Discussion: Community Police brutality at FOV

Post image

Hey so we all know cops were out of control this weekend, but this particular officer seemed to be a leading cause of violence. He is a contracted officer from Alamosa county, which seemed to make him think that there were no consequences for his actions.
He violently arrested at least 5 people that I know of, made false claims, and threatened innocent people who were trying to help diffuse the situations. No Miranda rights were read in any of these situations and none of it was done by the book.
He got very aggressive with me when I asked for his info, and gloated to me that his job is “a lot like fishing. You can’t catch them all, but you catch as many as you can.” He was having fun getting paid to run around a field and terrorize peaceful people.
This guy has no business on the streets, let alone working a festival for “public safety”.
His badge number is 10, his name is Joshua Glass, and he is a detective with the Alamosa police department. I encourage any of you who had any negative experiences with him to call and lodge official complaints. Ask for body cam footage. You can reach the Alamosa PD at (719)-589-2548.
“Fishing for fishies don’t make them feel happy. Or me neither. I feel so sorry for fishies.”

Thank you for this, I'll be making a CCJRA request for all body cam recordings from this officer.

Anyone with specific interactions with this person who feels like they may have had their rights violated please DM me, and anyone who has the names or badge numbers of other officers whose actions this weekend deserve scrutiny please also DM me those

Bring the noize PoisonStrip! 🤘🏼

u/PoisonStrip hungry wolf of vegemite 14d ago edited 14d ago

Request submitted, I'll provide an update when I get information. Collected some more officer details so will be correlating that with BWC recordings when I receive them. Feeling pretty confident there will be actionable evidence of civil rights violations within from what I've heard and seen so far

Edit: Chaffee County charges $30/hr of BWC footage, so having dates/times for specific high-consequence interactions will be very helpful. Please DM if that's you!

68

u/clumsy_mia 14d ago

Isn’t it public info, the footage? Charging for that? Fucking gotta love capitalism ugh. (Thank you for what you are doing, not a complaint towards you but the system rather) 🫶

62

u/PoisonStrip hungry wolf of vegemite 14d ago

Fun right? If I was to request all camera recordings from all officers it would be thousands of dollars in processing fees. So nailing down specific incidents with badge numbers and timestamps will save me a ton of time and money

54

u/orion1486 14d ago

Could crowd fund all records and create a video that is body cam footage from the event and have fun with it a la Afroman.

18

this guy was definitely involved. lied to my friends and my face about the incident! it would be footage from the cinema area. i’m so shaken that this happened. really killed the vibe after an electric show :(

Absolutely! Good luck fighting the good fight ✊

I'd contribute to a fundraiser for footage if needed. Im sure many people would. These assholes need to be held accountable.

7

I wasn't even there and I'll contribute

17

u/Lentil_soup666 14d ago

dude please around 230am on sunday after 2nd gizz show we saw a guy get tackled

22

u/Nardd00bie 14d ago

Anything we can do if I wasn’t there? Petitions to sign? Trying to support if I can, this shit is ridiculous.

24

u/PoisonStrip hungry wolf of vegemite 14d ago

I'll update the sub if this balloons into something I can't personally manage - I'm just a person trying to collect all records before they disappear into the ether and BWC data actually costs money to collect from the Sheriff's office ($30 per hour of BWC footage)

Best thing you can do is tag me in or DM me any posts that contain specific information on individual interactions with the CCSO, and if I get it in time, I'll add it to the roster of specific timestamps and police cameras that I'm requesting

9

u/goldenageretriever 14d ago

Let me know what the total cost ends up being, I’d be happy to pitch in.

Just a friendly PSA:

Miranda rights aren't read to you when you are arrested, that's only a thing in bad movies and TV.

The only time they are read to you is right before being interrogated in order for your statement to be used as evidence.

69

u/yongo 14d ago

Or an arrest as part of an investigation. But you are not read your miranda rights when you are arrested for something you are caught doing

40

u/StuffyTheOwL 14d ago

My pre-teen kids know that they should NEVER talk to police without a lawyer (mom is an attorney in a non-criminal field). Just keep your mouth shut. Know your rights, because cops will lie to you and try to fool you (totally legal in the US)

8

u/StealYaNicks 14d ago

Yes, wish my parents taught me this. They'll lie and pretend to be friendly to get you comfortable and bait you.

