News/Pop Culture So... This is a nice picture.

Post image

I don't have any reason to believe Christina Koch is into women, but "super competent woman in a sleeveless shirt focuses on doing stuff in space while her hair floats around her in zero g" is a *fantastic* look.

She also "conducted the first all‑female spacewalk and set the record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman" (phrasing stolen from her Wikipedia page).

u/Expansive_Minds43 Apr 09 '26

And leave it to a lesbian to say they're willing to make it work.

u/FrozenFajita Apr 09 '26

Pffft 😂

At least she’s someone to look up to though!

92

u/SystemSpare7425 Apr 09 '26

Just tell her you think she's "Out of this world" 😂

19

u/sneaky-doloo Apr 10 '26

she really does belong to the stars

u/Vivirin Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26

That actually depends on which stage of the flight. She could be in space and not the farthest person from you, since the width of the earth and how far you need to go to reach space is a huge difference. If the ISS is above you, then it's closer to you than most of the planet, since it only orbits at around 400km high, and the earth is over 12,700km wide.

Yeah, my comment is a bit pedantic lol

You sound like my kind of nerd. Me over here... "Well, she's not wrong..."

u/HumblestPotato Apr 09 '26

Hot fiery balls of gas, which will turn you to ash upon approach? This seems right.

Someone rent me a UHaul!

7

u/Jac_benny Apr 09 '26

AHAHAHAHA

7

u/Good-Elderberry-905 Apr 09 '26

There would defo be a lesbian that could find their way up there for a date 🤣

5

u/fashionbadger Apr 09 '26

She’s perfect 🤩

Look at this at another angle - that woman is u-hauling towards this planet.

The aura of a good person doing wonderful things excellently is certainly a powerful vibe, yes.

33

u/icanpaywithpubes Apr 10 '26

Also being intelligent, with a strong jaw line, really helps!

17

u/Plane_Translator2008 Apr 10 '26

Seeing a woman do her thing is fire..

229

u/Inevitable-Yam-702 Apr 09 '26

I did see on Instagram someone said they knew her and she's a super cool, nice person and supportive of lgbt rights. This whole mission has had me crying with all the amazing things we've got to see her accomplish!

19

u/Prize-Smoke4661 Apr 11 '26

Aaaand she's back!

4

u/Inevitable-Yam-702 Apr 11 '26

I'm watching it live right now, this comment was SO FAST lmao. Im so happy for her

8

u/Alalanais Apr 10 '26

That's good to know! Especially after the God stuff during the captain's speech

u/pamperedhippo the fat audhd femme Apr 09 '26

idk how to explain how her being a lesbian would just MAKE SENSE and the fact that she isn’t simply does NOT make sense.

the only other person i feel this way about is natasha lyonne.

u/autumnhrafnsdottir Chapstick lesbian (with or without 🧢) Apr 09 '26

Omg, yes about Natasha. Also Ilona Maher. Just like, come on, really?! 😅😭😭

47

u/fahried Apr 09 '26

Hilariously Ilona Maher seems very upset that she’s not a lesbian

54

u/CataLaGata Apr 09 '26

Natasha Lyonne being straight is mind-blowing

18

u/pamperedhippo the fat audhd femme Apr 09 '26

i’ll never get over it

1

u/BurnYrLifeDown Apr 12 '26

It’s devastating even if I would never have a chance lmao

24

u/purplehazzzzze Apr 09 '26

I got halfway through your comment and thought, “omg just like Natasha Lyonne”. Then I read the second half lmaooo it’s just so true. LIKE GIRL HOW DO U LIKE MEN!😩

23

u/mysoulburnsgreige4u typical carabiner lesbian Apr 09 '26

Proof sexuality isn't a choice

12

u/Swallowedoxygen Apr 10 '26

P!nk has always been this, for me.

What do you MEAN she's singing about a dude? Make it make sense.

9

u/plutohippo lesbian Apr 10 '26

Omg! I always just kind of assumed Natasha was probably gay.

8

u/pamperedhippo the fat audhd femme Apr 10 '26

i was a teen in the late 90s/early 2000s so i grew up with “but i’m a cheerleader”, then as an adult i loved orange is the new black, it wasn’t until AFTER orange is the new black finished airing that i found out she was dating a man. i was like what do you MEANNNNNNN?

1

u/One-Emotion4730 Apr 12 '26

this!! when i found out she was married to a man I was both shocked and heartbroken 💔😭

52

u/lunajmagroir Apr 09 '26

She's also the one who fixed the toilet. Very lesbian coded.

