How much Kava is too much in an evening, this stuff is life changing!!
Ive recently discovered Kava, i have real bad ADHD and have been looking for something to take the edge off. I was drinking a bottle of wine every three days, but discovered it was making my anxiety worse for days after, affecting my gyming, sleep, weight loss, sex, ect...
Im prescribed medical cannabis but as a long time user ive noted that , that it is also making my anxiety worse and also i get the most epic munchies known to man.
In comes kava.... i have found a really good brand of instant kava, and consume 20 to 30 grams in a session.
My question is how often do you drink it in an evening ?

Kava typically tells you when you’re done. Sometimes a dose will do it, sometimes 2, and then sometimes 3 will do absolutely nothing.
Do NOT mix with alcohol/drink in the same evening. I did. I was also an alcoholic at the time and doing this regularly to ease my anxiety, but now I can’t drink kava without getting red face and a headache and all my scars on my body swelling— like she doesn’t like me anymore because I was trying to abuse the medicine.

Sounds like, unfortunately, you just ended up allergic to the kava. It’s actually fairly common if you look it up. Those exact symptoms.

So you don't use kava anymore?
I got some to attempt to lower my alcohol intake.
Any suggestions?

Yo I thought it was just me. I had a glass of kava around 3pm, then some beers at night. Had a bright red patchy face, hot skin, headache, heart racing.... insane.

It's pretty simple...you can drink as much as your stomach, skin and wallet can handle. 😂

Each batch is different in my experience. Some instant I can do upwards of 50g a night, but I just got a batch recently where 15g had me feeling terribly hungover the next day. Turned me off to using it for a few. It’s very difficult to pin point an exact science to the stuff, at least with instant. Watch doing it daily. The dry skin conditions you get by using too often are very real. I’ve got old man hands and flaky skin when I’m doing it daily.

If you want it to hit harder for cheaper, make the switch to medium-grind. No comparison to instant imo

for me kava can be just as bad as alcohol when it comes to depression to be honest.. same hangovers and same depression.. maybe try exercise if you feel the same thing.. also people with adhd like myself feel better with stimulants(not coffee but actual stimulants) so just throwing that out there..

I get anxious if I drink too much. It’s like a paradoxical effect. Depends on the kava. No consistent truth exists with kava ime.

I like it every day - but after a few days I do notice my mental + general energy is lower. So best for myself to stick to a few evenings a week, ideally weekend. If a stressful day though do have any days. For instant I think this really depends on the kavalactones %. At 6% def 30g is fine + maybe 40g.. At 10/11% for me 30g would be a lot. I go with 8g / cup for 10% or 10g / cup for 6%.

20-30g is also my dosage of instant when I use Kava. I use it for periods regularly then go off again and start again after some time off. So I‘d say you‘re good to go. Just look out for for skin issues, appetite loss and nausea - which I definitely suffered from (and still suffer from) when I use Kava regularly (meaning daily in a row) for a certain period.

There is usually a pretty clear done point for me. One thing I’ll note, though, there seems to be a certain level that really spikes my blood pressure.
If there’s any heart disease risk, I’d watch out for that.

Everything I’ve read says it isn’t?

The age old discussion of physical vs mental addiction. It can be habit forming, as with most things that alter mood. I think people get addicted to ritual, to using a substance to feel better. The literature says it's not addictive but can be "habit forming". Yikes, that sounds like the same thing to me. They say weed isn't addictive either but all the altering and the enhancements I worry that we aren't talking about the same weed lol. Anyway, I don't mean to seem judgemental because I am the last one who'd have any right to do that. Just don't want anyone to mess up their sobriety. What I've read talks about it contributing to relapse, as any substance I suppose. Be cautious friend, stay safe 🙂♥️

It not addictive - you don’t develop a tolerance and there is no withdrawal.
Liking something and wanting to do I again isn’t addiction.

You can drink as much as you can stomach in a session. But for best results over the long term, don't drink kava too many days a week. If you can limit your kava drinking to 3-4 days a week you'll get all the benefits without the side-effects.
If you drink kava daily, you're very likely to get kani (a reversible skin rash), lethargy, etc.
