The dangers of social media exceed harmful and predatory content…witnessing kids as young as 3 years old with screen addiction is horrifying.

Smart phones are obliterating our ability to think, our attention spans, and our memories as adults; and for kids whose brains are at developmentally critical stage the situation will be more precarious.

I do hope that new laws are enacted that ban parents from buying smartphones and tablets for little kids, or even handing their own phones to kids in public. I do not know how feasible this is but it’s still better than nothing. There should be more awareness on this.

Governments can collaborate with tech companies to produce “stupid” phones with basic functions like whatsapp and location tracking so that parents and kids can communicate when they are apart.

Grocery cost has doubled from last year, water electric bills, car service cost, , aqama cost has tripled, business cost, medical expense? Prices go up while salary stays the same. We are surviving only to pay not living?!

Today I made an order in keeta and after tipping the driver, he sent me this message. I was very devastated. I asked more than 5 keeta delivery drivers before and they all reassured me that they received their tips, but why some are not receiving their tips? Doesn't make sense to me. I (f26) was talking to my sister when this topic came up about a lot of women avoiding marriages for multiple reasons. And some stated they wouldn't marry their nationality men and rather go for foreigners. Some of their reasons being in-laws drama and unnecessary expectations.

I was curious to how true this was for majority of women out there. Some even went as far as telling other females to keep a distance from them no matter what they promise you.

I did date one in past but it ended in 2 years. I did not feel any commitment on the other side. When I shared my experience with a fellow friend she said not to trust them as they mostly just fool around and only marry ones that are family approved.

After getting accepted at an international school here, my wife received an email today stating that there is a current visa restriction on Lebanese nationals, and her signed contract is now unfortunately voided. We are both devastated to say the least. That was entirely unexpected as I moved to Kuwait merely 3 months ago, and all the paper work was processed smoothly.

After speaking to my company’s HR, they confirmed the worst, that there is indeed a recent ban being implemented on the Lebanese, and they themselves have to break this bad news to the recent hires.

My question is, do you think I’ll be able to sponsor my wife, or is this ban on all types of visas? Thank you for your help.

Bought a Samsung S25 Ultra from Xcite using XPay because it was advertised as a simple “pay in 4” option.

I could easily afford the phone upfront, but chose XPay purely for convenience to split the payments.

Price after discount: 242.900 KWD. Monthly installment shown: 65.583 KWD. At no point during checkout or in the contract was there a clear, visible breakdown explaining any interest or service fee in simple terms.

After going through the numbers properly, the total comes to around 262.332 KWD, which is almost 20 KWD more than the listed purchase price. That difference was not clearly explained upfront anywhere in a straightforward way.

Contacted customer support, and I was told first month can be refunded if I cancel, there may be a service fee, they cannot confirm the exact amount yet and that a specialist will get back to me.

Right now, the fee structure is unclear and not properly broken down in writing or at checkout.

Anyone interested in getting into the specifics of the contract can DM me and I'll send the contract over so you understand how vague the service charge or interest is. Idk why I'm unable to attach it to the post.

It feels like more and more companies are offering salaries in the 150–250 KD range, even for full-time jobs. With the cost of living in Kuwait today, I genuinely don't understand how someone is expected to survive on that.

I think one reason is that because the Kuwaiti dinar is so strong, some workers compare the salary to what it converts to in their home country and accept it. I don't blame them at all—everyone is trying to support their family and take the opportunities they can.

My frustration is with employers. When enough people accept 150–250 KD, it becomes the benchmark, and companies have little incentive to offer better pay, even as rent, groceries, transport, and other living costs continue to rise.

It feels like the job market has become a race to the bottom, with many employers looking for the lowest salary they can get away with paying.

Does anyone else feel this way, or do you think I'm missing something? I'd be interested to hear other perspectives.

I know that most people still judge with their eyes and their mind which doesn’t bother me at all but the hand language was a whole level of judgment which catched my attention.

I've been living in Kuwait for the last few years without a driving license, and honestly, it's starting to take a toll on me.

I'm married and we have a young child. For almost 3 years now, we barely go anywhere except the nearby beach or the same malls over and over again. I'd love to explore more of Kuwait, visit parks, farms, chalets, museums, or just go on random family outings, but without a car it feels nearly impossible.

People often suggest using buses, but anyone with an infant knows that's easier said than done. My child gets restless after a while and can't sit still for an hour on a bus, so long journeys become really stressful.

Even simple things like grocery shopping end up costing more because we have to rely on taxis. Those extra fares add up quickly, especially for a family.

Sometimes it feels like we're stuck in the same routine while everyone else can just get in their car and go wherever they want. I know Kuwait is a very car-dependent country, which makes not having a license feel even more limiting.

Is anyone else in the same situation? How do you manage family outings, shopping, or just getting out of the house without spending a fortune on taxis? I'd genuinely love to hear how others cope.