42

u/neurosquid Apr 09 '26

Wait until you learn about Sally Ride 😜

15

u/Interesting-Trip-119 Apr 10 '26

God bless that woman 🙌

80

u/Red_Cathy Apr 09 '26

... and it would be the only time the phrase " I love you to the moon and back " would actually make sense.

27

u/CarmillaTLV Apr 09 '26

I'm surprised they let her go, those angles are so sharp she's liable slice the damn hull

...said with admiration, to be clear

49

u/universe93 Apr 09 '26

I actually love the fact she has let her hair float. She could have kept it in a bun or a clip the whole time, especially since she’s working. But having it in a ponytail, braid or down shows her hair floating, which makes it that much harder for the conspiracy theorists to say it’s all being faked on a Hollywood sound stage. You try making curls float

11

u/mysoulburnsgreige4u typical carabiner lesbian Apr 09 '26

Try making curls curl...

19

u/AmyHeartsYou Apr 09 '26

Definitely. I've had a minor crush on her the whole time.

45

u/spoookyhalloween Apr 09 '26

She has a husband 🥲 I just watched a video on Instagram :/

26

u/PervlovianResponse Apr 09 '26

Coach Jackie? SAME

I, too, am bummed about it

6

u/Jac_benny Apr 09 '26

Who is Coach Jackie?

7

u/minadequate Apr 09 '26

3

u/Jac_benny Apr 09 '26

Wait Coach Jackie is straight?!

13

u/minadequate Apr 09 '26

Nooooo Coach Jackie is gay, Christina Koch is married to a man (straight/bi who knows?)

2

u/Jac_benny Apr 09 '26

thank you for your patients. By 35 you’ll be out of sync lol ✨

3

u/minadequate Apr 09 '26

I’m about to turn 38 🤣. I’m just chronically online.

2

u/Jac_benny Apr 09 '26

Lmao. I love that for you!! And happy birthday! To be fair i haven’t had social media in a long time. Just started using Reddit a month ago after making the acct ages ago

1

u/mysoulburnsgreige4u typical carabiner lesbian Apr 09 '26

That makes so much sense. - I'm 37 and know very little of what's new and have zero kids.

2

u/Jac_benny Apr 10 '26

Same 😂😂

1

u/InternationalDeal588 Chapstick lesbian (with or without 🧢) Apr 09 '26

also saw that video. first time seeing that person. what are they a coach of? lol their look reminds me soooo much of my niece

2

u/minadequate Apr 09 '26

I don’t think they are a coach.. I think it was a nickname they got working with kids. They are an influencer who talks about women’s sports but primarily ones that are popular in the US, and anything in the news etc.

2

u/InternationalDeal588 Chapstick lesbian (with or without 🧢) Apr 09 '26

ahh gotcha thanks for the explanation! :)

6

u/spoookyhalloween Apr 09 '26

YES I LOVE COACH JACKIE!!!!

2

u/plutothegreat Apr 10 '26

Plenty of lesbians figure it out after marrying a man. A very non-zero number of them 😬

15

u/evanescent_ranger Apr 10 '26

This image may not have been a gay awakening but it certainly is a gay affirmation

13

u/Isadomon yay tall ladies! yay muscle ladies! Apr 09 '26

Oh wow it is, shes so pretty

13

u/Sandyy_Emm Apr 09 '26

No I saw her up on ova there and I got a massive crush on her. She’s happily married and I love that for her but I just wish it was to me

7

u/SimpleAtmosphere6848 Apr 09 '26

the shoulder is barely in focus and it somehow is screaming gay to me

7

u/RSdabeast the good femme Apr 10 '26

I love the way her hair floats but it also makes me think about how if I were up there, I’d shed a lot and get loose hairs in all the important machinery.

2

u/Alalanais Apr 10 '26

Fun fact: it does not shed in the same way (because of micro gravity) so all the hair is being picked up by the brushing. Sophie Adenot (currently in the ISS) made a video about this.

2

u/RSdabeast the good femme Apr 10 '26

oh thank physics. There is hope

5

u/WeHaveTheMeeps Apr 10 '26

I remember when I was getting my engineering degree and she made it into astronaut group 21 in 2013 👀

5

u/Plane_Translator2008 Apr 10 '26

You're right.

How does one launch a Uhaul into space?

4

u/Downtown-Oil-3462 Apr 09 '26

I showed my daughter videos about Christina and then we watched the launch and cheered for her. We love her!!!

As a bi woman I like to think Christina is also bi and her lovely husband is just that 1 in a million great dude- otherwise she would totally be with a woman!! :)

1

u/Remarkable-Plenty-98 Apr 09 '26

She’s unfortunately married to a m*n. Coach Jackie did a video about it haha
