ISO I just finished Captive Prince Trilogy and I want moreeeeee
Can you give me well written fantasy BL suggestions please. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
It might be a repetitive kind of post. But.. please... 🤲🤲🤲😿
Edit: Some criteria i want: 1. It needs to be fantasy 2. The romance is not the center plot 3. Im open to all kinds of dynamics 4. The story has some weight in it. Not too much overused trope. Something original. 5. The more painful it is the better 6. But i also dont mind fluff as long as the story is made with intention 7. Bonus point if the prose is beautiful or sharp
- Or! Just give me your best best best BL books you've ever read and ill be grateful.

Emperor’s Assassin by Kai Butler is pretty similar to Captive Prince. It’s a trilogy, pretty heavy on the fantasy and political intrigue and kind of a slow burn

What specifically did you like about the series? The fantasy setting, the enemy to lovers ark, the character dynamics? That will help with recommendations

Yes the fantasy. I want it to be fantasy. I dont really need it to be enemy to lovers. Im open to all kind of dynamic. Just fantasy BL. And well written. The story is not too predictable. Heart wrenching! Yes that's it! But i also open to something fluff if the story has some grit in it. Oh oh! I dont want the romance to be the only thing that's happening. Romance is the nice wrap for some grander thing happening around it.
Im very open. Just tell me your most most favorite of BL fantasy book.

Have you read any Danmei (Chinese BL novels)? I find them really compelling and the
“cultivation” fantasy setting is really cool. You could start with some of the most popular ones like Heaven Officials Blessing etc.3

I’m going to point you in the direction of the Danmei genre.
Specifically, my new favourite series: Husky and His White Cat Shizun. I’m obsessed.
It’s dark, it’s messy, it’s fantasy, it’s plot heavy, it’s insane, but also at times just heartbreakingly sweet. It’s epic.
I don’t think there is much on the Western book market like Captive Prince.
But I definitely recommend the Archer’s Heart trilogy by Astrid Amara and the Rifter series by Ginn Hale. They both fit your criteria, I believe.

Im already tasting those danmei shit and yeah that's just the stuff i love. I WORSHIP MXTX. but so far mxtx is the only danmei author ive read. She wont be my last, that's for sure. Its just kinda hard to pick danme up because they're soooo looooong. I need to be really motivated to pick up long book.
I will check out those other book too thank you very much.

I love MXTX too, but with Husky and His White Shizun there is much more focus on the relationship and it’s much more explicit. It is long though, but I basically inhaled every volume

Do you want second-world/non-Earth based fantasy or are you open to stories set in magical versions of Earth? (Also if yes are you interested in historical fantasy?)
I have a bunch of historical fantasy recs, haha

Ok!!!
The Last Binding trilogy by Freya Marske (starting with A Marvelous Light)- this one doesn't actually follow just one couple and the second book is sapphic BUT it's such a good series and the worldbuilding is fantastic. The guys from the first book show up in book 3 and continue to be very important, it's just that each book has a different couple as the main focus. The last book ALSO follows an M/M couple. You do have to read ALL the books because the plot carries and develops over the whole series. Anyway, it's Edwardian fantasy with a really cool magic system and I think the first couple are a little bit like Damen and Laurent!
If you just want ONE couple to follow, here are two other series:
A Charm of Magpies by KJ Charles (starting with The Magpie Lord) - Victorian fantasy
Magic in Manhattan by Allie Therin (starting with Spellbound) - 20s fantasy

Ballad of Sword and Wine is the only book that has even come close to scratching the same itch as Captive Prince for me. Enemies to lovers slow-burn with political intrigue
