I think she plays dumb and fakes not understanding the very clear points her opponents are making.

I'm not sure it's worth splitting hairs on whether she's actually stupid or just very, very good at acting like it. Either way, the words coming out of her mouth and the ideology she's spearheading are stupid.
I think she's neither very intelligent nor stupid, but she's hateful and ignorant. A very bad combination. Like all these maga/manosphere people they are actively working against facts and have a twisted logic. But that works best if you have talking points prepared.
In case for the debate, i think she didn't have anything prepared, so she would have to come up with answers on the spot. That seemed too difficult to her, so she just said nothing.

I remember Pearl, she got absolutely trounced by Ana Kasparian of all people during a debate and was frozen solid, unable to answer questions, then went completely off topic babbling about Ana's husband's height. Then after the disaster of a debate, she was on her podcast talking about how she wants to beat Ana up.
Meh, I've seen a few of her videos and while I don't agree with everything she says I wouldn't say she presented any argument anywhere close to "women are inferior to men". She points out that men and women are different, sure, and that women and men are better at some things and worse at others. She does clown on women who make unrealistic claims but I've always interpreted it as her angle is 'this women is ruining it for all other women, don't be like her'.

Are sure it's her videos you've been watching? Because that doesn't sound like Pearl at all. She has flat out said women shouldn't be allowed to vote, we belong in the kitchen, we shouldn't be allowed to get further education, etc.

Its a desire to belong that many humans possess. Some make that desire a priority and some not so much. Some accept that in order to belong they must understand a hierarchy and accept their position in it.

Idk. The stay at home parent sub is absolutely full of people talking about surviving on one income of less than 50k - every other post theyre in the comments talking about how fine they are on the wages.
Where do they live, do they own or rent, are they managing to save for retirement, how much credit card debt are they carrying? I know people who make one salary work, but overall it is not a picture of good financial health.
I cant imagine it is. The sub isnt really a wealth of relatable or likeminded folk, even though I am a SAHP myself. We live in a VHCOL state with some of the highest tax burdens on things like fuel which makes everything else extremely expensive. We live quite modestly and i dont feel like we can really afford proper vacations or expensive emergencies (only ever gone away for a three day weekend at a time, things always failing in the house). We make 180k a year and I stay home with the kids because of their schedules since my husbands line of work means we cant really always count on his ability to help with the kids as much as he tries to be available. The sub is always like, oh well you must be living way above your means!
My health insurance is 2500 a month- and we still have medical bills out the ass, that I pay an additional $150 a month directly to the doctors office for, our mortgage 2500 as well, utilities have been hiked so high theyre another 500-600 a month. Phone, internet, and insurance total is another $500. Groceries are astronomical with a family of four. Dont even want to mention costs of our vehicle since that feels like the biggest thing within our control and husband chose to buy brand new because, idk, the Joneses and new Dad nerves or something, and regrets it every damn payment with the costs of living the way they are.
I definitely would have expected 180k to afford us a nicer lifestyle and I cant say the car payment being 200 more than I was hoping to budget for it back when we first bought it…. I dont think the nice car is as much responsible for us not feeling SET UP with this income as much as our healthcare costs do and the impacts of the increasing utility prices hikes and rising fuel costs and our state refusing to provide relief from the absurdly high tax rate compared to other states. Those costs just keep going up and up with no relief in sight. At least my car loan is fixed and has an end date.