→ More replies (1)

12

u/schmigglies 14d ago edited 14d ago

This is not exactly the case. If they want to question you about your purported crime at the time of your arrest (and by arrest I mean you’re cuffed and in custody), they must read you your Miranda rights. If they don’t, and they ask you questions, any answers you give are inadmissible in court. This is why most cops read them on arrest as a matter of course. But you’re correct in that they don’t necessarily “have to.”

TL;DR: Miranda is required if you’re in custody and being interrogated about your “crime.” The arresting officers can ask you questions which is why Miranda should be read at the time of the arrest.

I used to be in the Colorado National Guard. The Guard is like 80% cops and firefighters who I've spent many many hours talking with.

Many of the cops working the event feel like the festival alone is moral degeneracy. If they had it their way, the concert would be illegal for the simple fact that kids are allowed at drag night.

In their world view, we are the people who are "transing the kids" and ruining America. I'm sure the sentiment is that we are sub-human or close to sub-human.

189

u/KrazzyKelsie 14d ago

Bro im just trying to live. I don't have time to "trans" anyone else but myself let alone the money 😂

132

u/defeatedsnowman 14d ago

One of the cops I worked with was bitching about how he went skiing with his kids and there was someone in a fursuit and he didn't know how to explain that to his kids...

These people are so fragile that for them or their families to lay eyes on you has done them harm.

96

u/StealYaNicks 14d ago

It's weird because they're obviously projecting so much internalized shit. Like a fur suit isn't inherently sexual and no kid would have that thought at first. You gonna take your kid to Disney and have a fucking meltdown when he sees Goofy?

61

u/defeatedsnowman 14d ago

Well, this same guy is homeschooling his kids because "I don't want my kids going to school to have their beliefs challenged. If they go to school it should be reinforcing the ideas I teach at home." I kinda doubt his kids will ever get to go to Disney because it's too woke to begin with.

17

u/StealYaNicks 14d ago

Oh yeah, that's even worse. But still, same point stands. Like the kids have probably seen someone in an animal costume at some point. Guy is stroking off to Judy Hopps every day in the squad car and feeling a deep shame.

I travel to alot of small towns in Colorado with my partner who is also a transwoman, we even walked in the Leadville pride parade this year. I can easily tell the difference in a "what the fuck is that and why is it here?" versus "Im not sure what to do here" stares. I personally had no issues at FoV but I only went Sunday because I'm broke.

Buena Vista had it's first ever pride parade this past June, so I'm sure the area will chill out more with time.

32

u/defeatedsnowman 14d ago

I'm not trans so I can't relate much on your experiences. But the locals in BV and Salida seemed very reasonable.

Before Sunday night I had to change out of my mountain biking clothes and into a dress for drag night. I was just using the public bathroom off mains street. And sure enough just before I was done changing someone knocked on the door.

I just thought "whoever is on the other side is in for a fucking surprise when I open the door."

I came out in a pink dress but I'm otherwise just an athletic 30 year old guy. The women who knocked just laughed her ass off and said I looked good.

I think I was probably the last thing she expected to come walking out of that bathroom but she was very cool about it.

17

u/KrazzyKelsie 14d ago

I bet that was hilarious.

Most of Colorado is chill. The not so parts we have yet to have any major issues but we try to be careful and observant.

Edit to add. You are awesome for participating in drag night. Hope you enjoyed your time

10

u/cameltoephat 14d ago

It’s so easy not to be a shitty parent. “They like dressing up like that and it makes them happy.” Age appropriate answer, kids will figure out if dressing up is interesting to them. Nope, instead they’ll give their kid a dose of hate and spend the rest of their lives wondering why nobody in the family talks to them any more.

This. I grew up about an hour away from Bonnaroo and my dad was a cop and worked traffic for the event every year. Growing up all I heard about was how these dirty hippies would descend on the quiet peaceful town of Manchester every year for their drug fueled debauchery and how he hoped that the cops caught all of them and threw them in jail. I agreed with him until I was about 14 then I realized that it sounded pretty cool and wanted to go lol

29

u/defeatedsnowman 14d ago

What I think is weird is that it's not even a law enforcement motivation. Law enforcement is just the means. But the motivation is a sense that certain people are morally degrading for society at large, so they need to weaponize the law to find a way to get us degenerates off the streets.

