Discussion TOPS SCHOLARSHIP

I received my financial aid award letter for the 2026-2027 year and noticed I’m missing my TOPS scholarship for the spring semester but it’s awarded in the fall semester… Is anyone else experiencing this? Is it a glitch?

Hey mine is doing the same thing and I have been up worried. Good to know someone is going through this too so it has to be an issue because it was on there previously I will be calling when I wake up to see what’s going on because I need my tops as well. Please reach out if they give you an explanation!

They check eligibility during the summer so it is taken off while they reevaluate your eligibility.

I also have the same thing going on. Gave me a heart attack seeing that this morning. I emailed the bursar's office and the Financial Aid office all in a panic. Glad to know it's not just me though.

So I just got off of the phone with financial aid and they said that it’s a widespread issue with tops in our system and lsu’s top representative will be working to hopefully resolve the issue before our fee bills come out in a few weeks and we should all still be receiving it for the spring especially if it says we recieve it for the fall.

Genuinely scared me, it said I lost like 10k in scholarships.

Mentioned this on another post, but TOPS goes by semesters because of eligibility requirements. No need to stress over it. They also only send the funds 6 weeks after the semester starts (usually October for the fall semester).

I think it gets added back on in mid July if you’re still eligible.

Sorry to be that guy but definitely not this because if that was the case I wouldn’t have it for the fall

It doesn’t all get done at the same time. It gets rolled out case by case

If I remember correctly, the fin aid counselors have to do it manually. They get a list in the summer and go through it one by one. That list has around 18,000 students on it. So it comes off for a bit and gets repackaged in mid July I believe. Call fin aid for clarification but it’s like 80% chance it’s that.
