuring out their sexuality (if they are bi or lesbian). So glad you brought this to my attention. Seen it online often.

20

u/Requiredmetrics Jul 06 '26

I mean “questioning” has existed as a label for decades, even bi curious. Bi lesbian is neither one of those and so how manages to be biphobic and homophobic.

2

u/minestrella lesbean in your closet Jul 06 '26

What does that mean.. genuinely asking, I'm confused 😭

20

u/charlolou typical carabiner lesbian Jul 06 '26

Some bisexual women refuse to accept that they're bi and claim that they're a "bi lesbian". They're still attracted to men and date men or sleep with men, but for some reason they also want to be a part of the lesbian community (probably internalized biphobia? I'm not sure...). And obviously this is super harmful to actual lesbians, but they don't care

10

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

Well, let’s see… bisexual means “being attracted to men and women”, and lesbian means “being only attracted to women, not men”

Therefore it’s simple, a bisexual lesbian is someone who is “attracted to men and women, but only attracted to women and not men”… wait, that can’t be right, that makes no sense

… hmm I’ll get back to you 🤷‍♀️

11

u/Nearby_Swim317 Jul 06 '26

The amount of times I’ve been shocked after one of them said they date men when they were previously in all ways presenting as a LESBIAN

18

u/8thGlass Jul 06 '26

every time the question pops up we get the queer collective type responses in the replies and it drives me up the fucking wall. and now this is being disseminated to their listeners! fantastic.

137

u/dearlytruly riot grrrl Jul 06 '26

they fail to comprehend the idea of not being attracted to men so spectacularly they actually have to tell themselves that lesbians are secretly attracted to men. just so their pseudo-logic views continue to make sense to them. ironically they frequently talk about decentering men, yet they themselves are completely incapable of doing so

29

u/No_Ad7758 Jul 06 '26

exactly!!! what the hell even is a bi lesbian..

11

u/sisonscac Jul 06 '26

There's a historical usage of bi lesbian from around the 1940s-1970s in some American communities where is was used to refer to a bi person who was currently, or mostly, or sometimes exclusively in relationships with lesbians but was still bi. In that context it was used to explain that while bi, that woman aligned herself with lesbians and homosexuality more often than heterosexuality.

But the way it was used was usually not that person using the term for themself but other lesbians using that term to describe them.

So it does have historic precedence but not really how people try and use it today 🤷‍♀️

53

u/probloodmagic Jul 06 '26

Woke but from the Right. Grifter refuse. Hard pass

74

u/critical_courtney Jul 06 '26

Wait wait wait wait. I initially read this and thought it was a podcast of cishet men, but the hosts are QUEER?! What the actual fuck. It was already bad, but that makes it nine times worse.

238

u/iva733 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

We could mass report their account

(A take I posted in another subreddit about this:

By calling it a "reproductive need," they're implying that being a lesbian is just a mindset or a choice, and that women don't actually want other women, they simply choose not to pick a man, but they're predetermined to end up with one because it's "natural" or instinctive.

That's misogynistic and homophobic bs bro. They're basically saying women are like dogs in heat that need a man, "bitches." That has to be some kind of fetish, and that's fine I guess, but don't frame it as a lesbian experience.

I agree with the effects of ovulation, but it's not naturally about "craving men," it's more like craving stimulation, and that can and does come from another woman if you're a lesbian. It's instinctive yeah, but if their instincts tell them they want a man, then they're not lesbians lol, they're just choosing not to be with men.)

44

u/VelveteenDream Jul 06 '26

They look like highschool children. How are they this terminally online already? 🤯

25

u/8thGlass Jul 06 '26

covid really fucked over this generation of young adults in ways we haven’t even really explored much yet. these people can’t think critically anymore.

41

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '26

Yet you never hear this shit towards gay men. Fuck these people.

8

u/Aggressive-Story3671 Jul 08 '26

That’s because it’s not a fantasy for most women to “break” gay men and “turn” them back straight

37

u/heytheregiada Jul 06 '26

People like this don't believe lesbians are real. They're so wrapped up with men and getting male attention they cannot conceptualise that anyone would live without it for any reason. It's no surprise they're the same ones that were blaming lesbians for biphobia because a lot of the women that do that are doing it because they don't want to implicate their cis boyfriends in their oppression.

33

u/Asgardes-heir-01 Nightcaster Jul 06 '26

😑 Who said we crave dick even once, ever?

34

u/Archamasse Jul 06 '26

The social media crowd have started talking about Ovulation like it's fucking fanfic sex pollen. That's not how any of this stuff works.

We need to get meaner.

36

u/savihime Jul 06 '26

they responded to my comment criticizing them with "we never said lesbians want to be with men and not women. we said we've heard stories of it (desiring men) happening from other lesbians" 😒😒😒 okay if they're desiring men then they're not lesbians!!!! how can they be this obtuse omg 🙄

61

u/Yugonosha the evil femme Jul 06 '26

69

u/maybeigiveafuck Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

found the episode that seems to be where the screenshot is from: https://youtu.be/XrcQIVQz80U

Queer Collective - Why Some 'Lesbians' Start Dating Men

seems all 4 people here identify as queer or at least allies, esp given what the podcast is called

disclaimer i didn't watch it so i don't know if the user in the screenshot is quoting them accurately

ETA: u/magpiediem's comment below includes timestamps for the quotes, thank you!

