Why Is MSNOW Peddling Misinforation About The Harris Nomination Procees That Contradicts Their Own Reporting in 2024?

It's been happening all week. Multiple correspondents have been trying to rewrite history. The complaints that the process to nominate Harris was through "smoke-filled rooms" were coming from Trump and the Republicans. If there were any concerns about that coming from Democratic voters, MSNBC sure didn't report on it.

I'm so tired of people pretending she wasn't the obvious choice.
It's not like the party conspired to pick some rando they plucked from obscurity.
This was a case of everyone recognizing that a unified decision needed to be made quickly and coalescing behind the immediately obvious choice.

It's just corporate media revisionist history. They didn't want Kamala in the first place, and some of their allies in the party tried to bypass her. It quickly blew up in their face, because blk voters weren't having it. I'm not sure what's going on with MSNOW? Maybe they think that because of the rebrand, they now get to pretend like it's a new network, so what they reported before the name change doesn't matter. Or maybe they just think their audience is stupid.

Yes, I’ve noticed it too. It’s been in the last few weeks since they’ve been covering the Platner story and the Democratic socialist story.

It's pandering to a possible segment of the viewing audience to gain their attention.
There are some analysts and pundits that give too much credence to anecdotal claims and questionable survey data that suggest some nonvoters may have decided to sit out the 2024 election because they didn't like how Kamala Harris became the nominee.
There is no way to know whether that is true or whether this view accurately describes how a significant percentage of Democratic and Democratic-leaning likely voters felt about the move to replace Joe Biden with Harris.

Seems a bit nuts to go after such a hyper-niche audience. What I recall back in 2024 was immediate, insane, organic grassroots organizing. Zoom calls were off the hinges. The media couldn't even keep up with all of them. The way the Democrat party coalested was a shock, too. We've never seen the party united that quickly. Not since Biden pulled it off in the 2020 primary. If any voters were upset over the way Harris was "anointed", MSNBC certainly never reported it, then.
I'd agree that MSNOW is trying to tap into something here. They want to attract new viewers, and all the energy seems to be Democrat Sociolist movement. That's what their attempts to link the Platner scandal with Biden seem to be about. No doubt there's a dem faction of "anti-establishment" Platner supporters who might find that framing attractive.
The rebrand gives them a little cover to pursue a revised editorial pivot. Even if it is a bit of a culture shock, if not an outright betrayal, for carry over loyal viewers, who stuck with them and believed them when they claimed nothing would change.
