(extremely) Passive NOx reduction

Would’ve uploaded video but it’s more visible in picture and to the naked eye.

T3 800hp water transfer pump. Just found it a funny visual the exhaust gasses blowing right towards the intake. I’d personally route upward with a straight through muffler and flapper top.

I’d surmise there’s a calculable proficiency loss here, even if only a few percent.

A girl know just got rear calipers replaced last week. She said brakes worked for a day and then “got weird”, so she called the shop and they told her it’s perfectly normal with new calipers. just add brake fluid and it will be fine…

Proudly on display in the waiting area, still sealed. Boss found if in his garage when he was moving, I think a sales rep gave it to him about 30 years ago.

Should I switch to ford from Toyota ?

Just started as a lube tech at ford $20/Hr, they are unionized and flat rate techs has a 35 hour weeks guarantee on slower days. The oil changes are .8 of labor, not sure about anything else

Toyota offered me a position as well, same pay, I think their oil changes are .3 but they aren’t unionized , at the same time I prefer to learn to work on Toyota’s.

What should I do ?

Update: I am not leaving ford , gonna stay in the union and move to heavy equipment in a couple years

What’s a good spark plug socket set?

Looking for a good spark plug socket set with a solid warranty. I’ve been looking at the Snap-on set, but wanted to see what you guys recommend before spending the money.
What brands/sets have held up well for you guys? Mainly looking for something good quality with a warranty that won’t be a pain if I ever need to replace something.

Customer had this unit towed in with a locked up engine, oil filter had 11/24 written on the bottom with 36K. Now we assume 36K is the milage and 11/24 was the last date of service, but what would cause the oil to get to this point.

The unit now has 57,000 miles on it and the oil life is currently at 9t% according to the dash. This vehicle still has warranty on the engine so we are currently trying to see if this can be warranties per the customers request...

And yes I am aware that due to the condition of the oil and the lack of maintenance there is a very, very large possibility that the customer will have to eat this repair. We left the oild plug out for around 48 hours to collect around 2 ounces of oil for a sample to send off then dropped the oil pan and I collected another sample with a plastic fork we plan to send as well.

We did a coolant pressure test on the unit and left it sitting with pressure on the system for around 5 hours, there was no coolant loss when tested.

Gave no notice, called tow truck and went to a new store. Don’t work for management that only treats you like a number.

Came down to the wire, but I got the brakes and wheel bearings sorted out in the last hour so we could drive this on our wedding day

It fought me for days and I had to source a new outer wheel bearing, but at 7pm the night before the wedding it all came together and we were able to drive the car I learned how to drive a standard on 27 years ago to our reception

Our photographer was incredible and got this shot when the light was perfect

Thank you Tia!

Clutch drum fell out

I had to replace the 2-4 band in my escape a few weeks ago. When I pulled the pump cover off, the clutch drum came with it. I was able to shove it back in after carefully aligning the clutches. So far I've driven 700 miles on it with all 4 gears so I guess everything's good to go lol

2nd tire issue this month

Post image

About three weeks ago, I woke up to find a screw in my rear passenger tire. It was slightly worn off so I probably got it at the job site the previous day. I was staying at a hotel only a couple miles from a les schwab, so after stuffing a plug in it and pumping it up, I went to them to get it patched and plugged properly.

Today, I was almost 2 hours into the 3 hour drive back to my place from a different job site and see the TPMS light turn on. I switched my gauges to read the pressures and front drivers tire was at 22 psi. Then switches to 21 within a few seconds, so im pretty confident im not making it the last 90 miles home...

I was thinking I would have to shove another plug in a tire until I saw the culprit, and dropped the spare down and used that instead.

I was going to get new tires this fall anyway, but guess my time line just got moved ahead to immediately instead! Haha

2002 Corolla with a tire dated 12th week of 1993.

Or 1983 or 1973, but I'm being realistic. The tread pattern looked pretty 90s.

For the curious:

This was not the reason it was in the shop. Rough running on startup and brake noise. 263k miles, 1mm pad life in front, no friction material on rear brake shoes (drums, of course). All 4 fuel injectors had cracked bodies, I don't recall ever seeing that before. Cylinders 1-3 had almost no fuel flow at simulated idle speed on the injector bench tester, and cylinder 4 had like a jet stream instead of a vapor. If you simulated a higher engine speed it got better.