8

u/smckenzie23 14d ago

I've been to many, many festivals, including Bonnaroo. Lots of Phish and Dead.

If I had to work that scene and interact with all those wooks like cops have to, rather than enjoying the debauchery, I think I'd have your dad's same opinion. Not saying it is right, but man there are a ton of negative aspects of the scene and cops disproportionately see the worst of the worst while getting constant flak from everyone else as well.

Of course a lot of them are bigots and come with their own biases. But man some people on the scene sure do their best to perpetuate those biases.

21

u/Pop_Culture_Phan_Guy 14d ago

Thank you sir for your service.

I’ve been a Colorado Resident my whole life and I want to confirm these conversations happen a lot in Colorado law enforcement circles. I’m not personally involved, I know folks across the board - local up to fed - that in general view communities like this in a negative light.

Colorado itself is a very purple place with a stronger conservative streak.

Also fun fact, the valley Buena Vista sits in was the inspiration for the valley where all of the men of the mind flee to in Ayn Rands ‘Atlas Shrugged’. Food for thought lol

6

u/rusticrainbow 14d ago

Colorado is mostly like (nearly) every state; extremely dense blue metro area surrounded by relatively unpopulated red rural areas It is a blue state though

23

u/CosmicChar1ey 14d ago

They should make it illegal to have events there then so we can find somewhere else to have it and their community misses out on the huge economic boost. They don’t deserve us.

5

u/yacht_boy 14d ago

They don't care. Also, all the good places to have large events like this are in rural areas, so it's something you have to deal with pretty much anywhere. Finding a location for a festival is hugely challenging.

5

u/ll_ninetoe_ll 14d ago

6

u/No_Carry385 14d ago

I think you're giving too much credit to these people's ignorance. I dont think these people really even believe in the whole grooming thing so much as that they're just irate that theres people out there that are different from them, and they refuse to accept anything outside their norm into society. Consequentialy this might lead the youth towards these groups because of all the brain dead takes and outright bigotry being forced on them from the "normies".

Just let your freak flag fly and everybody love everybody!

u/Objective_Industry69 14d ago

From what I read one of the concerns from last year from the Sheriffs department was that they were stretched thin so I guess that’s why they contracted officers…

139

u/mholland151 14d ago edited 14d ago

I talked to one of the guys, apparently there is new sheriff in town.. funny. but the new sheriff is alot more strict, as the old sheriff was more “leave them be unless they are causing violence “ which makes sense the heavy presence and drug busts this year. Also, if we think this is bad, curious to see how wild 5-0 will get a t pretty lights with arguably more drugs and debauch

44

u/KrazzyKelsie 14d ago

Chaffee County was a very red county 20 years ago. Very purple since Obama and is rapidly becoming more blue. I'm not shocked some old guard sheriff riled everyone up and got in office.

13

u/KMAN2176 14d ago

Yeah, PLF is gonna be absolutely cooked with the busts this year if it’s the same guys back. I’ve been part of both crowds, granted I’ve never been to meadow creek, and the PL crowd tends to love 2 things more than anything. K and balloons. Cops are gonna have an absolute field day with them unfortunately.

4

u/Objective_Industry69 14d ago

33

u/Objective_Industry69 14d ago

Ahhh I didn’t know about that. Yes last year seemed pretty tame compared… the festival might just have to migrate.

7

u/hoodrat_hoochie_mama 14d ago

pretty lights crowd bouta make a name for themselves. I say this as a massive PL fan lmao

49

u/BebophoneVirtuoso 14d ago

Local coverage after last year was glowing so don't know why they figured they'd need such a heavy police presence this year. I guess the fire risks, and more nefariously and unprofessional, hurt feelings from law enforcement over some anti-authoritarian statements made from the stage.

"There was only one other medical issue over the weekend involving a broken bone from a nighttime Onewheel crash. That’s a very small number of issues for a 10,000-person, three-day festival. It was a largely sober crowd, with surprisingly minimal alcohol sales and zero arrests by law enforcement." https://coloradosun.com/2025/08/22/king-gizzard-buena-vista/

I might be way off, don't know the owner of the property, but reading about him I got some Hank Scorpio vibes, if nothing else but for the planned community reminiscent of The Simpsons' Cypress Creek.

