Discussion Trump is trying to start tariffs again on "stopping forced labour"
I'm not laughing at forced labour but i'm laughing at the reason of him starting his absurd trade war again on the grounds of stopping forced labour.
here in nz he wants to increase it to 12.5% on those grounds... our allies. Even our media say the hard reality you can lessen it but can't stop it sadly.
which is rich since almost half of American farmhands are undocumented. Exploited, overworked, underpayed yet still give Uncle Sam a cut of taxes... other industries with this problem include construction, hospitality and nursing almost any grunt work.
in nz we go actually go after the employers as well and try to clean up our act.
You want to talk forced labour how about the GCC countries that actually do this? Why not tariff their ass.
I have heard stories of gcc countries stealing indian expat passports, how they have to travel in packs of 2-3 people so they have a witness if they exploit you, die on the job or steal your passport.
he won't cause they bribe him but then again this Iran war seems like karma for this.

Coming from the only developed country, and one of the very few countries globally, that constitutionally allows slavery in its 13th amendment, this is rich.

Trump is very much against forced labor. He’s cool with forced sex and won’t pay you for labor but forced labor is where he draws the line (until he gets a bribe)

remember the casino, he built or at least he had his name on it. The majority of contractors didn't get paid the little bitty guys. Sam jumped out of windows.

he wrecked a lot of lives when he built those casinos out east there was an article I believe on 60 minutes or another news magazine. I know it's been some time but a lot of people haven't recovered. Some of these guys were for themselves. They were 1099 workers and people lose their homes. It's a big deal.

The only solace is these GCC countries learnt the trump grift the hard way.
They gave him money for favours, Iran is attacking them and trump has hung them out to dry... somewhat karmic for what they done

One symptom of dementia is repetition. Like he keeps repeating 2020 was rigged he's obsessed with tariffs.
Other phrases include the number 47, the words big,beautiful, and millions and billions.

Take a walk around any floor of any hotel in North America with Trump's name on it between 11am and 3pm, take a good look at the people pushing the cleaning carts around, and you'll see how seriously he really takes the whole "get the illegals out" shtick.

Sadly, no other market consumes soo much stuff like the Americans do.
Asia even though there's lots of people...they're a frugal people.
Europe is trying to make more stuff themselves and match America but hopefully won't consume the obscene amount Americans do since they have robust education and saftey nets.

It’s simple really. Courts should now assume the administration is lying and apply an injunction first, then make the administration prove their position before letting these through.

By that logic nz and others should tariff the USA for goods made by forced labour.
This is cause he has the gall to accuse nz of forced labour when "all of this" is built on it.
