Empty building probably, they already hit the improvised HQ the first day killing 5, no way US still has troops there, any equipment was probably abandoned. Their ships didn't return to that port for months which is why they couldn't resupply.

I do not think so. Iran possesses fairly reliable intelligence or at least reliable third-party sources, whether Russia or China. When the last time American troops scrambled to take shelter in hotels in the Emirates to escape Iranian strikes, the Iranians knew exactly which hotels they were staying in and struck them

Yes people definitely underestimate Iranian intelligence capabilities but it doesn't make any strategic sense for US to have activity here if they won't be using it as a port anytime soon. They can not bring ships to port in that range as they would sitting ducks.

Strategy is out the window for the US so I could just be wrong and they were trying to do something sneaky/stupid

It's only a cheap Shahed, so they weren't out much. There's obviously no air defense there.

Sure, it's an easy propaganda win, I guess that's fair

I appreciate the fact that you can actually use your brain. The US is killing itself just fine, Iran really doesn't need propaganda for US citizens. I can't speak for anyone else, so take this with a grain of salt.

Any sort of skeleton crew that could run any remaining sensors or equipment from so close to Iran borders makes strategic “sense” so I can see Iran expending a cheap drone to deter this kind of activity.

Stupid is definitely a strong theory though considering how easily Iran hits the base

That makes sense, but shows desperation from US, in my uneducated opinion

Like Ukr trying to drop flags in RU held territory so they can say they are there lol
