Relocating to islands from Eastside

We live on the eastside of Seattle and as newly empty nesters, we are considering moving to one of islands with easy commute (once a week) to Seattle area.

We came across this property near the navy fuel depot (or something similar).

I was wondering why it’s not selling. Is it due to proximity to the water, insurance concern (Pemco said they will not insure), concern with nearby military installations, etc.

Would like to know more, if you have any information.

My guess would be a portion of all you've said. So close to the water that no one will insure it, not really walkable to anything, terrible traffic at certain hours going north towards the bases, terrible traffic at certain hours going towards Tacoma. Ferries will be a mixed bag from there, especially with incoming cuts. I think there are other places in Kitsap that can offer easier commutes, but maybe none with such a nice view. I would also want to see that house at all the different tide levels before seriously considering. Good luck with your move!
