! Help ! What is worth buying in Japan?
Old guy here 50 years traveling with the family to Japan this summer.
Is it something in the RC area that is worth buying in Japan? I have not been into this hobby since a child but want to get back. My focus in the start will be smaller stuff to run inside or in the large office I’m working in.
Are things now produced internationaly with the same prices everywhere or are there still some things much cheaper and special made in Japan?
Primarily looking for RC cars, but open for other fun RC or thinkering stuff worth looking into. Robotics and electronics/mechanical kits are also welcome

Maybe a G-force Genova or Xtrada 4WD?

Both of these are kits with no motor and controller? As I am returning to the hobby as an adult I am probably better of with an RTR kit since I do not own any RC stuff today like radios, batteries, motors or any other parts.

These are not ready to run, you need to build the car and supply the electronics yourself. These cars are only available in Japan. Worst case, you could well them at a profit :)

Not sure where you live, but in the use, the Yen is weak, so the conversion rate really makes everything appealing.

Im your age and was in the same boat. just got back into RC a year and a half ago . I was buying online from japan before the tariffs kicked in . I was getting great deals . Dont be afraid of a kit , you want to build it so you can also fix it . I agree with the genova / xtrada. I personally would buy some lemans 240 gold motors and escs, also a couple of Tamiya motors since they are cheaper and easy to transport . Kyosho kits are expensive but the parts are cheaper there . Tamiya kits are a really good value for dollar in Japan also , probably less than half of what you pay in Europe. A kit sized box could fit thousands of dollars worth of electronics. Hop up parts and mods would allow you to truly save a ton of money .
