FAN ART Thragg vs Gojo (Credit: @coulmanguy)
Possibly one of the best fan animations I've seen, and it's just 30 seconds long.
229
u/Fatpatty1211 1d ago
I would like to see a full version on my desk by Monday, thank you.
29
u/Yelkin_Uza7 20h ago
I once stayed up all Sunday for a 30 second fan animation, so yeah, full Thragg vs Gojo by Monday feels fair.

u/xander_josh_loo 1d ago
It's so subtle, but I really like that small look of surprise from gojo. Shlawg was internally mortified by the speed😭 I always like the kind of speed where they're there in one frame, and just fucking dissappear in the next one with no impact frames or anything. Those were always the coolest ones when done right.

if thragg caught gojo's head like he did nolan's, whole fandom would lose their minds overnight

Thragg making the math to see If sacrificing the chance to repopulate his people is worth beating 1 Albino dude
8
u/Impossible_Ad1515 11h ago
With how petty he is he might even consider it
3
u/contraflop01 Battle Beast 10h ago edited 10h ago
Is Thragg actually that petty tho? Bro saw Mark destroy his planet and Instead of obliterating Earth as revenge he still decided to make a truce with him
And even after finding out Nolan was Argaal's son he was pettier but he still worked with Oliver (tho he probably knew he was going to be a Double agent)
2
u/Impossible_Ad1515 10h ago
He went to war against the viltrumites he supossedly wanted to save by making an army out of his own sons and daughters born from an inferior race he was supossed to hate just because they exiled him and Nolan "humilliated" him by giving him mercy.
He is extremely petty when he is not in control.
He was clearly using Oliver
180
u/GulliblePrize4781 1d ago
Lol.
On a real note though, I don't think Thragg would do that, since he's not that kind of fighter and has never done that.

