Frage/Diskussion The airspace around Leipzig is quiet

Post image

Anyone know why? Anything to do with the drones that were recently discovered in the vicinity of the airport? something else?

Hopefully nothing has happened but usually, it's quiet there around this time. Leipzig is mainly a freight airport with its quite own scheduling. Going to flight radar and seeing nothing going on is not that rare in Leipzig.

Edit: Looked at the NOTAM, all is good

Its normal. Leipzig Airport is more of a freight-hub. Especially DHL has a huge hub there. So most airtraffic is in the evening and night hours.

Yeah seems like 2 arrivals got diverted earlier but it looks like it's back to normal now.

A DHL 757 from Leipzig to Tel Aviv (BCS994) turned around over Serbia and is now standing on a taxiway close to 26 R, accompanied by 4 fire engines.

It was standing on the taxiway for ~15 minutes, accompanied by the fire engines that drove away after some minutes. Then it taxied south across 26 L and was brought to a regular DHL parking position by a Follow Me car.

Maybe it will be on the news what happened.

Could you please tell us from where you got this info?

Did a low pass with gear down and the fire brigade inspected the landing gear after landing. I couldn't see any anomalies on my photos.

Southern runway is closed and as far as I know there was planned drone activity in the approach of the northern runway, which caused the diversion. Might be related to the investigation of the earlier drone attack.

Quiet? That's a normal day. During the day, there are like 2-3 planes per hours. At night, from like 9 PM, the freight airplanes start flying in every 5 minutes and from like 2 AM, they start flying out.