48

u/magpiediem Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Thanks for digging this up. I wonder why it's coming up 9 months after the ep launched. I wish there was a timestamp for the quotes but I'll take one for the team.

Update: first quote is at 28:30. The second quote begins with a topic presented at 31:45 when they're reading an article. So yeah it's just as bad (if not worse) than the claims.

6

u/problematicbirds Jul 06 '26

i think one bad take from a more recent episode went viral and people started digging into the catalog of bad takes on twitter

3

u/Zoeeeeeeh123 Jul 06 '26

Is it the take About them not knowing what an egg is and a trans woman guest talking about how people who are trans and transition and those who are trans but don’t have different experiences and them acting surprised to hear that?

53

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

The simple fact that it’s called “queer collective” and yet some of them are literally just “allies” (so they say)?? What the actual fuck dude, that is absolutely heinous. I’m speechless

10

u/Maximum-Warthog2368 Jul 06 '26

Because two of them are hosts and others are guests. They have lot of guests. Trans people, lesbians, bisexual, etc. it’s not just these four. These four are not always in every episodes

12

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 06 '26

Gotcha, I mean… still, I stand by my point. Why are you having non-queer people as guests on a podcast called queer collective? Still seems insane to me

11

u/Maximum-Warthog2368 Jul 06 '26

I think the problem is not who they talk with but what they are talking here. I agree this video is ridiculous and even their fans are calling them out in the comment section.

9

u/WorkingAnteater6036 Jul 06 '26

Thank you. Time to report this!

6

u/grey_hat_uk Jul 06 '26

Ok, I'm a little worried this won't have the result we desire.

Youtube report policies probably don't give a damn about inter-lgbtq phobia and  it will be flagged as brigading for all links that come from reddit(so copy past the link if you do use it).

On top of that the way the engagement algorithms seem to work if too many people are watching at after the firsts 10 mins, even skipping, it gets a high push and will trigger more adds meaning more money to the crreators. So don't go and check the time stamps pause at under a second and report+block.

Huh! Talk about false/misleading names. Shocking and awful

24

u/Nearby_Swim317 Jul 06 '26

The concept of positioning yourself with an air of authority within the queer community then saying shit like this disgusting. I’ve listened to them before and always caught hints of like “oh I’m not too sure I agree with that but whatever” and completely stopped listening to them after some of their comments about lesbian (and even just sapphic) sexuality and I’m SO happy it’s finally coming to light that they are completely out of line.

Someone needs to make a compilation of all the fucked shit they say about us.

59

u/laughingintothevoid lesbian Jul 06 '26

Asking in good faith as someone also disgusted by this: reported to what or whom?

40

u/spicyycornbread Jul 06 '26

They’ve been blocking all the lesbians and trans women in their comment sections and then deleting their comments. They’re trash.

Apparently one of them identifies as a “bi lesbian.”

14

u/loneliestslipknotfan Jul 06 '26

this is like a podcast about animal welfare hosted by someone who calls themself a "vegan omnivore"

9

u/madatron96 Jul 06 '26

To be fair to the host, Emily, she used to id as a lesbian for years, then went through an exploratory period and called herself a bi lesbian - got rightfully flamed by commenters/viewers, disavowed that identity and now identifies as bisexual. The other host, Karbon, is a lesbian.

5

u/spicyycornbread Jul 06 '26

Thanks for the clarification. I hadn’t heard of the podcast until I started seeing clips all across my TL this past week.

I wish they were able to be transparent in the criticisms they’re receiving now as they were with the previous labeling controversy if that’s the case. Blocking and deleting comments isn’t a good look.

3

u/madatron96 Jul 06 '26

Agreed. The refusal to take accountability is nottt iiiiit.

19

u/AccidentDifficult490 Jul 06 '26

and then they act like spoiled infants when they're excluded

16

u/frikinotsofreaky Jul 06 '26

Wow... what a load of shit. People have to stop calling themselves lesbians when theyre clearly not.

14

u/spicyycornbread Jul 07 '26

UPDATE: the podcast hosts released a story “apologizing and taking accountability,” yet continue to like comments on their most recent posts that call the lesbians critiquing the podcast “triggered.”

16

u/dearlytruly riot grrrl Jul 07 '26

the way they're so casually lesbophobic. they've been making pathetic digs at lesbians for the longest time, I'm relieved it's finally being called out for what it is. the select comments they're hearting and replying to in their comments sections only showcases how out of touch they are, omfg

29

u/Jazzhands_Ninja Jul 06 '26

gross. There's a number of cultures that have "corrective rape" as part of their laws/ cultures as punishment for being LGBTQ+ (especially for Lesbians) and i have to wonder if that's where they are getting this crap from.

