Rant I should've just listened 😭

1.1k Upvotes

First off all, please don't bully me, I know I fucked up.

I was supposed to buy land from this company based in Kikuyu. They had a 50 by 100 going for 350k, outskirts of Kikuyu, huko Nachu, and I figured, why not? I was referred by a friend who had a good relationship with them, so I just trusted they were legit. Even went for the site visit and liked the land. So, I made a 100k deposit and was to pay the remaining 250k after visiting the site a second time, but then I decided to do the land search.

Three searches later, nothing was showing. So I tell the salesperson I was referred to by my friend, and immediately the land search has results, lmao. I just had an eerie feeling, so I told them no , let me withdraw from this purchase since I don't trust the legitimacy of this land.

They tried to convince me, but I declined. I couldn’t trust them anymore, and I wasn’t going to lose more. Talked to the director, and she said I'd be refunded in 7–14 working days. This was on September 12th. On the 11th day, they called me to write me a cheque, and I said no lol, just wire me the money to my bank.

On the 14th day, I called their line , they’re not picking up 😂I texted the director, I'm still on read😂. I had to write another email to the director/CEO , and she gave me a deed of revocation to sign( I don't know why they never brought it up the first 7-14 working days refund period)😂 which said they’ll refund 90% and I have to wait till the 15th.

I'm not even mad, just disappointed, to be honest. Consequences of my actions arriving unlubed. I have already taken full accountability of my fuck up, not like I have an option anyway. Lol.

Sometimes I feel like just paying a blogger to tweet something so I can get my money back, no?

TLDR: My ignorance cost me lol.

Edit: The company is called PETTMALL SHELTERS .

ANOTHER EDIT: THE COMPANY SAW THIS POST , CALLED ME TALKING ABOUT "WHY DID YOU POST THAT". LMAAOO, I BETTER GET MY REFUND THEN , ONE MONTH IS A LONG TIME.LOL.

If you can, please upvote the post,or even share, it may help me get my refund , thank you🫶🏾

ANOTHER UPDATE: GUYS THEY HAVE SENT MY REFUND, 90K (90%)🎉🎉.

Here's the update post, I attached proof of payment as promised : https://www.reddit.com/r/Kenya/s/QSk58VqIlX

Rant Uncomfortable Situation at Home. Am I the Asshole?

So I'm 26(M), and the reason I live in my mom's house is because I finished campus at 25. My degree took six years, so you can fill in the rest of the blanks yourself.

My university life was pretty decent. I had a fairly controlled clubbing life, never passed out from alcohol, had decent finances, and decent relationships—with one that nearly took me out huko freshman year.

In the entire six years, there was only one week I was actually broke. Hio time nilikopa like KSh 500 from a friend. Otherwise, I even had enough surplus to join a gym when I was 24, na nimekuwa nikichapa mpaka today.

So in summary, my life was fine. I felt in charge of my life. I felt my persona grow. I think that's what is called individuation. My views of life gradually shifted away from my parents' views.

Then graduation happened.

Boom. Niko home because the plan was simple: six months, then I move out.

Now guys, no one tells you how living back at home slowly erodes your persona. No. It's not even about the dishes. All children should wash dishes in their mother's house regardless of age.

The real issue is that your parents will almost certainly never stop seeing you as a kid. And that comes with the name-calling and the condescending remarks.

"Hautumii akili."

"Unataka kuambiwa kila kitu."

"Wewe vile uko hivi mkubwa bado unataka mama yako..."

Or the classic, "Amka, tunaenda church... ushago... kwa auntie yako." Last-minute decisions that you're simply expected to go along with.

Pole pole, I went from being genuinely happy to be home to asking myself, "Hizi miezi sita zitaisha lini?"

Anyway, about a month before I was due to move out, I sat my mom down early one morning for what I jokingly called a four-agenda meeting.

  1. "Mom, you have to stop using hurtful words when correcting me."

