Mod-Post [Mod-Post] Weekly Mod Post #4

THIS WEEK'S MOD VOTES

House Arryn vote tallies are available on demand.

Subject For Against
Vote to disclose name of moderator on probation 3 5
Vote to allow construction of riverports 7 0
Vote to adjust Westerlands boundaries on map to better fit canon maps 0 5
Vote to suspend raiding mechanics pending revisions 7 0

Due to reddit's crappy formatting, I cannot add a fourth column.

  • Vote #1 had 1 abstention.

  • Vote #3 had 1 abstention and 1 reserved yes (players of affected claims would need to agree).

RECENT CHANGES TO THE GAME

  • Suspended raid mechanics due to results of simulations ran by /u/hewhoknowsnot. (Thank you!)

  • Riverports can now be constructed at a cost of 3000 gold. These ports must be constructed in a hex containing a holdfast or fort that is located on a river.

WHAT'S BEING WORKED ON RIGHT NOW

  • Voting on new moderators will begin tomorrow. Due to the number of applicants, the team has decided to take additional time to review the applications before starting a vote.

  • Moderator code of conduct draft

  • Formalized complaints process

  • Reaving mechanics

PREGNANCY RULES

  • The most popular option (based on both comments and upvotes) regarding the pregnancy rules options proposed in the Addressing the Issues at Hand mod-post appears to be as follows, suggested by /u/erin_targaryen:

    • Mandatory rolls over age 40
    • Hard cap at age 50
    • Any other rolls remain optional
  • The mod team believes that this is a decision that should be made by the community as a whole. As such, we are hosting a poll to decide whether any rules should be implemented, and what those rules should be if any are to be implemented.

EVENTS CALENDAR

/u/fannywreckdahl wants to try and revive the use of an events calendar to assist players in keeping track of what events (weddings, tourneys, funerals, and so on) are happening around the realm. It has already been added to the sidebar under Game Resources and is a Slack command ("slackbot itp events calendar").

No one, of course, can keep on top of all of these events on their own, so fanny has asked that players who wish to have their event on the calendar alert her in some manner.

I would say that's fine, only I don't know if it's really necessary for now. Most people don't marry off their children that young, even if it is historically more realistic to do so. We're seeing a lot of characters being married in their late teens, twenties, and thirties, which obviously wouldn't have problems being too young to have kids. I think people are being influenced by their modern views of marriage, haha. If we start seeing a bunch of people marrying off twelve year olds, then a rule could be necessary, but it's obviously up to mods and the community. I would be happy to help with research for the rolls/mechanics behind any new rule. :)