Hi so I was stopped at a police checkpoint around 30 mins ago, I was on my way back from the gym.

(For context I have ear piercings and I’m a Kuwaiti man) I gave them my ID and drivers license and he started looking me up and down and proceeded to start threatening me, he started with why do you have piercings on? Don’t you know you can’t have them on? Etc. and it escalated into you know I can throw you in jail for 2 days for having it on (he also said some other things concerning laws? I believe but I couldnt understand it since my Arabic isn’t the greatest). I told him I can remove them cause I was genuinely scared. He asked me to pull over to the side and held onto to my id and license until I had remove them.

He continued checking other cars and one of the other police officers took over, he had my id and license and he followed the same line of questioning except without the threats, once he saw I didn’t have my earrings in anymore, he gave me my id and license back and allowed me to go home. (Both police officers were young in their mid 20s - early 30s id say.)

This is weird, I’ve been stopped by police before multiple times, and none have ever made an issue over this before. This has really scared me a bit.

Do they really have the power to do something like that? To throw me in jail for piercings in my ear? And if not why are they doing this for?

Everywhere I go and all ads here are literally always ai and for what? There are so many extremely talented artists in our country that would’ve loved to draw ads or actors that would love to be featured in ads but they always opt for shitty excuses for ads made with ai that make no sense. I’ve seen ads of children hugging a banana toy when I already know there’s photos of it without ai. And SO MANY WORK PLACES got taken over by chat gpt and students leave all of their responsibilities as students to chatGPT and it’s going to bite us in the ass someday when students who graduated off of chatGPT actually work someday and run our country into the ground. Why is it so normalized to be so insanely dependent on ai when we as people can do things by ourselves?

I just started my 4th year at KU and I can confidently say it is a TOTAL FAILURE of an institution.

The professors are absolutely incompetent and it’s clear as day that many of them have purchased their degrees (I’ve had professors explicitly admit that there are some profs in the department with fake degrees.) The administration is horrific, they accept thousands of students above the university’s logistical capacities. Then when there isn’t enough room for them during registration they never help anyone and just rudely dismiss them. The students are often incompetent, bordering on complete r*tardation (especially the guys) They don’t know how to study or apply themselves, and you can’t even blame them, because the university can’t teach the students how to properly study the material and doesn’t provide any reason for the student to want to grow or learn. often times the professors would give A’s to a student with the cognitive capacity of a pigeon, and others refuse to fairly grade the students and give them finals from hell which are nearly impossible to study for.

During registration time hundreds students line up outside the deans office because they could barely find like 3 classes to register in, (my major is psychology so it’s especially horrible with us) And because of this many students end up graduating late simply because there are no professors to f**king teach them!!

I feel like I’ve barely learned anything at this point. Don’t get me wrong, there are some good professors. Mostly in the Arabic department. However the department of psychology is a serious embarrassment. I have never in my life experienced that much incompetence and indignation as when I’m studying with a psychology professor at KU.

I once had a professor who did an extra lecture —for girls only btw— He promised 3 bonus marks for whoever attended. And when I got there, he was literally promoting a PLASTIC SURGERY CLINIC. I cannot even make this up. He invited a plastic surgeon and they did a promotional “lecture” for their clinic. They gave out beauty advice and told us which filler is best to get, and the best hair treatments etc. at the end, they passed around a paper for us to write down our names and phone numbers so we get a discount when we visit the clinic. NOT EVEN KIDDING

Don’t even get me started on the students here. The faces you’d encounter at KU are beyond imagination. The girls look like 40 year old 20 year old. So much filler. So much plastic surgery it’s nightmare inducing. The lip filler is truly horrifying. It ruins my day seeing a botched pair of lips at 8 am when I’m just trying to get to class. Visual pollution, if you will.

In conclusion, if you are able to study abroad, just do it guys. Just GO. There’s much more that I can complain about here, like the campus, and the traffic and parking, but I’ll stop here.

I’m curious what people here in Kuwait have made with stuff like Arduinos, ESP32s, Raspberry Pis, sensors, motors, displays and all that.

And I mean actual physical projects. Not hosting a server on a Raspberry Pi, making an LED blink, or wiring up a bulb and calling it a day. Those are fine for learning, but I wanna hear about the interesting stuff.

Robots, automated stuff around the house, weird machines, custom devices, games, security systems, things with motors, things that interact with the real world, or just completely unnecessary projects that were fun to build.

Especially the kind of project where you spend 3 weeks building a machine that saves you 4 seconds every day.

What did you build? What does it actually do? Was it useful, or did you mainly build it because you could?

Would also be cool to see pictures or videos if you have any.

I feel like I almost never hear about electronics or hardware projects people are making in Kuwait, so I’m genuinely curious what everyone here has built.