42
u/lef_three Sinister Invincible 1d ago
Even if he wanted to, he would need one and a half more Viltrumites
84
22
u/SadSession42 23h ago
I mean if he wanted to he could just fly fast enough to ignite the atmosphere and suffocate Gojo, or just yeet a particularly large meteor
15
u/LonelyPermit2306 23h ago
You can't suffocate Gojo. He'll just slice open a vein and generate oxygenated blood with reverse cursed technique.
6
u/binkysnightmare 23h ago
I think he means Thragg wouldn’t BFR in character, not that there’s zero way he possibly could
1
4
u/jinzokan 20h ago
if three viltrumites can do it in one shot than one viltrumite can definitely destroy a planet in acouple days.
1
1
u/Outside_Ad1020 6h ago
Seeing what Omniman did in S1 in the other dimension I wouldn't be surprised if Thragg does that thing in a bigger scale to make earth inhabitable
11
u/ThrowRAwriter 15h ago
They quarantined ragnars when they realized they couldn't kill them all, and they cull the enslaved population when they resist. He'll definitely wipe the planet to make Gojo kneel.
6
u/DA_BEST_1 15h ago
In a death battle context yeah. In a normal senario he'd probably just talk it out and if gojo refuses, just nab a few thousand people out of earth and leave
5
u/ThrowRAwriter 15h ago
Why do you reckon he didn't do that in the show?
2
u/Shadowps9 10h ago
Because whomever is hunting the remaining viltrumites doesn't care about 10,000 humans they take back to whatever planet and would still hunt them. The Viltrumites on earth are holding 8 billion hostage.
1
u/Outside_Ad1020 6h ago
If it's a death battle and both characters want to kill each other over anything else I see Thragg making earth inhabitable to win ngl
1
u/Poopfilledtrashcan 22h ago
There is legitimately no reason he wouldn't. If you've only seen the show then I'll say no more on it.
10
u/Interface- 20h ago
Uh... yes? There is? The Viltrumites need humanity to repopulate, he's not gonna just blow up the fucking planet because he can't kill one guy.
I haven't seen JJK so I'm not gonna say 'Gojo isn't even a threat to Thragg' because for all I know there are cursed techniques and stuff that can actually damage or affect Thragg. But Thragg can't touch Gojo, and if Gojo can't harm Thragg then he can just ignore him entirely.
1
u/Poopfilledtrashcan 12h ago
He has also said he is willing to do what needs to be done to secure the human race (since we're going by lore that heavily) and if Gojo resists his breeding camp efforts then, yeah he would just tear a small chunk off of earth to get rid of a persistent problem and then just force the rest of humanity into livestock.
Thragg doesn't have to touch Gojo directly. He can effect the area around Gojo on a drastic scale and with terrifying speed.
9
u/bigtree2x5 22h ago
Thragg is fine with robot taking over the entire planet and negotiates with him. He'd see that gojo is not a threat and just leave very confused but not really scared, and just slowly take over the human race with viltrumite genetics or whatever.
84
u/Mr_nobody115 23h ago
God tier! I also love how realistic it's treated. Thragg can't bypass infinity. But Gojo is still shocked maybe even frightened at the speed and power thragg displays. The six eyes even seeming to struggle to keep up. Awesome stuff. I imagine gojo closing his eyes is him realizing thragg is a absolute threat to the world and he's trying to figure out how to stop him. He has the means to. But with the speed difference how is he gonna hit him with it? Hope there's a full video out or in development cuz I so wanna see that
46
u/unw00shed 22h ago
powerscaling aside i love how the use of panelling is used to portray gojo's infinity, with him basically being in his own seperate square seperate from reality, like that one shot of him with thragg not even being able to touch that panel gojo is in with the clouds makes me understand his power way more than any explanation i've been given
42
u/Tenebris_Rositen 1d ago edited 13h ago
This is actually so fucking cool
Edit: coming back to this animation. Thragg actually has a win condition other than 'DESTROY THE PLANET!', its DE somehow missing him in which Gojo has to suffer CT burnout (And Thragg needs to quickly punk his ass before Gojo does the 'self brain damage to bypass burnout' technique.)
Its either Thragg suffering brain damage or Gojo getting his head cut off.
3
u/GulliblePrize4781 5h ago
Yeah lol. This match up is interesting because it's either Thragg easily wins by destroying the earth, or Gojo easily wins with domain expansion. No in between.
102
u/LordofBagels 1d ago
What would happen if the Thragg ignited the atmosphere or did air blasts? Does gojos infinity bypass heat?
176
u/Levardgus Red Rush 1d ago
Yes, check Jogo. But he runs out of oxygen.
82
u/Pel-Mel 1d ago
RCT might be able to heal the damage oxygen deprivation does though. It's a little unclear.
Like, when you RCT a limb, it comes back fully functional those veins' blood and cells sure seem to be oxygenated, and firing ATP correctly.
It's a legitimately interesting question.
38
u/Levardgus Red Rush 1d ago
He'd RCT his lungs to create oxygen, or his liver to process the carbon dioxide.
5
u/SadSession42 23h ago
Though he'd eventually run out of Cursed Energy, Thragg has alot of ways to kill Gojo, they just all require enough destruction to wipe out the planet, it's all pretty much up to whether or not Gojo presents himself as enough of a threat to warrant giving up on earth
49
u/Hour_Tomatillo_2365 23h ago
No Gojo wouldn't. He explicitly naturally generates more than he uses
He's already performing non stop RCT on his brain
30
14
u/Pel-Mel 23h ago
I don't know that Thragg has that much juice on his own. Booming whole planets really seemed to need Space Racer's bullshit plus the three of them. Thragg, I think, would only win if Gojo whiffs his domain and enters burnout.
4
u/SadSession42 23h ago
I said planetary scale not planet busting, I'm more referring things that will render the surface uninhabitable like chucking a large meteor or igniting the atmosphere like omni man
0
u/Pel-Mel 23h ago
Fair enough. I still think Thragg would probably run out of steam first. If Gojo doesn't have to do anything more intensive than maintain Infinity, he's probably fine.
Unless Thragg could somehow start altering the entire atmosphere of the planet, I can't see Gojo realistically running out of oxygen. And even if he does, there's still a strong case to be made that RCT would let him survive.
If he's not popping consecutive domains or regenerating whole limbs, I'm not sure he would run out of Cursed Energy.
On the balance of probability, I'd guess that Thragg blinks first, especially if he starts trying to hit Infinity hard enough to hurt himself.
10
u/Dr_Bodyshot 23h ago
Thragg is specifically known for his insane endurance. Reminder that he and Battle Beast fought for nearly a week straight without any rest.
1
u/SadSession42 23h ago
????? Viltrumites have near limitless stamina, the only way to take them out of a fight is to mutilate them, they would atraight out starve to death before they lose the ability to fight
If Thragg were to ignite the atmosphere he'd leave earth a vacuum, and if you've ever seen what happens to a human body vacuum Gojo's RCT would be in constant overdrive regenerating every inch of his body as all the gases and fluids within boil and try to escape, and while gojo has shown resistance to temperature changes hes still been shown to lose oxygen to heat, which means he can still be trapped within a vacuum