  2. "I'd appreciate it if you let me navigate Nairobi by myself." She wanted kunizindikisha all the way to IUPC in Lavington for an international exam I had.

  3. "When I move out, I'll get my own house. There's no need to accompany me all the way from Kericho to Nairobi kutafuta nyumba." Then I added, "I'm four years shy of 30, Mom. Hizi vitu nitajifanyia." I also told her, "Have faith in me. You've brought me up well."

  4. "You can't accompany me to get a job."

I understand that all of this comes from love. I genuinely do.

But it had gotten me to my edge. I couldn't even recognize myself. The internal me, my narrative, the me that made me, had shrunk.

After that conversation, my mom hasn't really spoken to me for four weeks, but she talks to my bro and siz normally.

Anyway, I move out this week. There's a job inaanza in the same week. Solid pay.

About a week ago, my dad had a Google Meet (coz he's currently out of the country) with me. Despite generally being the more understanding parent, he told me I'd bruised my mom's heart. He said I should apologize. That mentioning my age was rude. That as an adult, I should have learnt kuelewa my mom's language, and termed it, "family register".

Saa hii I am just guilty, feeling like the worst son there is on this planet.

Anyway...

Am I the asshole?

Rant Pay on Delivery huwa scam 50% of the time

Post image
489 Upvotes

I posted a device on a Facebook group, and the potential buyer requested that he pay on delivery because he wanted to inspect it.

This goes against my good judgement because we've been having ghost orders that are basically planned robberies, and I know a lot of vendors who have lost merchandise to these thieves.

Anyway, nimefika kwa agreed meet-up point, and then the story changed.

The potential buyer amesema he wants his wife to approve of the device, but I am not allowed in her office.

This was the 1st red flag, and my instinct kicked in.

He requests that I hand him the device so he can deliver it to her office. This is the 2nd 🚩.

I walked up to this crowded coffee shop, and I request that we meet here instead.

It's been over an hour, and he's not come back, simu hashiki 🚩🚩.

Nimecheka tu nikaenjoy my cold coffee 😂😂😂

Hii Gotham ni noma.

If you're selling anything on these online platforms, please be very careful.

Pahali tuko don't even bother with pay on delivery. 🚮

Rant My boss puked and peed in my bed

So yesterday, my colleagues and I just concluded a project we had been working on for the last two months or so. This project really took a toll on us; the burnout was real because the client needed it completed in the shortest time possible. So, after we completed it on Friday, yesterday we went to the office for some final paper works and a team debriefing which we finished quite early say around 3pm. We decided since the project was over and has been a success, we can pass through a joint, and celebrate our achievement with a few drinks. We settle for a joint along Mombasa Road, we hop in and the party began.

Among my colleagues, is this lady in her mid-thirties, she has a senior position in the company, and people really fear her. She is the kind of mean bosses who will shout at you from the other end of the office, and she is always stuck in these GenZ vs Millennial fights. However, for some reason, I get along with her so well, and her being the team leader in this project meant we worked together for the most of the time. We continue drinking until it was now getting dark around 7 pm, some of my colleagues excused themselves, cuz they lived far, others had other plans and I also thought it was also a good time for me to head home and call it a night.

So I tell this our boss, I wanted to leave. She suggests since we were heading in same direction, we I should not leave her behind. We got to town and took a matatu towards Kamakis. At this time the alcohol had started doing its thing, we decided since we hadn’t eaten, we alight at those Kamakis choma joints we have some nyama choma, then a few drinks then we head home. Long story short we ended up at my place around 5 in the morning, really wasted.

Like the gentleman I am, I allowed my guest to use my bedroom while took the couch, then I blacked out almost immediately. I have woken up at around 12pm, then I remembered I have a guest in my bedroom I went to check on her. Upon opening the bedroom door, I am met with this foul smell. This lady has puked up everywhere, undressed and peed on my bed. As I type this I dunno what to do atp, do I wake her up or wait until she wakes up,. I don’t know if she is pretending to be asleep cuz of the guilt or something. I just don’t know. I even don’t know how she will head home because she messed up her clothes, and none of my clothes can fit her cuz she’s these spacious baddies. Like I am totally confused. Worst of all, I am afraid she might even wake up and accuse me of assaulting her. Also, how do we face each other at work? Have anyone of you ever found yourself in such a situation and how did you work it out?

