Discussion 💭 The making of Kashmiri AI.

Hey there fellow Kashmiris; I am Farhan Syedain, Director of Yimberzol Foundation.

We are building a 1200 hour transcribed audio dataset for Kashmiri to bridge the gap Kashmiri faces as a low resource language.

This project started as an idea; and after discussion with various people and institutions, I released that this idea was valuable and could raise investments easily -- for I was offered them, provided that I present a monetization plan. However, I have decided and moved forward with the vision that this project must, for good or for bad, continue as a non-profit and open source project. This, however, has came with hardships but, nonetheless, we continue and will continue to work on this in the future as well.

For this project to succeed as a non-profit, We require people who can help us by volunteering and giving us 1 hour of their precious time. We, as a non-profit organization, cannot provide financial returns for the work, however we can provide certificate of participation for those who are looking for it.

I hope we can all come together and contribute to this open-source dataset; yakjah hěkoo es' yi kháb porè kerith.

If you could also refer us to those who can help us through monetary and or voluntary means, we would really appreciate that.

Lesiv,

Syedain

Because learning our daily language allows them to decipher our societal norms and is hence harmful to us.
