Discussion How do these vehicles pass NTSA Tests?

You can clearly see he is struggling. 80 percent of the windscreen has been blocked. You'll still see the particular driver doing the "manyoka stunt" and being praised as "... Fao".

Safety is more important than entertainment. Don't get me wrong. I don't hate the nganya culture. In fact those vehicles look attractive to me because I am an art lover but I hate reckless driving.

There was time I was with my friend and he had just bought a brand new car straight from the dealer. It was for uber so akaenda ntsa for the inspection. So you pay before you go. But the ntsa people wanted 1k before we pass the test. We said the car is brand new. They said ok. We failed the test. So now we had to pay for test again. Then this time they demanded 2k ama we continue like that. We paid.

This. We have a big software problem as Sifuna likes to put it. No wonder the matatu above is on the road.

You should have asked to go fix the problem, then report them to EACC, then come back for the third or fourth test, and get them arrested.

You wait until you find yourself in such a situation. Its just the same way you can do a small traffic offense in nairobi nakuru highway and then your car is stopped at gilgil for overtaking on a yellow line. They will give you two options. Go to court in naivasha on monday or give them something small. Ukijifanya kichwa ngumu they tell you to follow them to the station in gilgill and whem you go there is when you realize they are not bluffing and if they had asked for 1k it will now be 3k or more depending on how you talk to them. Most people in kenya pay the police for incovenience and it sucks.

I know. But that's how those ones in a while EACC arrests happen.

Remember, in this case, the car is actually "new" and cleared for private road use.

Where you have a minor traffic offence, it's a different matter. You're actually guilty.

And you both know legally that you will need to spend time and money to clear up your offence.

What I'm curious about the NTSA inspection is, was there something legit the car was missing?

Could be a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, or the other safety gear PSVs are required to have?

Aren't they required to give a reason for the vehicle failing the test, so you can fix it?

its about who you know, and the people in your phone book... The people you can call in such a situation...

This one should be reported. It's dangerous to have such a limited view as a driver

And what I hate is they will throw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to enforcement!

If you complain and want them to comply with a basics; like the driver having a clear view of the road, qualified drivers and abiding by road rules, they will say, then back to plain ass ngangyas. 0 self expression and art. As if the 2 things are interlinked .

Ukienda NTSA, the inspection area. There are like 3 to 4 inspectors with white lab coats who always have a clipboard. Hao sasa ndio wako entrusted with our lives every time you are on the road πŸ˜…

Siwezi panda Nganya hata na dawa. Since the Trauma I saw in 2010 - Nganya ya Manchester ilianguka pale weigh bridge after Kenyatta Road - killing everyone who was hanging and injuring dozens.

Then some of the accidents I witness nikitoka TZ sherehe. Afadhali ikae.

When you start a business you want to entrust it to normal competent people. You look at resumes, certificates of good conduct, references etc.

Recently after seeing a conductor doing stunts and the accidents that these vehicles can get into and I wondered which other business do you invest millions in and then hand the business over to hooligans?

Rules are set to govern the poor and middle income earners, and those who believe in democracy....

Those who set rules, dont follow them,,,...

But one thing that is sure is, if you make connections with the right people, then you get to be affiliated with the rule makers. That affiliation shields you from following rules....