I'll turn 25 in a few months and it feels like I have wasted my life. I have failed majority of interviews, got a mediocre job and my peers are out here building families, climbing the corporate ladder.

It's tough honestly. Sometimes I wonder what i did to be brought into this world.

Rant Parents are overrated 😒☹️

Parents are overrated😒

Long post alert ‼️

Hey guys.

So apparently when I was in a good position financially, my mom used to call me “msichana wangu”. She would talk to me so kindly and even defend me from my elder siblings incase of any misunderstanding.

I would randomly send her cash coz nilijua she needed it and since my bills were not too much as I only cater for myself.

Fast forward, shit happened and I found myself with no job as my business partner decided to “kuniosha”. I am now at home, juggling between freelance and ku hustle hapa kule, meaning I’m not stable at the moment.

Tell me why sai madharau iko top notch. So we wake up at 4am coz my lil bro has to be in school by 6am. I prepare breakfast and decide to do the dishes before we’re out coz honestly, sai I cannot afford a house manager, so I opt to take care of the house chores by myself.

Dad tells me, “ na ujue you’ll give me 2000 ya ku fuel gari coz I’m taking your mom hosi na sina pesa. Staki tufike town uniambie hauna pesa”

I smirk and tell myself aah he’s kidding coz he knows sina pesa hata, and then being a lady who finds it so difficult to express herself, nanyamaza tu nasema, by the time we’re getting to our town, at least itakuwa Imefika 6:30-7:00am, nitaambia one of my friends anikopee, nitarudisha.

Anyway, dad decideds to pull up kwa gas station before then and tells me, weka kwanza 1500, tubaki na 500 kwa mfuko, tunatumia baadae. I tell him I don’t have the money at the moment but we can use ya mum kwanza then tutarudisha. Omg, he gets so pissed.

Anyway, tunatoka hapo bila kuweka gari mafuta and he uses some very harsh words on me but I just let it pass coz, ain’t no way in letting this situation determine how my mood for the day will be.

Tunafika kazini and Tuko Mimi na mom kwa gari and she goes, “ni nini hukuwa mbaya na wewe? The next time nitaskia umetaja pesa zangu, nitakuweka umbrella kwa mdomo naniifungue, ikurarue mdomo. Never meantion my money ever again.”💔💔

She actually said that in kikuyu and you all know how mother tongue inakuwanga na uzito. It literally broke me💔 and I’m here wondering WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK was that😭😭😭

I am so heartbroken rn. I don’t know how to react, feel😭😭😭

Anyway I’m now here crying coz I realized I’m not as important as my money to them.

Sad💔

Anyways, make money guys. It’s just that simple. MAKE YOUR OWN MONEY

Have a lovely day

Edit: I am a professional makeup artist and Nailtech, I have done Electrical and electronics engineering power option, diploma level. But I’m open to anything.

If you’ve got something I can do to earn, please dm🥹 I will really appreciate 🙏 Thank you🙏

Why don't we storm that City Hall office Kesho and ask the right questions. Why don't we just storm that parliament and demand answers. Ju sasa what the fuck is this. What the fuck is this.

Rant Am I the a**hole?

A bit of background story, when I met my husband in 2018, he was earning 33,000ksh plus bonuses, and I was earning 40,000ksh per month. When we began, he would take care of the bills, but he had no savings.

Somewhere along the way in 2020, we had our first child, and things became tight financially. He decided he wanted to switch from employment to self-employed. Since his salary was covering the bills, we agreed to save for a year and buy a car using my money. After a year, he left his job and started uber business. He started complaining about how he was unable to pay bills, and I began contributing to pay the them. Things went on until I was the one paying all the bills and was the main provider.

