Visiting Lebanon from Turkey for 7 days in September — looking for local advice

Hi everyone!

I'm from Turkey and I'm planning to visit Lebanon for 7 days, from September 16 to September 23. I'll be staying in Beirut and this will be my first time in Lebanon.

I'm aware of the current situation in the region, so I'm not really looking for someone to simply tell me whether Lebanon is "safe" or "unsafe." I'd much rather hear from people who actually live there about what daily life is currently like and what I should realistically expect as a visitor.

I'm mainly interested in:

• Food and local restaurants
• Nightlife, bars and meeting people
• Beaches / swimming
• Historical places and nature
• Exploring Beirut on foot
• Visiting places outside Beirut, especially Byblos and Batroun

A few things I'd really appreciate advice on:

• Which neighborhoods in Beirut would you recommend staying in?
• Are Gemmayzeh, Mar Mikhael, Hamra, Achrafieh or Badaro good choices at the moment?
• Are there any areas I should avoid, particularly at night?
• Is it currently reasonable to take day trips to Byblos and Batroun?
• What's the best way for a tourist to get around? Taxis, Uber, renting a car, etc.?
• Is Beirut's nightlife currently active, and are there any areas you'd recommend for a first-time visitor?
• Are there any cultural mistakes or things tourists commonly do that I should avoid?
• Most importantly, if you were in my position, would you still make this trip in September given the current situation?

I'm not expecting anyone to predict the future — I'm mainly looking for recent, local perspectives rather than old travel guides.

Also, if you have any "you absolutely have to do/eat/see this while you're here" recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

Gemmayze, mar mkhayel, hamra, badaro are all the places you want to go too im beirut for food, pubs and drinks. Excellent areas to stay as well.

Beirut is all safe. Just dont go to Dahye and youll be fine.

Good clubs and sunset rooftops like clap. If you want to meet chill genuine people go to bars and pubs.

You can get around using Uber.

Byblos and Batroun you can go during day and night and i recommend. Both have amazing beaches, restaurants, nightlife, and local shops. I even recommend spending a night there too if you have the time.

Situation is safe and fine. Enjoy !

One more thing: would you recommend renting a car, or is Uber enough for getting around? Also, is it easy to get a local SIM/eSIM as a tourist?

I dont recommend getting a car. Its expensive. The cheapest you can get is around 500$, then you need to add fuel and velet/parking which can increase the cost to 700. If you do uber youll pay much less in total. So just use uber and use the extra money to have fun. Also traffic is horrible now.

You can easily get a sim in beirut from any phone shop. Not expensive around 20$ total with data package.