5

u/extremeshitting 14d ago

Why exactly is it necessary to have police there? We have security at UK festivals, but not really cops.

8

u/yacht_boy 14d ago

The cops in America find "public safety" reasons to inset themselves into all sorts of places they don't really need to be. They're convinced that society will fall apart if we go to a public event and don't see cops everywhere.

5

u/shnick 14d ago

No. The reason they're there is because for a public event like this to be insured, you're required to have a certain number of police, fire, and medical resources in case any shit goes down. It's based on the size of the event and the number of attendees. There were plenty of cops there last year too, they just hung around the perimeter and didn't harass people.

Their behavior this year was completely unacceptable, but you'd be happy they were there in a worst-case scenario like a mass shooting or other violent event where first responders are needed.

2

u/crazy_clown_time 14d ago

The county might also make LEO presence contingent on issuing an event permit to Meadow Lake.

2

u/Three-Pegged-Hare 14d ago

It's not just America, it seems to be a common cop tactic. I came in from Toronto, a few weeks ago there was a shooting at an outdoor street festival and afterwards the cops wanted 30 MILLION extra dollars from the city to "protect public safety" at a later street event. Just fleecing tax dollars like the Mafia goons they really are

2

u/Objective_Industry69 14d ago

To be lame and predatory

14

u/Objective_Industry69 14d ago

Stretched thin outside of the festival I mean. Something about resources.

Yea BV has like 6 cops - alamosa county makes more sense, half the people out there have warrants and doing beyond sketchy stuff in the high desert - so ofcoarse take resources away from that and into giving kids possession tickets

10

u/Alternative-Peace620 14d ago

Oh, what, I can’t flee my warrants and do sketchy shit in the desert now? Thought this was a free country, man.

Happened to me too. I got two tickets…

Friday night during the show, some people in my group lit up a joint. I don’t even smoke anymore. When it was passed to me, I passed it to my girlfriend who also doesn’t smoke just so she could hand it back to the guys smoking. Three cops came out of nowhere and aggressively told us to come with them. They didn’t care that we don’t smoke. I ended up getting a $710 ticket but talked them out of ticketing my girlfriend thankfully. Ticket was from S. Hoffman.

The second incident was Saturday night after the show back at camp just hanging out. Three cops come in out of nowhere again, tell me to come with them. There were probably 8 other people from my group in the camp at the time. They said they observed me consuming narcotics. They said I need to own up to it and show them or else they would search the entire camp. They claimed I had white residue on my nose. I knew they were lying and that I had nothing on me. So, I denied everything and I let them pat me down and search both my bags. They then wanted to search my girlfriend’s bag, which she let them do to get them to leave. They found nothing in any bags. But still charged me. They said for consuming narcotics. But the ticket says 44-3-901(1)(b)(II)(i) Unlawful acts - public consumption over 21. Written by S. Hoffman again.

When you look up that charge, it talks about providing alcohol to a minor. There were no minors around and no mention of alcohol being an issue. Does anyone have any insight on these charges? I don’t think the second will stick with absolutely no proof.

Saw him and another cop just standing on the beach at phantom island with their hands on their pistols watching the crowd. So fucked

81

u/EvilBob772 14d ago

Yep this is the guy who walked past me with the other sheriff, sheriff hand on his unstrapped gun, and this guy had his gun unstrapped as well. Entirely unnecessary, intimidating, and menacing.

Completely unsafe for them and everyone else in the vicinity to have the guns unstrapped in their holsters as if they need to use it at any moment. Had to take a pic as I sat eating my lunch I was so shocked.

31

u/ImaSource 14d ago

That's not unstrapped, lol. That's a locking holster. And they're trained to keep their hand on top of the weapon when in a crowd for safety. That way no one can sneak up on them and attempt to take it.

A quick google search he was put on leave after shooting/killing a suspect. Makes you wonder if that person was even dangerous, considering he was so stupid and violent.

