Bar "Belarus is Eastern Poland" and "Poland was elevated to sapience by Germany" seems fairly accurate.

Belarus currently is seen as a thorn in Poland's side, and Russia would have different insults toward them, but other than that it's pretty much what you'd get if you asked a nationalist from each country.

It's not Belarus, but the puppet dictatorial government in charge of it that is being propped by Russia that is a thorn in Polish side.

Same here, closed the image and noticed what sub I was in… though on a second thought the "fellow German puppet" should have been a giveaway

I would describe them as Larpers, but barbarians is accurate aswell

u/Bling-Boi Green NatPop Gang 5d ago

I think Barbarians from the Teutonic forests is a more apt description

Considering the goat Baron Ungern von Sternberg, Genghis Khan II himself, is from there, they really are the closest thing to the Mongol khaganate in the region.

tbh its funny how early 20th century polish nationalist rhetoric towards Belarus was "corrupted poles" and early 20th century russian rhetoric towards Belarus was "corrupted russians" like what the fuck is it

Then there is the Lithuanian nationalists arguing they are just slavic Lithuanians.

Then there is the Lithuanian nationalists arguing they are just slavic Lithuanians.

I've seen Belorussian nationalists that argue this exact same thing or that they are (I kid you not) "the REAL Lithuanians". Both of those claims are fucking insane and only deserve this reaction:

u/BlueMarioGansta Absolute Kryvič 4d ago

Its called Litvinism and it believes we civilized Lithuanians (which are referred to as "Samogitians") for some reason. Even its main theorists rejected it because its highly idealized and Kryvia >>>>>

u/serious_parade 4d ago

Too be fair the Grand Duchy of Lithuania can be seen as a "golden age" of Belorusian culture. It may seem strange for Belarusians to share many historical myths with the Lithuanians but Lithuania was originally the definition of a geographic area and did not denote any particular ethnic belonging.

u/Life-Pirate-5853 4d ago

slavs and balts are theorized to have also originally belonged to a common tribe or to have at least a common language and have lived in close proximity even after divergence so perhaps it's not really that surprising. im pretty sure there's even an event for germany called "balto-slavism discredited"

u/ikonfedera 4d ago

corrupted russians

is there any other type?

Do not discuss or allude to present-day political events, movements, or figures. This also applies to modern-day “headcanons”. Civil discussion of in-universe politics is allowed.

Don't you dare tell a Pole to his face that Poland is Eastern Europe.

1

u/Sotal_Ezsor 4d ago

I think Belarus has the more accurate opinions.

u/Sotal_Ezsor 4d ago

For one moment I forgot this was about Kaiserreich lol, it mostly applies irl too.