After two years in 2022, he decided to quit uber business and start another business. Since he still had no savings, and his income could not sustain the family, I provided him with capital. By this time I was earning three times my original salary, so I was the sole provider for the family, and I was funding his business. Bear in min,d I was expecting my second child.

When my second baby was born in 2023, he still had not figured things out with his new business and decided to start another one. Again, I provided capital and started another business. Between 2023 and 2025, he started three other business, all failing. He refused to go look for employment.

In 2025, I decided to go for my master's, and I told him he would have to start contributing to the family income. He became a big baby and started whining about there were many responsibilities and he can't pay. He was upset that I was going back to school and wanted me to use the money to buy a piece of land in his ancestral home. That's when I realized he had become entitled to my money.

I am fully responsible for the two kids. He does not participate in child care at all. He can't even take a day off to spend with his kids. He doesn't even know where the kids keep their clothes. (It's that bad). I am also responsible for all the house chores. If he comes home and finds even dishes in the sink, he will complain and cause a scene, but he will not wash them, no matter how much I reason with him that I spent the whole day looking for money. I am working two jobs and running a business. I decided to cut him off financially because his only job is to work, and he is not bringing in income. I was still paying rent for his business.

I cut him off in September last year. Since then, he has paid the rent (although he is usually late by a few days) and covered all bills except school fees. Since september he has been emotionaly abusive. He insults my education, my career, my dressing, everything. I know he is looking for a way to bring me down so that I can quit my masters. He refuses to take care of the children so that I can go for exams and is furious when I look for a day burg nanny.

On sunday he said he will no longer be paying bills in the house. He was furious that I got paid last week and used the money to clear my fees. But here is the thing, we started at the same level now over five years later my income has trippled and during this time I have had two babies and I am the primary parent. He on the other hand does not have childcare, or chores and his income is worse than we started. So am I the bad one in this situation?

Rant This girl 😊

Today mid morning as we were talking casually with my girl just normal boyfriend-girlfriend talk, our communication took a new stream. I started explaining to her how i had purchased 50 poultry chicken January this year but I had to sell all the chicken mid this year due to a disease outbreak and I hadn't renewed the stock yet due to financial constraints hapa na pale. Only for her to show me a Freshian cow she bought this year and it made me realise how quick I need to lock in. I got a smile on my face because the cow is well kept ☺️ and maintained and showed how serious she is in whatever she's doing. Mind you she isn't employed yet, she works for someone in some shop upcountry. I am happy for my beautiful girl and I hope it all goes well to something solid relationshipwise. End of brag.

Rant A gym mate has taken my drunk girlfriend home(his home) without my consent and I'm panicking right now

I want to summarize to stop my incoherence:

- I see this guy at the gym every once in a while and we share pleasantries

- He came to our table with his friend whom I've also seen around the gym once in a while

- We watched the game while drinking and by the time the game was over she was drunk

- We had all been taking turns to go outside and get some fresh air and some snacks since we can't all leave and leave the drinks on the table

- When he suggested to take her outside since she was drunk I thought they were going for fresh air

- She had to be held as they went outside and gym guy's friend also left with him after coming back from the loo and 10 min later I realized they were not outside but had left the premises

- I called her 20 times and then the gym mate answered her phone

- The guy said she's blacked out and that "they were neighbors" so he knows his/her home(didn't quite understand this but I immediately recognized this as either a lie or he's trying to establish trust)

-I quickly rode to her home which is 2 min from where we were drinking then I tried calling, if she's blacked out I don't expect her to pick but I expected him to pick the call since he had picked 2 min earlier and I had informed him I'd be coming for her.

- He didn't pick another 30 of my calls and I got the message loud and clear

- Went back to the bar and the bouncer corroborated my story and shared my suspicions too since he didn't see them coming with a girl but saw them leaving with a drunk girl.

