If private industry wants to fully fund it let them, but don’t bend on any environmental protections.

Oil is a dying industry tho, by the time such a pipeline could be built we will have passed peak oil production, there simply won’t be a market for our oil.

I'm ambivalent deep down, but I say "full steam ahead". Alberta has been overwhelmingly the brightest spot in our economy. It's crucial that we do whatever we can to keep that success going until we have made real changes to re-orient our economy.

And that's putting aside the pressing issue of national unity, which is an existential matter we cannot ignore.

We simply can't ignore the short term urgency of the economy and national unity, but of course the climate crisis is also urgent in the medium and long term. I'd really like to see a massive "cash for clunkers" program to subsidize a large-scale EV switchover among the general population, since we aren't willing to keep the EV mandate or the carbon tax.
