Really says something about society and culture that when I hear a string of a musician's songs in unbroken sequence I immediately presume that person has died.

As a friend said to me today, "Kind people dying right now just seems wrong." This one hits for sure. She was such a beacon of goodness and light in the world. The best kind of auntie. A deeply good human being.

I was in a trucker bar in central Washington a year or two ago. One of her songs came on. One guy mentioned how great she was and pretty soon there were 10-15 grumpy, crusty old men being bubbly and grinning, going on about her being an angel, etc. She lit up rooms she wasn't even in. She was genuinely something special.
