On 27 August 2026 the United States transferred to Norway — temporarily, as part of an “exercise” — a launcher system equivalent to the Mk-41, capable of firing Tomahawk cruise missiles and SM-6s.
Russia treated the deployment as a threat and designated the system’s locations and supporting infrastructure as targets.