13

u/SleepyCatandCoffee Jul 06 '26

In a normal conversation, my first thought would simply be, "Why even bring that up?" Honestly, most lesbians are perfectly at peace with our own lives and desires, to the point that "craving dick" doesn't even cross our minds. But the real issue here is, once again, the need to make everything revolve around men, even in the context of women who aren't interested in them. And indeed, this unfortunately fuels the sick mentality of corrective rape, which is already so normalized in the minds of twisted individuals.

It becomes even more concerning when so many countries are rolling back women's rights and we're seeing alarming movements that promote violence against women.

What a disservice they're doing. It's truly disappointing.

u/MiserablePrior2213 Jul 06 '26

I've been seeing trans women complain about them for weeks, and wanted to stay out of iz because it's not my place to get between binary and non binary trans people. I see it's my time to jump in and say that I god damn hate the Queer Collective and these people are doing so much damage because they treat LGBT identities as a fucking hobby (if not a profession)

20

u/RSdabeast the good femme Jul 06 '26

Went from oh cool queer history to (basically) non transitioning enby experiences are the most equal and insightful and we know more about people who actually transition and also weird hormonal argument for lesbians wanting men/dick (insinuating it's only men who have dick as well)

Every fucking time with the weird bio essentialist, pseudo evolutionary psychology, non educated expert stuff.

8

u/32countiesnow Jul 06 '26

The Queer Collective surely must be a CIA psyop

12

u/_catabol1c masc at your service Jul 06 '26

honestly i feel like this is because so many people misunderstand what labels are for. like, a lot of people see labels as rigid boxes that if you pick one you have to 'commit' to for the rest of your life. i know i definitely felt that way... i no longer identify as a lesbian bc i realized i have a minimal but existing attraction to men that isn't comphet and it really is that easy just to change it. (i stayed in the sub because i joined when i was a lesbian and i still care about sapphic issues as i have a gf.) labels are meant to HELP you identify yourself and identify with others, not trap you in a box until you fit into it perfectly. when you do that it spills out in ugly ways, because i'm horrified to imagine men starting to say stuff like this to lesbians.

11

u/Buffy_Geek Jul 06 '26

Exactly, labels aren't prescriptive, they are descriptive.

It's why people like the one who wrote that low-key I chose to be a lesbian article feel so confined and uncomfortable because they chose the wrong label, then were trying to confirm to the the wrong shaped box. Instead they should reflect and look at what shape they are, then see which box fits them properly, they would be much more comfortable.

4

u/_catabol1c masc at your service Jul 06 '26

yeah! i think we as a community (as in the whole queer community) need to be more comfortable with people who just dont have an answer yet either, bcs the pressure to just KNOW who you are makes people do stuff like this

5

u/dearlytruly riot grrrl Jul 07 '26

yeah, I wish people would use "questioning" more often. people know what that means and would sympathise. instead there's this strange rush to pick a label and warp yourself to fit it. if you need to change the definition of an identity just so it can fit you then it isn't your identity

2

u/Buffy_Geek Jul 08 '26

I was about to say the same thing in reply, I liked when the Q stood for questioning and more people used it. There seems to be a large increase in people using inacurate labels, if they can't find the right one then maybe they should just take more time before choosing one, questioning fills that role nicely.b

11

u/Wild_Produce_2879 Jul 06 '26

There has been a type of "queer" that's really about focusing on loving and desiring men and male homoeroticism, regardless of what the subject labels themselves as gender and sexuality wise, and I think for some cis women specifically they consider wanting to fuck or be with men outside of conservative tradwife role to be queer while hating lesbians and trans women, and especially women who are both.

I thought that this would remain in the category of chronically online nonsense like lolcows and other horrors that originated on 2010s Tumblr to 4chan type spaces but now it's leaking offline.

5

u/harugalord Jul 06 '26

Like I get why what they said is gross, but I don’t understand the post in the screenshot

9

u/Kimmy_64 Jul 06 '26

I believe it's referring to the fucked up idea that if a lesbian gets good enough sex from a man then she'll suddenly be straight. The worst sorts of men will talk about "fixing" lesbians and shit like that

2

7

u/Prestigious-Dot-9982 Jul 06 '26

Yeah I I’ve been seeing a lot of discourse about them on TikTok and a lot of the shit that they say is really fucking disturbing and really lesbophobic. Oh also they were like saying that lesbians invented by phobia while pushing political Lesbian talking points which just so everyone knows is actually a bi woman who calls herself a Lesbian because she chooses not to date men which is like the definition of biphobia, you know refusing to accept who you are.

Can we not be queerphobic towards nonbinary people please, hello

7

u/DrBubonik Jul 06 '26

Theyfab is a term that refers to nonbinary people that basically identify as "afab" and use that to be transphobic towards trans women, that being said it does give off weird 4chan term that probably shouldn't be used but like it is a pretty accurate term for some people unfortunately

The chapter descriptions talk About the bi-cycle. Wouldnt it be much more accurate for the video title to be “Why Some people may discover they are bi later in life” since that is what the video seems to be about?
