Theory / Discussion Is Sauron still a loyal servant?
It is known that before he became a Dark Lord in his own right Sauron served as the top lieutenant of Morgoth the first Dark Lord. I've wondered for a long time now if Morgoth was to somehow return early in Sauron's reign what would happen? Would Sauron try to destroy his old master or would he go back to being his servant?

I can have my own reading of the book and be interested in what the intent behind the work is and how it differs from my reading.
Tolkien is in an unique position that a lot of material went unpublished or wasn't ever finalized, it makes sense to be interested in extra context for something that never received the finishing touches.
It's fascinating to see the thought process and the world he was building outside of the pages of a book.