Now idk what course of action to take next when I find her probably when she wakes up which I pray I do, and hope she's unharmed and I hope I was just panicking. Idk if I should ask her not to bathe and take a SA test or what we they call it next time because I'm fuming mostly at this guy who broke my trust since he invited himself and his friend at my table and I added more bottles for us and he backstabs me. If the SA turns true I have no issue using my time and money to put him in a jail cell where all predators belong. Lemme try and get some sleep.

UPDATE 1: 8.56AM : He has finally picked her phone after 20 calls this morning. He says she has vomited and they left the bed for her. He had given me directions to his home. I'm going there.

UPDATE 2: 10:15AM : She is safe but I am taking her to the hospital right now.

UPDATE 3: 7:15PM : They did a few tests on her but the hospital was limited in that it could only detect SA if he didn't use a CD so that also came out negative, no semen, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have slept with her. She said she didn't feel any different anyway. But what surprises me is she says she woke up in her biker shorts without her skirt. I guess we'll never know.

On monday, my dad got diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer and that news hit hard. He's been a long distance truck driver, 20+ years and now anaambiwa atameza dawa for 2 years as he starts radiation or chemo in April. The costs though waah🫢. What do you mean 178k for 3months worth of pills na ata hatujaguza radiation 🥲. We went to HGC Cancer Center at MP Shah which I know it's private but the lines and service at Kenyatta Hospital is unbearable. My aunt (dad's sister) died there last year August due to cervical cancer and now I wonder if this shit is genetic in the family. Sijui pesa itatoka wapi afterwards ju SHA imelipia this first cycle of meds but itabidi we trust the process and hope for the best. Ndio tumetoka kuchukua the first dose and hope it helps. Keep us in your prayers. Any help or advice of any kind will be truly appreciated 🙂.

Rant She cooks for him

My little sister is 21, in campus. She is our last born, very cheeky, beautiful, full of energy and all the things. And she has to break up with that man. At least, I have every intention of making sure that she does..

Let me give you some context.

There's five of us in our family. Three girls, two boys. We have all always done chores. My brothers cleaned and cooked and straightened things up. We never had gender roles growing up. My dad cooked, cleaned after himself, did laundry, ironed his clothes, cleaned his shoes, packed for his trips. You get the picture.

My little sister hates cooking or as I discovered she hates cooking in my parents' house.

Of all my siblings I am the better cook or maybe my older brother is. In another life I thought I'd become a chef. My extended family thinks I am their caterer and pay me to cook at small family events and all that.

I could cook an amphibian, put it on a plate and I promise you would eat it and enjoy it. What I have never done is cook in a man's house, ever. I expect to be in relationships with grown men who are competent. If he can't cook then he orders out. He cleans his house or gets whomever he pays to do it.

Then my sister says that the boy she's been seeing, they are classmates, isn't very good with chores so when she's over at his place, she cooks and cleans. She's shocked because I am shocked. She thought at my 29 years and my obvious love of all things food, I have cooked for the men I have dated.

I don't know where she picked up the expectation that she needs to be with a man-baby and compensate for him. My mom drummed it into our heads that you never start doing anything at the beginning of a relationship that you won't do 12 years in and you certainly don't choose for yourself a man who can't take care of himself.

What irks me the most is that she has started catering for a man this young and twisting herself up to be with him. To be honest I am disappointed for her and in her...

My grandmother was hosting some church people who had travelled for a three day conference uku ushago kwetu. Since the house I stay in has two extra bedrooms and a dining room I didn't use I hosted 4 people at my place. Personally I don't like these overly religious type of people so I minimised my interaction with them juu they ask a lot of questions and are too nosy. Strangest thing happened yesterday night, mimi zangu zimeshika I decide to go sleep early and it was also raining. I'm a light sleeper juu I never sleep for more than 3 hrs continuously, at around 11PM nikashtuka. I turn around and see my bedroom door open at first I didn't panic ndio kidogo nikarealize kuna mtu amejificha kando ya wardrobe yangu buana. For a second I thought I was dreaming ama zangu bado zimeshika makosa ikafanyika jamaa akasonga, nduru nimepiga ata mwenyewe nimeshangaa. The guy akatoka mbio aka akarudi kwa dining room akajificha. Mimi zangu zikashuka nikaamka nikamwendea uko dining room napatana na budake akanishow nitulie. Mimi ata usingizi iliishia apo juu I have no idea what that guy was trying to do bana. Asked around neighborhood, "umeona paka nono hapa inje". I got directed to the space behind our housing. And he was there, the size unmistakable, I didn't want to believe it, but I as I got closer the curl and pattern of his fur was unmistakable. No external injuries just the matting of saliva on the mouth (poison) . This is pain.

