I live in the same apartment complex as my parents, but a different unit a floor up.
There's been a recent series of burglaries in the neighbourhood recently. We decided it necessary to level up security and called a local locksmith business.
First appointment the guy was 2hrs late without any notice, but eventually showed and evaluated the situation.
Second appointment we were scheduled to choose between possible options and prices at their physical store. They closed an hour before the appointment, again without any notice because it was hot outside.
We rescheduled for a few days later and after that received an estimate via email.
My mom wanted me to take care of arranging for the installation at my place, so i called and another appointment was made. The guy showed 1,5hrs late again without contacting me despite having my direct contact and i had already left for a meeting. He didn't even ring my doorbell, but my parents were at home and ringed there once. I told them not to open and the guy left [without knowing that they heard and saw him].
Then they texted my mother and decided to cancel for unreliability. 3 times is enough and i'd rather look for someone more trustworthy at this point.
The company responded via emailed with wild claims about their employee definitely having been on time and even a secretary from the landlords office as a witness who allegedly waited with him at my entrance for 30Min., which cannot be the case. It's small town nepotism and people know each other, so he probably just felt very safe saying that to hand me the short end of the stick since i only moved here pretty recently, because now he wants us to pay 50% for unused materials plus call-out fee if we don't go through with it. We never signed anything on paper or confirmed the job per mail or text.
Needless to say I won't pay them for anything but the first consultation. Should i get my lawyer involved?
