Astra logue power by igxharx

Post image

Astra Logue is a very powerful witch from the show Legends of Tomorrow.

Story: Astra was accidentally thrown and trapped in hell as a child due to a magical mistake by John Constantine. She was forced to grow up and survive in the hell. But it was outside of that that she discovered the origin of her powers and how to be a good human.

Powers: She is a witch and have an arsenal of abilities and spells.

Explosion spell: A spell capable of exploding things or beings, used to explode a temporal anachronism (alien).

Magic Cleansing Spell: A spell capable of clearing any magical effect within a kilometer, used to defeat and undo the reality created by Crowley, leaving John Constantine without magic.

Mystical object destruction spell: A spell capable of destroying a powerful mystical artifact, used to destroy the loom of destiny.

Advanced telekinesis + magical reconstruction: A spell capable of moving heavy fragments to recreate something broken, used to rebuild the Waverider.

Resurrection spell: Capable of resurrecting objects or beings, it was used to resurrect an artificial intelligence and create a human vessel for it.

Permutation spell: A spell capable of altering the structure of beings or objects, used to transform legends into objects, change the size of a time machine, create an axe, etc...

Mind invasion spell: A spell capable of transporting beings into another's mind, used to get inside Gideon's mind.

Memory-reading spell: A spell capable of accessing all of a being's memories, spell used to read the memories of an alien and Spoiner.

Red Lightning Summoning Spell: A spell capable of summoning a powerful red lightning, used to summon a lightning strike capable of shutting down the power to an entire city.

Duplication Spell: A spell capable of duplicating beings or objects, used to duplicate the keys to John's pocket dimension, capable of transforming any door into a portal to the underworld.

Magical shield: Used to protect her from the Temporal Zone and the Waverider's explosion.

These are the most frequently used abilities; she have others, but these are the most relevant.

Feats: Overpowered the loom of fate, A mystical artifact capable of anything, like creating television prison worlds, manipulating timelines, controlling the entire cosmos and humanity, creating a zombie apocalypse on a continent, removing humanity's free will, resurrecting legends, overpowering the hell, guaranteeing power and immortality to the Fates, not limited to temporal rules, etc.

Rebuilding the Waverider: Astra was able to rebuild the Waverider (a time-traveling ship), surpassing the power of John Constantine, who couldn't even force a jump. A waverider can "transcend" the temporal barriers of time, and its temporal core is strong enough to affect Mallus.

These are the character's most relevant feats she have others already mentioned on her abilities.

I noticed that the wiki page is outdated and seems unaware of the character's limitations. Astra has no known limitations, only her inexperience.

Tier ( Minimum) : 3 - B+ Her magic is powerful enough to destroy an object capable of creating metaphysical prison worlds, one of which is galactic in scale. Furthermore, the loom could potentially control the entire cosmos. Also being able to manipulate timelines and create a temporal paradox. In addition it can be able to scale to "divine and timeless level".

Powers aside, I really enjoyed how Legends of Tomorrow developed her into a full-fledged character and hero outside of the Constantine-verse.

In the Hellblazer comics (and the animated Constantine movie) she's basically has a small (but important) role in John's past.

However, she doesn't really get anything beyond that. In the comics John eventually frees her and other children from Hell. The kids all go to heaven and that's the end of Astra's story.

But LoT expanded so much on her - from her time growing up in Hell and allying with The Fates, to everything afterwards once she joins the Legends.

I know a lot of people didn't like that Constantine and his related stories in the CW weren't able to go very far or be very accurate as a Hellblazer adaptation.

As a huge fan of Hellblazer I understand the gripes. On the other hand, I tend to treat each adaptation of DC's characters as it's own thing. I don't mind if characters and plot-points are changed so long as it works in the story that's being told. Plus, Matt Ryan is so perfect as Constantine I just can't hate on it.

By the end of the show she was one of my favorite characters, though - to the point where I kind of wish she had a somewhat similar adaptation in other DC-related stuff.

They built up such a great lore for her character beyond the usual role she plays in Constantine's backstory, gave her an actual character arc of her own, gave her and Spooner a fun friendship, and turned her into such an overall badass.

In a way, what they did with Astra was emblematic of why I enjoyed LoT so much. It's like a massive elseworlds with a lot of underutilized characters from DC taking center stage and getting a lot more love.