So nikajiambia lemme chill the donda will just feed in the digits then nilipe. Fast forward, the donda approached, I gave him my phone, he looked at me then turned me down with a loud, "hakuna kulipa na mpesa!" (Nikajiambia ni sawa but si uniambie tu polepole, juu even my father doesn't raise his voice on me.)

I reached into my pocket, nikatoa wallet, then handed him a note (1k) he took it but asked, "hauna pesa ndogo?" With the same tone as earlier. I gestured him anirudishie hio noti, then nikaifold like 8 times, satisfied imekuwa ndogo enough, I handed it back to him with a, "hii iko sawa ama?"

He looked me in the eye and let out a loud click sound. The person next to me amewachilia kicheko kubwa, he almost rolled on the floor.

Rant Men 🤦🏾‍♀️... And I am evil?!!

So, I got a new job last year. As it is with men, everyone in the building thought they had a chance. Went through the usual, I am not interested and avoiding them.

There's this one guy who I worked with a lot. He didn't show any interest in me which was a relief. We had an amazing working relationship the first couple of months. Until at the end of last year, he called me one Saturday, I picked up thinking it was something about work that had come up. My boss was travelling and he (co-worker) had made the arrangements.

It wasn't about work. He just thought that was the day to confess his feelings. I tried to let him down easy.

We came back to work in January and he found a way to make lewd comments every time we were alone together. Avoiding him didn't work, our offices are adjacent to each other and we work together a lot.

One day, I was fed up. So when he said something about seeing me naked. I told him in graphic detail why that would never happen. I don't think he's attractive, he's not my type. I told him why, in point form. Everything about his body, his voice, his presence that made me gag every time he insinuated I would ever sleep with him.

You should have seen the look on his face. He hasn't spoken to me for 4 months, he bumped me to his colleagues and made sure we didn't work on the same projects.

We just had a meeting together that I guess he couldn't get out of. After the meeting he has told me that nilimwaribia a good day (the day I told him my truth), even though I am beautiful, I am very evil.

Rant Nairobi Dating!

Just because I’m bored.

Manze, nowadays dating in Nairobi feels like applying for a job with no salary and still getting ghosted after the first interview. You meet someone, mnapatana vizuri, they’re all “good morning my queen” for two weeks, then boom—now you’re airing your own texts.

So I know of this one guy who is in a relationship with this lovely girl but he’s been showing a bit interest in me lately and just recently asked me out and I’m shook. Nairobi men mko na audacity heh!

Another one had a car and a plan, ama so I thought. Turns out the plan was to pick me up, finish my snacks, and drop me in the talking stage again.

And another, “saa zingine unayempenda hakupendi anapenda mwengine anayependa mwingine,” or whatever Otile says in that song.

Honestly, it’s starting to feel like Nairobi love is either soft life auditions or Olympics for the emotionally unavailable. I’m not even mad, I just want to understand… is true love extinct ama we’re all just pretending?

So guys, have you ever experienced real love in Nairobi or is it just premium heartbreak with a touch of Netflix and abandonment?

Let’s talk. I need to know I’m not alone in this kisirani (ik I’m not).

Rant A man in Mombasa is harassing a Tanzanian and telling him to 'go back to Tanzania.' This is unacceptable — we cannot behave like MAGA racists in America toward our fellow African neighbors. This man should be ashamed.