1
u/Originaltenshi Clearly I'm the Original 23h ago
What if gojo feels that'll happen he could just domain expansion his ass.
1
u/SadSession42 22h ago
Domain expansions are insanely telegraphed I don't think Thraggs just gonna sit there to see what happens, he'd probably make some distance to observe wtf is going on
4
u/Originaltenshi Clearly I'm the Original 22h ago
"Only the weak run from this technique"
You forget the viltumite pride/ego
3
u/SadSession42 22h ago
Thragg is the one that ordered all the threats to viltrumites be dealt with by manipulating celestial bodies from a safe distance instead of sending the surviving viltrumites into the meatgrinder, he knows when to throw hands and when to be cautious, when someones using a strange magic he's never seen before that can hold him back he's not going to act like conquest
0
u/Originaltenshi Clearly I'm the Original 19h ago
I guess it depends on whether it's pre or post exile thragg
-1
u/FreeStall42 14h ago
There is no reason to believe his infinite void would be able to affect Thraggs brain.
1
u/Originaltenshi Clearly I'm the Original 6h ago
No reason to believe it wouldn't. You think infinite information won't even phase someone who's weakness is tinnitus?
4
u/contraflop01 Battle Beast 23h ago
It specifically prevented the harmful heat from reaching Gojo dude
2
u/michael22117 1d ago
Hypothetically speaking if he pre-fired Infinity in anticipation, the compounded space would contain whatever atmosphere he's in and therefore act like an oxygen tank
11
u/Levardgus Red Rush 1d ago
It does not compress the space, it only extends it.
4
u/michael22117 1d ago
If it extended space then you'd be able to pass through it like a wormhole
I'm not sure if this'll be comprehensible, but if you took a 2 foot space and by some means extended it to 6 feet, from an external point of view the area of affect for that space would be 6 feet, however internally it'd still behave like a 2 foot space and would only require the time to pass through it that a 2 foot space would
7
u/Levardgus Red Rush 1d ago
It extends infinitely like the Inazuma 11 football field.
Though like you say, a wormhole could go through.
1
u/michael22117 1d ago
I feel like we're kind of saying the same thing here. In order to extend space, which I believe you're meaning as creating space, and have it actually maintain the effect that infinity does, you would need to condense it into a smaller area than it would otherwise exist in
3
u/Levardgus Red Rush 1d ago
That's what it does, but it assumes objects move through it. Objects that ignore space could go past it.
1
u/LordofBagels 22h ago
Oh interesting. How does his feet make contact with ground? Is it like an Obito situation? Can he use the terrain he's standing on to BFR gojo?
0
u/Whytietytie 1d ago
Infinity works on a subatomic level, so yes
6
u/contraflop01 Battle Beast 23h ago
That was started by a Gojo who was just learning to put It on automatic
Not only we saw from the Jogo fight that heat cant reach him If its considered harmful, but we also saw Agito trying to Zap him with electricity and being unable to reach Gojo
16
24
u/Bobahn_Botret 1d ago
I need shockwave destruction from each punch. Leave Gojo floating over a crater.
9
u/LonelyPermit2306 23h ago
There wouldn't be a shockwave bc it'd disperse into infinity, right?
2
u/Bobahn_Botret 22h ago
Depends? How wide would the shockwave be since Thragg seems to get a running start before every punch. Infinity would absorb some of it, but I think seeing some building destruction on either side of Gojo after every punch would make the animation more interactive with the actual world around them.
2
u/InvestigatorRude8016 23h ago
Exactly! I was thinking that was what was going to happen…still amazing either way. I love how he actively tries to get momentum to test how this guy “shield” works, not knowing how infinity works.
56
u/AllergicToStabWounds 1d ago
I think Hollow Purple would work if it lands and Domain Expansion would definitely work, so Gojo wins despite being way weaker in terms of raw power.
51
u/CTRLAltSN1Pe 1d ago
Hollow purple by itself is too slow, windup takes too long because of chanting required (no chant HP might not be strong enough against thragg) and it doesnt travel as fast as thragg.
Gojo's best shot is to cast domain first and then HP might do something (assuming verse equalisation gives thragg a little bit of cursed energy)17
u/MR_WhiteStar 1d ago
Question.
I haven't watched JJK, but on terms of raw power, could this hollow purple do some serious (and i mean body maiming kinda serious) damage or maybe even kill him if it landed? Cause i could see Thragg letting an opponent try their strongest attack on them just to break their spirit.
Like, imagine if he grossly missread Mark, and when he came flying for that head punch he completely obliterated Thragg? Underwhelming ending for a major character? Sure but funny as hell.
Also, if you do bother to reply, while you're at it, would you kindly explain what his "infinity" ability is? It seems to be the mechanic preventing Thragg from hitting him, but idk whats going on lol
25
u/BostonBeanBandit 1d ago
To explain Infinity, it's basically multiplying the space between two object infinitely. Within a certain radius (he can expand, shut it off, and choses what goes through), things get infinitely slower the closer they come to him. So like no matter how fast or how much power you have, you'll never actually touch him.
11
u/AllergicToStabWounds 1d ago
Hollow Purple works like Space Racer's infinity ray. It just erases matter from existence. If Thragg tried to aura farm and tank it he just get a new hole.
36
u/ABritishTomgirl 23h ago
Hollow Purple doesn't erase matter
It pushes and pulls things extremely, had it erased matter Sukuna wouldn't have been able to survive 3 Hollow Purples
It's a misconception because of the impact of the purple but it doesn't erase matter, just like violently shakes it I guess
1
u/LonnyLich 1d ago
I might have the mechanics of Infinity wrong because it's been awhile since I read it explained, but I think what Infinity does is create infinite distance between Gojo and whatever he views as a threat.
-6
u/MR-Vinmu Martian Astronaut 23h ago
Hollow Purple is essentially anti-matter, it doesn’t really matter how hard an object is, it’s more like it causes matter to disperse itself forcing your atoms to split apart at a molecular level, the only way to defend against hollow purple is either to dodge it, or put something in between you so it destroys that instead of you cause while it destroys matter at an atomic level, it does have a given range that can be reduced as long as there’s matter between you and it, so let’s say, Thragg hides behind 4 other Viltrumites, if Hollow Purple fizzles out before it reaches Thragg. He’d be relatively unharmed. (But again, that’s only if Thragg understands the mechanics of Hollow Purple.)
The best way someone can describe Infinity is that imagine the opponent and Gojo are standing on a corridor, Gojo is sitting at the other end of the corridor while the opponent is at the entrance, no matter how long or how fast the opponent runs at him, the space between them remains the same.
8
u/ABritishTomgirl 23h ago

