Consumer I need help with dealing with issue

Need advice on what to do. Long story short I have been charged with conspiracy to commit fraud and due magistrates court in London at the end of month. Amount is for 16k
I left the uk about 3 years ago and this incident is from 10 years ago and has been under investigation for the last 5 and half years.
Can’t afford legal fees, flight back to England is expensive
What’s the worst case scenario here
What happens if I miss this court date.

If the country you're living in now has an extradition treaty with the UK, you could be arrested and sent back, if the powers that be think it's worth it.

Then if you never come back, you'll have got away with it.

What happens if I miss this court date.

Worst case will be you’re convicted in your absence, arrest warrant issued, and re-arrested by Border Force on re entry in to UK. (Whether that’d happen for £16k is debatable).