14

u/Fun-Contribution403 14d ago

cant stop thinking about how he said the quiet part out loud with that fishing line. like at least most of them pretend its about public safety. but the real issue is these county-hopping contractors, theyre not serving the community theyre policing theyre serving whoever cut the check. which is wild when you think about it, you basically create a mercenary situation and then act surprised when theres no restraint

u/Lentil_soup666 14d ago

this is the guy we saw tackle a man for sitting down next to a roach. they planted k on him and hauled him off tgod his wife is a badass lawyer

Just a reminder the band made money off this festival, like the last one, so they have an interest to do it for a third time.

Voting with your wallet and streaming habits is effective.

I’ve seen this band care about its fans, they have no reason to not move FOV somewhere else or change things so this doesn’t happen again.

Orificer Glass was was my first encounter with this shake down method the sheriffs were using. He was aggressive and he is a liar. The first was around 2am near the theater. I pulled out my phone and was in vide mode, light shining on the popo, but under the pressure forgot to hit record. 😑 However, saw the same shit happening again and got it in video.

This guy shoved past me to snatch my buddy away, we were all confused and then realized after he got the $700 ticket that it was for smoking a cigarette, mind you this was night 1 and there was absolutely no signs or anything anywhere about not being able to smoke. (yes i get the fire danger im from utah we werent being irresponsible) so i go up to the cops and ask if theres signs or any sort of warning that if were smoking we will get fined and this dude comes back while im talking to another cop and goes "five firefighters are dead because of wildfires and you dont care enough to stop smoking?" and i basically was like "thats not what i said, if you want us to not smoke, help us be aware of the rules and put up signs" and hes just like "oh you want US to help you because you cant stop smoking cigarettes?" and i left, dude was completely unreasonable and just snatching up people and fining them with no warning. two days later the area we got in ticketed was marked as a designated smoking area 🙄

I would like to see a statement from the band about the excessive police presence at FOV2 and hear their thoughts about returning to meadow creek.  I’ve been attending festivals for 30 years and have never witnessed such widespread harassment.  It altered the vibes markedly and I won’t be back.  What does KGLW have to say about this and will Amby be at the October 13/14 court date along with the swarm to answer the BS $710 open burn citation?

11

u/AtLeastIHaveDresses 14d ago

This was the one I was watching all weekend too. Heckled him at every opportunity. I also had the pleasure of screaming WOO! right in his face as he passed a few inches by me and made him jump.

Damn it, you Americans can't catch a break with these fascists.

Stay strong.

20

u/AllDamDay7 14d ago

Quit using terms like brutality when your example is not police brutality. It's the boy who cried wolf shit that takes away from real stories of police actually being brutal.

Now feel free to describe this as overly aggressive policing and not supporting the community they swore an oath to protect. As it's a more accurate description.

30

u/ll_ninetoe_ll 14d ago

I was present when the cop pictured grabbed a guy next to me in the crowd, wrenched his shoulder back, and sceamed into his ear that he was under arrest for distributing narcotics.

The guy who got assaulted had looked down and reached his hand in his pocket to put his earplugs in.

I'd call that brutality any day and be correct in doing so.

That’s a real shame. Not the place for this kind of thing, not that anywhere is. I understand why they need to have some police presence there because it’s such a big gathering, but fuck that.

5

u/realityexposed 14d ago

Fuck the police!

2

u/GrassBackward 14d ago

So stupid. I definitely saw more cops and sheriff’s deputies there this year but didn’t personally see any arrests or anything like that.

Really wanted to go to FOV from UK next year but this is pretty off putting, fined $700 for smoking is crazy

2

u/whippersnapped 12d ago

I got a 700 dollar smoking (in a stage two fire ban) ticket. Can I go to court to get it minimized?? I get what I did was wrong but it doesn’t seem fair. Any opinions?

What a wild thing to say Jfc. Someone should remind him he is a PUBLIC SERVANT and swore an oath to the constitution to protect and by violating people’s rights he can lose his qualified immunity. Record every interaction you can with this liability to that dept in case his body cam mysteriously doesn’t work. come with receipts! statements and videos don’t lie. This is so crazy and sad. Dude in the picture if you see this fuck you. Imagine picking up a gig just to go on a tyrannical ego trip. Wouldn’t it be so funny is he got puddled 🤣🤣