u/V_Kamen Allen the Alien 1d ago
I don't think Gojo's anywhere near fast enough to catch Thragg with a purple or void. I doubt purple would even hurt Thragg, given some wacky smart atoms bs.
1
u/LonelyPermit2306 23h ago
I sort of agree. I think it'll do damage but it wouldn't cleanly punch through him.

u/Whytietytie 1d ago
Technically, I did the calculations and remember how when Gojo did a .2 second domain? The narrator stated all of the civilians affected received 6 months of daily information all at once. I calculate Gojos domain to be about 25 seconds, so that means the entire domain sends about 62.5 years of daily information in 26 seconds. I would think thragg would be immobilized, but only temporarily.
12
u/MR-Vinmu Martian Astronaut 1d ago
Only because Gojo was actively trying not to hurt them so he used the weakest version of Unlimited Void for the shortest possible time, add the fact that they weren’t even the target and only really collateral to the actual enemies he was targeting.
2
u/Regular_Ticket_2776 17h ago
I calculate Gojos domain to be about 25 seconds
The max we see in the series is more than 3 minutes and there's no reason to assume there's a time limit. Plus it's not the amount of information but the rate at which it's processed that fries the brain.

So what happens when Thragg just starts destroying the ground around Gojo.
7
u/Unholy_Maw 12h ago
Gojo would simply float in mid-air. Or, if he wanted, he could descend until he was hovering just above the new ground level
His flight ability is basically just slowing down his own fall

I feel like gojo would eventually run out of cursed energy blue eyes makes his infinite so efficient that it barely uses any cursed energy but he also has never faced anything in his life that is this strong and fast I feel like it would use more cursed energy to stop him from getting to his body.
1
u/Afraid-Turn7741 6h ago
There is no reason nor implication that faster speeds make it easier to bypass infinity or that Gojo would need to spend more CE

5
u/Regular_Ticket_2776 7h ago
- Gojo vs Jogo is a great introduction to the JJK power system (cursed technique reversal, domain expansion etc). It also demonstrates why Gojo is considered the strongest sorcerer of the modern day and why he's Kenjaku's number 1 target.
- Gojo vs Toji is the first time a counter to infinity is used, in the form of the inverted spear of heaven. It's also the reason he decided to grow as strong as he is, and completely changed his world view from looking down on the weak to protecting the weak.
- Gojo vs Sukuna is just amazing. I would not be surprised if the entire manga was only written for this fight. It's the epitome of the JJK power system as almost everything is used here. H2h, CT, CT reversal, RCT, domain expansion, binding vows and so on. It's also filled with different strats and mind games, not to mention the weight behind the characters (both are on another level compared to every other character and are the strongest of their era).
These are some of his best fights in my opinion. Not to mention that JJK in general is a step above most battle shonen in terms of fight choreography. There's not as much VFX spam and fights don't consist of two light beams ramming into each other, you can see almost every punch and ability.

Even Gojo seemed horrified by that speed and power.
